How do I accurately list my goods and services?

Use our searchable Acceptable Identification of Goods and Services Manual (ID Manual) to find acceptable wording to describe your goods and/or services in the application. All goods and services in the ID Manual are assigned numbered categories called “international classes.” There are 45 international classes: classes 1-34 are for goods and classes 35-45 are for services. Review our list of the international classes to learn what types of goods and services fall under each class. This list is intended to help you correctly identify how to describe your goods and/or services.

Do not use the international class headings to describe your goods and/or services in the application. These headings are too broad to identify specific goods and services, and so are not acceptable for that purpose.

Also, remember that although we use an international classification system, we provide federal registration; your trademark rights only extend to the 50 U.S. states and territories.
