Claims

What I claim is:

1. A paper hanger's tool box, comprising a hollow rectangular tray with a hinged cover, a divider wall carried by said tray for defining compartment means for a brush and tools, a pair of parallel, spaced apart cross members within one said compartment of said tray for the placement of tools, said cross members being secured at one ends to said divider wall and secured at their opposite ends to an end wall of said tray, said cross members being located near an upper edge of said compartment, a pair of removeable compartment covering lids carried by said tray with loop members for lifting them therefrom, a hook ended rod carried by said tray providing support means for said cover when said box is opened, latch means carried by said tray and said cover for securing said tray and cover together, and a scale carried by said box for measuring purposes.

2. A combination according to claim 1, wherein said divider wall is secured fixedly between the front wall and rear wall of said tray and thus defines the compartment, one of which receives the brush and the other which receives the paper hanger tools.

3. A combination according to claim 2, wherein rail means secured on interior of said tray where the upper edge, provides support means for said removable lid portions which cover said compartments, said lid portions having loop means for lifting them free of said compartments when desired.

4. A combination according to claim 3, wherein the hooked ended rod portion of said device is received at one end by an eye member secured to the bottom wall of said tray and the opposite end of said rod is removably received within an open tab secured within said cover, said rod, eye, and tab serving in combination, to hold said cover upwards when said box is opened and said tray and cover are provided with spaced apart latches for rendering said box closed when not in use and the front wall of said tray portion is provided with handle grip means for lifting and carrying said box.
Description

This invention relates to tool boxes, and more particularly to a paper hanger's tool box.

It is therefore the principle object of this invention to provide a paper hanger's tool box which will enable the paper hanger to store his tools and brush so that they may be readily available when needed.

Another object of this invention is to provide a tool box of the type described which will have handle grip means and latching means so as to enable the user to carry the necessary tools to and from the work site.

Another object of this invention is to provide a tool box of the type described, which will include the hollow rectangular tray member with partition wall means defining compartments for the tools and the brush.

Another object of this invention is to provide a tool box of the type described, which will have removable lids over the compartments, the lids having lifting rings.

A further object of this invention is to provide a tool box of the type described which will have a hinged cover, the cover including latches for engagement with mating latches of the tray so as to render the box closed when it is not being used and the device will also include an 18 inch scale and a hook ended rod for engagement with a tab of the cover and an eye within the tray, the arrangement serving to keep the cover in a nearly upright position when the box is opened.

Other objects of the present invention are to provide a paper hanger's tool box which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efficient in operation.

These and other objects will be readily evident upon a study of the following specification and the accompanying drawings wherein:

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the present invention shown in open position and partly broken away.

FIG. 2 is a cross sectional view taken along the line 2--2 of FIG. 1, showing the lid support means in place.

FIG. 3 is a perspective view showing the cover lids removed from the compartments therein.

According to this invention, a tool box 10 is shown to include a hollow rectangular configurated tray 11 having a front wall 12, a back wall 13, end walls 14, and a bottom wall 14 prime. A divider wall 15 is fixedly secured between front wall 12 and back wall 13 and serves to define compartment means for a brush on the right side and tools on the left side.

Covering the compartments defined by wall 15, are flat lids 16 and 17 having loop portions 17 prime for lifting them clear of the compartments defined within tray 11. A plurality of rail members 18 are fixedly secured in a suitable manner just below the upper edge of the tray 11 so as to provide support means for the removable lids 16 and 17.

A pair of cross members 19 are fixedly secured between end wall 14 and the divider wall 15 for the placement of tools.

Within the hinged cover 20 of box 10 is an 18 inch scale 21 and cover 20 is secured to hinges 22 which are secured to the rear wall 13. Secured to cover 20 at its fronts edge, are a pair of spaced apart latches 23 for engagement with mating latches 24 on the front wall 12 of tray 11, the latches 23 and 24 serving to keep the box 10 closed when it is not in use. A handle 25 is fixedly secured in a suitable manner between the latches 24 on the front wall 12 of tray 11 and provides handle grip means of carrying box 10.

A hook ended rod 26 is received at one end by an eye member 27 secured within tray 11 and the opposite end of the rod 26 hookingly engages an open tab 28 fixedly secured within the lid 20, the arrangement serving to keep the cover 20 in a nearly upright position when box 10 is opened.
