CHILD-RESISTANT PACKAGING

Abstract

A package has a first side coupled to a second side to form a space for storing material therebetween, the space having a re-sealable proximal end and a distal end. The first side has a plurality of layers, the plurality of layers selected from the group consisting of selected from the group consisting of OPP (oriented polypropylene film), KRAFT paper, VMPET (vacuum metallized polyester film), PE (polyethylene plastic), and PET (polyethylene terephthalate). The re-sealable proximal end has a tear strip and a zipper engagement, the zipper engagement distal of the tear strip. The tear strip is configured to be torn off to expose the zipper engagement. The zipper engagement is re-sealable.

Claims

2. A package, comprising: a first side coupled to a second side to form a space for storing material therebetween, the space having a re-sealable proximal end and a distal end; wherein the first side comprises a plurality of layers, the plurality of layers selected from the group consisting of selected from the group consisting of OPP (oriented polypropylene film), KRAFT paper, VMPET (vacuum metallized polyester film), PE (polyethylene plastic), and PET (polyethylene terephthalate); the re-sealable proximal end comprises a tear strip and a zipper engagement, the zipper engagement distal of the tear strip; the tear strip is configured to be torn off to expose the zipper engagement; and wherein the zipper engagement is re-sealable.

3. The package of claim 2, wherein: a layer plurality of layers comprises at least 3 layers.

4. The package of claim 2, further comprising: a layer of coloring between two of the plurality of layers.

5. The package of claim 2, further comprising: coloring mixed with at least one of the plurality of layers.

The package of claim 2, wherein: the plurality of layers comprises a layer of OPP (oriented polypropylene film) exterior of a layer of KRAFT paper, the layer of KRAFT paper further exterior of a layer of VMPET (vacuum metallized polyester film), the VMPET further exterior of a layer of PE (polyethylene plastic).

7. The package of claim 2, wherein: the plurality of layers comprises a layer of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) exterior of a layer of VMPET (vacuum metallized polyester film), the layer of VMPET exterior of a layer of PE (polyethylene plastic).

8. The package of claim 2, wherein: the re-sealable proximal end comprises a child-resistant feature.

FEATURE DESCRIPTION

[0017] With reference now to FIGS. 1-3, a child-resistant package 100 is described. The package 100 may have a first side 102 and a second side 104 coupled to the first side 102. A tear strip 108 may be provided. Instructions 101 for opening may be placed on one or both sides 102, 104 of the package 100.

[0018] FIGS. 4-6 illustrate the package 100 with a top portion torn off at tear strip 108 to expose a zipper engagement 110. The tearing of the top portion may result in the first side 102 having a first tear portion 108a and the second side 104 having a second tear portion 108b, and the zipper engagement 110 separating to a first zipper portion 110a and a second zipper portion 110b.

[0019] As illustrated in FIG. 7, the first side 102 and/or the second side 104 may include a plurality of layers.

[0020] In some embodiments, a side 102 may have an outer side 102a, a layer of OPP 122, a layer of KRAFT 124, a layer of VMPET 126, a layer of PE 128, and an interior side 102.

[0021] In some embodiments, a side 102 may have an outer side 102a, a layer of PET 132, a layer of VMPET 134, a layer of PE 136, and an interior side 102b.

[0022] In some embodiments, a side 102 may have an outer side 102a and an inner side 102a, a plurality of layers 142. 144, 146, 150, which may be selected from the group consisting of OPP, KRAFT VMPET, PE, and PET. The side 102 may further include a layer of coloring 148 between or mixed with the plurality of layers 142, 144, 146, 150.
