CONCEALED HOLSTER
Abstract
A concealed weapon holster utilizing a one-piece body folded so
as to have two halves and a plurality of apertures permitting gas
egress upon the discharge of a shell. The two halves form a pair of
flaps which permit the insertion of ammunition into the weapon
chamber, and detachable securement on any desirable location on the
person, such as a pocket or belt. The holster is designed to wrap
around the weapon in a glove-like fashion and remain in such a
posture while in use.

Claims
What is claimed is:
1. A holster for supporting a pistol on the person of the user and
encasing the pistol during discharge thereof comprising:
a single sheet of flexible material folded around the pistol and
forming an aperture around the barrel to permit the barrel to
project externally therefrom;
stitching permanently joining a portion of the edges of said folded
sheet of flexible material between the barrel opening and the front
portion of the trigger guard of the pistol, the remaining edges of
said material being recessed to fully expose the trigger and
trigger guard of the pistol, and the hammer and the pistol
handle;
a strap integrally formed on a portion of one edge of said folded
sheet and extending to the other side thereof for gripping the
pistol between the trigger guard and the handle;
at least one aperture formed in said material adjacent to the
firing chamber of said pistol for releasing trapped gases when the
pistol is discharged;
a flexible spring-loaded clip secured to said folded sheet adjacent
to the integrally formed portion of said strap for detachably
fastening the holster to the clothing of the user; and
means for detachably securing said strap to the opposite side of
said folded sheet from said clip so that said folded sheet is
secured to the pistol during its support on the person and said
stitched portion of the edges of said foldable sheet are urged
against the contour of the pistol so that said material and clip
remains with the pistol when the pistol is removed from its
concealed position and discharged by the user.
2. The concealed holster as recited in claim 1, wherein said means
for detachably securing said strap to said folded sheet,
comprises:
a button cap secured to the end of said strap; and
a button pin, secured to the side of said folded sheet, for
detachable engagement with said button cap, for securing the end of
said strap to said sheet.
Description
This invention relates to a concealed holster that is designed to
remain with the weapon while in use as well as in storage.
More specifically, the present invention relates to a concealed
weapon holster which partially encloses the weapon in glove-like
manner.
In conventional holsters, the weapon is usually required to be
withdrawn from the holster when utilized. However, there are
certain disadvantages in this type of arrangement. In particular,
the additional time required in withdrawing the weapon from such a
holster exposes the user to more danger than he would be subjected
to if the gun could be discharged while remaining in the
holster.
Accordingly, the present invention provides a concealed weapon
holster which is reduced in size and designed to remain with the
weapon so as to eliminate the time required to withdraw the weapon
from the holster. Moreover, the present invention wraps around the
weapon in glove-like manner and, utilizing a clip-on device, can be
supported out of sight. Thus, the weapon may be discharged by
pivoting the holster in the desired direction.
The apparatus of the present invention utilizes a single piece of
flexible material, having stitching partially closing the back
portion while permitting the barrel of the weapon to project
through a hole at the bottom. Mounted on one side is a metal clip
for securement to the pocket or belt of the user. The other side of
the body has a flap containing a snap-on button to allow live
shells to be inserted into the chamber of the weapon. These side
flaps also contain a plurality of holes permitting the egress of
spent gas from the weapon. Included in the top rear portion of the
holster and extending from the flap that has the metal clip
affixed, is a strap for wrapping between the handle of the weapon
and the trigger guard. In this manner, the holster can be
detachably secured to the weapon after the barrel is inserted
through the bottom hole, and the strap is secured around the
weapon.
It is, therefore, an object according to the present invention to
provide a concealed holster designed to remain with the weapon
while in use and in storage.
It is another object according to the present invention to provide
a concealed holster designed to remain with the weapon that permits
insertion of ammunition while on the weapon and egress of spent gas
from therefrom when a bullet is fired.
It is still a further object according to the present invention to
provide a concealed weapon holster that is simple in design,
inexpensive in cost, and reliable in operation.
Other objects and features of the present invention will become
apparent from the following detailed description considered in
connection with the accompanying drawing which discloses one
embodiment of the present invention. It should be understood,
however, that the drawing is designed for the purpose of
illustration only and not as a definition of the limits of the
invention.
In the drawing wherein similar reference characters denote similar
elements throughout the several views:
FIG. 1 is a plan view of the concealed holster according to the
invention, showing a spring-loaded metal clip and holes for the
egress of gas;
FIG. 2 is a side elevation view taken along section 2--2 of FIG.
1;
FIG. 3 shows the obverse side of FIG. 1 with the holster apparatus
according to the present invention affixed to a weapon; and
FIG. 4 is a holster apparatus according to the present invention
positioned at a desired position on the person.
Referring to FIGS. 1-4, there is shown a concealed holster
apparatus 11 having a spring-loaded metal clip 16 fastened to flap
20 by means of stitching 15. Flap 20 additionally comprises a strap
12 extending at a rearward position from flap 20 for detachable
securement to the other flap 19 by means of snap-on button
comprised of members 17 and 18. In detail the button has female cap
18 fastened to flap 12 and male fastener 17 secured to flap 19. In
this manner, recess 23 (FIGS. 1 and 3) allows access to the trigger
26, handle 21 and hammer 25, of weapon 24.
The rear portion of the flaps comprising the holster apparatus are
fastened partially by means of stitching 14 preferably following
the profile of the weapon as shown in detail in FIG. 1. Also shown
are apertures 13 and 27 for the emission of gas when a live shell
is fired.
Flap 12 is wrapped around weapon 24 between the handle and trigger
guard as shown in FIG. 3. Thereafter, the weapon and holster
apparatus may be detachably secured anywhere on person 22 as
indicated in FIG. 4.
In the embodiment shown, body 11 is manufactured of flexible
leather. However, any other natural, and if desired, synthetic
material may be employed without departing from the inventive
concept.
While only a single embodiment of the present invention has been
shown and described, it is to be understood that many changes and
modifications may be made thereunto without departing from the
spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the appended
claims.
