Parent Case Text

This is a continuation of application Ser. No. 212,022, filed Dec. 27, 1971 now abandoned.
Claims

I claim:

1. A barbering implement for trimming a person's sideburns comprising a template having a sideburn outline portion that conforms to the front and the bottom edges and the length of a desired sideburn shape, and an ear encircling portion having a top curved section for resting on top of an ear and projecting downwardly behind the ear and a bottom section for encircling the ear lobe and projecting upwardly towards said top curved section, the two said sections being spaced from each other to provide a generally C-shaped opening which opens rearwardly relative to said sideburn outline portion, whereby when the sideburn outline portion is placed over a sideburn to be trimmed, the ear encircling portion encircles the top, front, and ear lobe of a person's ear.

2. The combination with the implement of claim 1 of a second implement for trimming a person's sideburn comprising a template having a sideburn outline portion that conforms to the front and the bottom edges and the length of a desired sideburn shape, and an ear encircling portion having a top curved section for resting on top of an ear and projecting downwardly behind the ear and a bottom section for encircling the ear lobe and projecting upwardly towards said top curved section, the two said sections being spaced from each other to provide a generally C-shaped opening which opens rearwardly relative to said sideburn outline portion, said implement having handle means projecting substantially perpendicularly outwardly from one surface thereof, and said second implement having handle means projecting substantially perpendicularly outwardly from the reverse surface of said second implement, whereby one implement is used for trimming one sideburn and the other implement is used for trimming the other sideburn.
Description

This invention relates generally to barbering implements.

A principle object of the present invention is to provide a set of accessories for use in trimming the hair around a man's ears and for the whiskers of a moustache.

Another object is to provide a set of accessories which will aid in maintaining the sideburns and moustache in a neat and attractive shape.

Another object is to provide a set of accessories which can be made in different sizes and shapes so to be suitable for all different styles of sideburns and moustaches.

Still another object is to provide a set of accessories which could be sold in men's hair styling shops leaving the barber to custom cut the design to whatever hair styling the customer may wish, and the customer can then himself maintain the cut to be neat.

Other objects are to provide an E-Z sideburn and moustache shaper which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efficient in operation.

These and other objects will be readily apparent upon a study of the following specification and the accompanying drawing wherein:

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a device for trimming the right sideburn and a device for trimming a moustache; and

FIG. 2 is a cross sectional view taken on line 2--2 of FIG. 1 and showing the moustache trimming device in use.

Referring now to the drawing in detail, the reference numeral 10 represents an E-Z sideburn and moustache shaper according to the present invention wherein there is a set of accessories consisting of a sideburn shaper 11 and a moustache shaper 12.

The right sideburn shaper consists of a template 13 formed integrally with a handle 14; the template having a peripheral edge 15 in the contour of a sideburn and which is shaped to fit around a person's ear with the edge 15 overlying the person's sideburn. A suitably shaped notch 16 is provided in the template and it will enable the template to partially encircle the front of the ear with handle 14 being forward of the ear. The template will rest on the top and against the front of the ear. A similar template, but with the handle 14 projecting from the reverse surface of the template will be provided for trimming the left sideburn.

In operative use, a person simply places the template 13 against the right sideburn of the hair, and then with a pair of scissors he can trim the hairs that project beyond the peripheral edge, so that when the template is removed, the sideburn has a neat shape. The left sideburn is similarly trimmed using a template provided for that purpose.

The moustache shaper 12 comprises a template 17 with forwardly extending handle 18, the template being in a shape of a moustache.

In use, the moustache shaper 12 is used in a similar manner as the sideburn shaper so to trim off whiskers projecting outwardly from under the template.

The shaper 11 and 12 can be made three dimensional instead of flat. They can be made in any size and in any style.

The shaper can be made of any material such as plastic, metal or like.

While various changes may be made in the described construction, it is understood that such changes will be within the spirit and scope of the present invention.
