Claims

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:

1. A package for containing a plurality of materials and for dispensing said material into the cistern of a toilet bowl, comprising a container molded to form a first chamber having material therein, said first chamber being molded sealed without openings therein, and outside wall means molded as an integral part of said container to form a second chamber for receiving and retaining a second material a portion of said wall means being common to said first and second chambers.

2. The invention according to claim 1 in which said second chamber comprises a pocket having its opening facing outwardly, and side walls of said pocket extending inwardly of said package.

3. The invention according to claim 1 including said second material in solid form disposed in said second chamber.

4. The invention according to claim 1 including support structure molded integral with the package for orienting and supporting said package said cistern.
Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

This invention relates to container-dispenser packages and is directed particularly to such a package suitable for use as a toilet bowl cleaning and/or disinfecting device.

2. Description of the Prior Art

Devices for cleaning and disinfecting toilet bowls and the like are in common use today and generally comprise a container suspended in the cistern of the toilet bowl. Generally, the product contained in the device is stored in a reservoir where it is accessible to the flow of water thereinto and therefrom, to carry the product from the reservoir to the cistern. The product often includes a cleaning compound, a disinfectant, and frequently a dye to color the water.

Often the various components to be introduced into the water are not compatible and must be stored in separate compartments in a container, generally requiring a rather complex container having two or more compartments, each with its opening means for facilitating the flow of water therethrough. Manufacture and filling of such containers generally involves expense greater than desired.

Where one component to be dispersed is dye, handling or installing of the device may present a problem. It often is the case that the device must be placed underwater and that as soon as contact with the water is made, dye is dispersed onto the operator's hands.

Another problem frequently encountered in such devices is the attachment of a supporting structure to the container and to the cistern.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

It is, therefore, an object of the invention to provide a package which is molded with a plurality of chambers, one of the chambers being molded-sealed about a first product and another of said chambers being adaped to receive a second product.

A further object of the invention is to provide such a package in which there is further provided, as an integral paft thereof, support structure for properly orienting and supporting the package in a cistern of a toilet bowl, or the like.

A still further object of the invention is to provide such a package which is easily, efficiently and economically manufactured and filled and which is easily and simply installed and used by a consumer.

With the above and other objects in view, as will hereinafter appear, a feature of the present invention is the provision of a package molded to include first and second chambers, the first chamber being provided with a first product and being molded-sealed with the first product therein, the second chamber comprising a pocket disposed in an outside wall of the package for receiving and retaining a second product, and a support structure molded as a unitary portion of the package.

The above and other features of the invention, including various novel details of construction and combinations of parts, will now be more particularly described with reference to the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claims. It will be understood that the particular device embodying the invention is shown by way of illustration only and not as a limitation of the invention. The principles and features of this invention may be employed in various and numerous embodiments without departing from the scope of the invention.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

Reference is made to the accompanying drawings in which is shown an illustrative embodiment of the invention from which its novel features and advantages will be apparent.

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of one form of container illustrative of an embodiment of the invention;

FIG. 2 is a side elevational view, partly broken away; and

FIG. 3 is a front elevational view, showing the invention in its operating environment.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Referring to the drawings, it will be seen that the illustrative device includes a container 2 comprising an inviolate wall 4 (FIG. 2) molded-sealed to form a first chamber 6 without openings and having a first product 8 therein. The wall 4 is molded to form a second chamber 10 having an opening 12, the second chamber 10 being adapted to receive a second product 14.

The second chamber 10 may be formed in the general configuration of an outwardly facing pocket, having side walls 11 extending inwardly of the container, as shown particularly in FIG. 2. The wall 4 may be molded to provide a retaining lip 16 adapted to retain the second product 14 in the second chamber 10. The opening 12 may be covered by application of a peel-off cover 18 applied to the exterior of the wall 4.

The wall 4 is molded with snip-off protuberances 20 which may be severed by a cutting instrument, as shown in FIG. 2, to place the interior of the first chamber 6 in communication with the exterior thereof.

Molded as integral parts of the container 2 are standing support means 22, utilized for storing and displaying the device, and hanging support means 24, utilized in operation of the device, as illustrated in FIG. 3.

In manufacture, the container is molded for the most part, filled with the first product 8 and then molded-sealed to provide the inviolate first chamber 6 having the first product 8 therein. In the molding operation there are formed in addition to the first chamber 6, the second chamber 10 and support means 22, 24. After removal from the mold, the second product 14 is placed in the second chamber 10 and the peel-off cover 18 applied thereover.

In operation, the peel-off cover 18 is removed to expose the second product 14. The proturberances 20 are snipped to form openings 26 (one illustrated in FIG. 2) in the first chamber, and the device is suspended by the hanging support means 24 in a cistern 28 (FIG. 3). Preferably, the device is handled by the hanging support means 24, so that an operator need not subject his hands to contact with water in the cistern or a mixture thereof and the products 8, 14. The first product 8 is in communication with the water in the cistern 28, as is the second product 14, the products 8 and 14 having been separated from one another heretofore.

It is to be understood that the present invention is by no means limited to the particular construction herein disclosed and/or shown in the drawings, but also comprises any modifications or equivalents within the scope of the disclosure.
