Applicant (Trademark)

The person or organization that applies to register a trademark. An applicant can be an individual or an organization capable of suing and being sued in a court of law, such as a corporation, partnership, joint venture, union, or association.

The applicant must also be the trademark owner or be entitled to use the trademark at the time the application is filed. The trademark owner is the person or organization that applies the trademark to goods they produce, or that uses the service mark in the sale or advertising of services they perform.
