CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

[0001] Pursuant to 35 U.S.C. .sctn. 119 and the Paris Convention Treaty, this application claims foreign priority to Chinese Patent Application No. 202120269694.4 filed Jan. 29, 2021, the contents of which, including any intervening amendments thereto, are incorporated herein by reference. BACKGROUND

[0002] The disclosure relates to the field of bedding, and more particularly, to a mattress topper.

[0003] A mattress topper is a removable bedding that sits on the top of a mattress to prevent dirt and damage to the mattress.

[0004] A filler in the top of the mattress topper is often squeezed and deformed, which reduces the level of comfort for the user.

[0005] Existing mattress toppers have poor air permeability and moisture dissipation, which lead to mildew and bacteria breeding.

SUMMARY

[0006] The disclosure provides a mattress topper comprising a cover; the cover comprises a top fabric, a bottom fabric, and a plurality of gusseted sidewalls.

[0007] The plurality of gusseted sidewalls comprises a first edge connected to the top fabric, and a second edge connected to the bottom fabric; and the plurality of gusseted sidewalls is stitched to a skirt.

[0008] The cover further comprises a filler layer comprising polyester fiber and polyurethane sponge; and the filler layer is connected to the cover by quilting.

[0009] In a class of this embodiment, the top fabric comprises woven fabric, knitted fabric, or non-woven fabric, and the fabric weight is within the range of 80-350 g/m.sup.2; the bottom fabric comprises woven fabric, knitted fabric, or non-woven fabric, and the fabric weight is within the range of 50-110 g/m.sup.2.

[0010] In a class of this embodiment, the plurality of gusseted sidewalls is in the shape of a circular arc surface.

[0011] In a class of this embodiment, the skirt comprises a bottom edge and a circular elastic band disposed on the bottom edge.

[0012] In a class of this embodiment, the polyester fiber in the filler layer has a thickness of 0.7-15 D and a length of 32 mm, 51 mm, or 64 mm; the polyurethane sponge is not limited to specifications, shapes and sizes.

[0013] In a class of this embodiment, a mixing ratio by mass of the polyester fiber to the polyurethane sponge is 1:1, 8:2, 7:3, or 6:4.

[0014] In a class of this embodiment, the cover is connected to the filler layer by quilting to form a regular pattern, such as a square, a rectangle, a diamond, or a wavy line.

[0015] The following advantages are associated with the mattress topper of the disclosure:

[0016] 1. The filler layer is connected to the cover by quilting thus preventing the polyester fiber and the polyurethane sponge from sliding and being squeezed, thereby enhancing the level of comfort for the user.

[0017] 2. The top fabric of the mattress topper has a higher density than related art, which makes the fabric more comfortable to the touch. The bottom fabric of the disclosure has a lower density than related art, which leads to better air permeability and moisture dissipation, as well as reduced possibility of mildew and bacteria breeding on the mattress topper.

[0018] 3. The plurality of gusseted sidewalls is in the shape of a circular arc surface. When compressed, the cover is squeezed to both sides, whereas the plurality of gusseted sidewalls due to good elasticity can bear a greater squeezing force, which prevents the cover from being deformed under pressure.

[0019] 4. The skirt comprises a bottom edge and a circular elastic band disposed on the bottom edge so as to secure the mattress topper to a mattress, thereby preventing the mattress topper from sliding.

[0020] 5. The polyurethane sponge is not limited to specifications, shapes and sizes, thereby minimizing waste of the polyurethane sponge and saving costs.

[0021] 6. The cover is connected to the filler layer by quilting to form a regular pattern, such as a square, a rectangle, a diamond, or a wavy line, thereby giving an improved visual aesthetic.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0022] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a mattress topper according to one embodiment of the disclosure; and

[0023] FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view of a mattress topper according to one embodiment of the disclosure.

[0024] In the drawings, the following reference numbers are used: 1. Cover; 1.1. Top fabric; 1.2. Bottom fabric; 1.3. Gusseted sidewall; 2. Skirt; 3. Filler layer; and 4. Elastic band.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0025] To further illustrate, embodiments detailing a mattress topper are described below. It should be noted that the following embodiments are intended to describe and not to limit the disclosure.

[0026] Referring to FIGS. 1-2, a mattress topper comprises a cover 1 comprising a top fabric 1.1, a bottom fabric 1.2, and a plurality of gusseted sidewalls 1.3;

[0027] The plurality of gusseted sidewalls 1.3 comprises a first edge connected to the top fabric 1.1 and a second edge connected to the bottom fabric 1.2. The plurality of gusseted sidewalls 1.3 is stitched to a skirt 2.

[0028] The cover 1 further comprises a filler layer 3 comprising polyester fiber and polyurethane sponge. The filler layer 3 is connected to the cover 1 by quilting.

[0029] Compared with related art, the filler layer 3 is connected to the cover 1 by quilting to prevent the polyester fibers and the polyurethane sponge from sliding and being squeezed, thereby improving the comfort of the mattress topper. The mattress topper is practicable to be used instead of a bed sheet.

[0030] The top fabric 1.1 comprises woven fabric, knitted fabric, or non-woven fabric; and the fabric weight is within the range of 80-350 g/m.sup.2. The bottom fabric 1.2 comprises woven fabric, knitted fabric, or non-woven fabric, and the fabric weight is within the range of 50-110 g/m.sup.2. The top fabric 1.1 has a higher density than the related art, which makes the fabric more comfortable to the touch. The bottom fabric 1.2 has a lower density than the related art, which leads to better air permeability and moisture dissipation, as well as reduced possibility of mildew and bacteria breeding on the mattress topper.

[0031] The plurality of gusseted sidewalls 1.3 is in the shape of a circular arc surface. When compressed, the cover 1 is squeezed to both sides and the plurality of gusseted sidewalls 1.3 due to good elasticity can bear a greater squeezing force, which prevents the cover 1 from being deformed under pressure.

[0032] The skirt 2 comprises a bottom edge and a circular elastic band 4 disposed on the bottom edge so as to secure the mattress topper to a mattress, thereby preventing the mattress topper from sliding.

[0033] The polyester fiber in the filler layer 3 has a thickness of 0.7-15 D and a length of 32 mm, 51 mm, or 64 mm. The polyurethane sponge is not limited to specifications, shapes and sizes, thereby minimizing waste of the polyurethane sponge and saving costs.

[0034] A mixing ratio by mass of the polyester fiber to the polyurethane sponge is 1:1, 8:2, 7:3, or 6:4, which retains the supportability of the polyester fiber and the resilience of the polyurethane sponge, thereby enhancing the level of comfort for the user.

[0035] The cover 1 is connected to the filler layer 3 by quilting to form a regular pattern, such as a square, a rectangle, a diamond, or a wavy line, thereby giving an improved visual aesthetic.

[0036] It will be obvious to those skilled in the art that changes and modifications may be made, and therefore, the aim in the appended claims is to cover all such changes and modifications.
