In a patio light, the combination of a vertical stack of frames forming a side of a lamp, a lamp bulb centrally positioned within said stack radiating light rays, and a canopy lid over said stack, said lamp including a chain securable to an upper end thereof so to hang said lamp, and said lamp including a bottom bracket for supporting said lamp upon a pole, said lamp including a top bracket to hold said lid and stack of frames together by means of a pair of rods, each said frame being of square shape, each alternate frame being positioned having side walls vertically aligned and corners vertically aligned, and each frame between said alternate frames being horizontally obliquely turned respective thereto, light emanating apertures accordingly being formed between said vertically aligned alternate side walls.
Description

This invention relates generally to lamp fixtures.

A principal object of the present invention is to provide a patio lite that is adaptable for either out-of-door or in-door use, according to the season, so that it is suitable in summer to use on a patio, porch or backyard, and in winter to use in a den, recreation or other room of a house.

Another object is to provide a patio lite that can selectively either be hung from a chain, or else mounted upon a post.

Yet another object is to provide a patio lite which is attractive in appearance, provides good light without sideward glare, and which can be made in various sizes.

Other objects are to provide a patio lite which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use, and efficient in operation.

These and other objects will be readily evident upon a study of the following specification and the accompanying drawing, wherein:

FIG. 1 is a perspective view illustrating the components of the invention shown separated prior to assembly.

FIG. 2 is a side view of the assembled invention.

Referring now to the drawing in detail, the reference numeral 10 represents a patio lite according to the present invention, wherein the same is constructed of parts illustrated in FIG. 1 and which includes a canopy lid 11 that is slightly downwardly sloped from its center. Openings 12 serve to receive screws 13 so to mount the lid upon an upper bracket 14 having openings 15 to receive the screws.

A stack of square shaped frames 16 may be made of either opaque or transluscent sheeting strips of either plastic, metal or other material, and which at their ends are enjoined by rivets 17. The uppermost frame has openings 18 for alignment with openings 19 of the bracket 14 and receiving mounting rivets 20. The upper edge of each of the other frames has notches 21 so the frames may be fitted therein one upon the other and maintained in the relative positions shown in FIG. 1, wherein each alternate frame is turned 45.degree. respective to the other frames therebetween.

The stack of frames, thus assembled are secured to the upper bracket 14 by means of a pair of rods 22 placed inside the frame pile, the lower end of each rod having a hook 23 for hooking around the lower edge of the bottom frame, the upper end of the rods being threaded so to threadingly engage inside threaded studs 24 fitted through openings 25 of the upper bracket.

The lowermost frame has a plate 26 secured thereacross by rivets 27 received through openings 28 and 29. Mounting openings 30 and wire clearance opening 31 in the plate 26 serve for mounting a lamp bulb socket 32 thereupon. A lower bracket 33 is mounted to the lowermost frame at right angle to the plate, by means of rivets 34 through openings 35 and 36. A central opening 37 through the bracket 33 serves to receive a pole 38 when the lamp is supported thereupon.

Alternately the lamp can be supported by being hung from a chain 39.

Thus there is provided a useful patio lite.
