BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

(1) Field of the Invention

(2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98

[0006] The disclosure and prior art relates to garments and more particularly pertains to a new garment for therapeutic pain relief.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0007] An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a shell that is meshed. The shell is shaped complementarily to a portion of a body of a user so that the shell is configured to position over the portion of the body of the user. A plurality of pads is coupled to the shell so that each pad is positioned proximate to an area of pain in the portion of the body of the user. Each pad comprises a radiant barrier so that the pad is configured to reflect electromagnetic radiation emitted by the body to provide localized heating of the area of pain to reduce a level of pain.

[0008] There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

[0009] The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)

[0010] The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

[0011] FIG. 1 is an isometric perspective view of a pain-relieving garment according to an embodiment of the disclosure.

[0012] FIG. 2 is an in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

[0013] FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0014] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 3 thereof, a new garment embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

[0015] As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 3, the pain-relieving garment 10 generally comprises a shell 12 that is meshed. The shell 12 is shaped complementarily to a portion of a body of a user so that the shell 12 is configured to position over the portion of the body of the user. The shell 12 comprises a shirt 14, a pair of pants 16, and a pair of gloves 18, as shown in FIG. 2. The shirt 14 is long-sleeved. The gloves 18 are fingerless type.

[0016] A plurality of pads 20 is coupled to the shell 12 so that each pad 20 is positioned proximate to an area of pain in the portion of the body of the user, as shown in FIG. 2. Each pad 20 comprises a radiant barrier 22 so that the pad 20 is configured to reflect electromagnetic radiation emitted by the body to provide localized heating of the area of pain to reduce a level of pain. The localized heating also increases blood circulation in the area of pain.

[0017] Each pad 20 has a respective shape so that the plurality of pads 20 comprises pads 20 that have a variety of shapes. The pads 20 are circularly shaped or the like. Each pad 20 comprises a first layer 24 that is positioned adjacent to the shell 12, as shown in FIG. 3. The first layer 24 comprises aluminum, or the like, so that the first layer 24 is configured to reflect the electromagnetic radiation. A second layer 26 is coupled to the first layer 24 distal from the shell 12. The second layer 26 comprises cloth. The second layer 26 is black colored. A third layer 28 is positioned between the first layer 24 and the second layer 26, as shown in FIG. 3. The third layer 28 comprises mylar or the like. The first layer 24 and the second layer 26 comprise aluminumized mylar.

[0018] The plurality of pads 20 comprises a plurality of shoulder pads 30 that is coupled to the shirt 14 so that each shoulder pad 30 is positioned proximate to a respective shoulder of the user wearing the shirt 14. A plurality of back pads 32 is coupled to the shirt 14 so that each back pad 32 is positioned proximate to a lower back of the user wearing the shirt 14. A plurality of neck pads 34 is coupled to the shirt 14 so that each neck pad 34 is positioned proximate to a lower neck of the user wearing the shirt 14. A plurality of elbow pads 36 is coupled to the shirt 14 so that each elbow pad 36 is positioned proximate to a respective elbow of the user wearing the shirt 14.

[0019] The plurality of pads 20 also comprises a plurality of hip pads 38 that is coupled to the pair of pants 16 so that each hip pad 38 is positioned proximate to a respective hip of the user wearing the pair of pants 16. A plurality of knee pads 40 is coupled to the pair of pants 16 so that each knee pad 40 is positioned proximate to a respective knee of the user wearing the pair of pants 16. A plurality of ankle pads 42 is coupled to the pair of pants 16 so that each ankle pad 42 is positioned proximate to a respective ankle of the user wearing the pair of pants 16.

[0020] The plurality of pads 20 also comprises a plurality of hand pads 44. Each hand pad 44 is coupled to a respective glove 18 so that each hand pad 4 is positioned proximate to a respective hand of the user wearing the pair of gloves 18.

[0021] The present invention also anticipates the pads 20 being selectively and reversibly couplable to the shell 12, thus allowing the user to selectively couple a respective pad 20 to the shell 12 to treat a specific area of pain. Reversible coupling of the pads 20 to the shell 12 could be accomplished utilizing methods well known to those skilled in the art, including but not limited to the use of hook and loop fasteners.

[0022] In use, the user dons the shell 12, positioning the pads 20 proximate to the areas of pain in the body of the user. The electromagnetic radiation emitted by the body is reflected by the pads 20 to provide localized heating of the areas of pain to reduce the level of pain.

[0023] With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

[0024] Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word "comprising" is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article "a" does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
