COMBINATION EYELASH CURLER AND MASCARA APPLICATOR
Abstract
A hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device that enhances
an eyelash of a user both by applying mascara to the eyelash of the
user and by curling the eyelash of the user. The hand-held,
dual-function, and enhancement device includes a hand grip, a
mascara assembly, and a eyelash curling assembly. The hand grip is
hand-held by the user. The mascara assembly is operatively
connected to the hand grip, and applies the mascara to the eyelash
of the user. The eyelash curling assembly is operatively connected
to the hand grip, and curls the eyelash of the user.

Claims
1. A hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device for enhancing
an eyelash of a user both by applying mascara to the eyelash of the
user and by curling the eyelash of the user, comprising: a) a hand
grip; b) a mascara assembly; and c) a eyelash curling assembly;
wherein said hand grip is for being hand-held by the user; wherein
said mascara assembly is operatively connected to said hand grip;
wherein said mascara assembly is for applying the mascara to the
eyelash of the user; wherein said eyelash curling assembly is
operatively connected to said hand grip; and wherein said eyelash
curling assembly is for curling the eyelash of the user.
2. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim 1,
wherein said hand grip is hollow for lightweight.
3. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim 1,
wherein said hand grip is cylindrically shaped for fitting
comfortably in a hand of the user.
4. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim 1,
wherein said hand grip has a proximal end.
5. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim 4,
wherein said hand grip has a distal end.
6. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim 5,
wherein said mascara assembly includes said hand grip containing a
tube; and wherein said tube of said mascara assembly is for storing
the mascara.
7. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim 6,
wherein said tube of said mascara assembly is disposed
concentrically within said hand grip.
8. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim 6,
wherein said tube of said mascara assembly is disposed axially
within said hand grip.
9. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim 6,
wherein said tube of said mascara assembly has a proximal end.
10. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
6, wherein said tube of said mascara assembly has a distal end.
11. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
9, wherein said proximal end of said tube of said mascara assembly
is disposed at said proximal end of said hand grip.
12. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
10, wherein said distal end of said tube of said mascara assembly
is disposed slightly below said distal end of said hand grip.
13. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
9, wherein said proximal end of said tube of said mascara assembly
contains female threads.
14. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
13, wherein said proximal end of said tube of said mascara assembly
is an open proximal end.
15. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
14, wherein said mascara assembly includes a brush subassembly; and
wherein said brush subassembly of said mascara assembly is for
brushing the mascara onto the eyelash of the user.
16. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
15, wherein said brush subassembly of said mascara assembly
selectively closes said open proximal end of said proximal end of
said tube of said mascara assembly.
17. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
15, wherein said brush subassembly of said mascara assembly
includes a cap.
18. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
17, wherein said cap of said brush subassembly of said mascara
assembly has a main portion.
19. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
18, wherein said main portion of said cap of said brush subassembly
of said mascara assembly selectively closes said open proximal end
of said proximal end of said tube of said mascara assembly.
20. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
18, wherein said main portion of said cap of said brush subassembly
of said mascara assembly is disk-shaped.
21. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
18, wherein said main portion of said cap of said brush subassembly
of said mascara assembly is hollow.
22. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
18, wherein said main portion of said cap of said brush subassembly
of said mascara assembly has an interior surface.
23. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
22, wherein said interior surface of said main portion of said cap
of said brush subassembly of said mascara assembly has a
center.
24. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
23, wherein said cap of said brush subassembly of said mascara
assembly has a boss.
25. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
24, wherein said boss of said cap of said brush subassembly of said
mascara assembly extends axially from said center of said interior
surface of said main portion of said cap of said brush subassembly
of said mascara assembly.
26. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
24, wherein said boss of said cap of said brush subassembly of said
mascara assembly selectively enters said open proximal end of said
proximal end of said tube of said mascara assembly.
27. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
24, wherein said brush subassembly of said mascara assembly has a
rod.
28. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
27, wherein said rod of said brush subassembly of said mascara
assembly extends axially from said center of said interior surface
of said main portion of said cap of said brush subassembly of said
mascara assembly.
29. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
27, wherein said rod of said brush subassembly of said mascara
assembly extends concentrically through said boss of said cap of
said brush subassembly of said mascara assembly to a terminal
end.
30. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
27, wherein said rod of said brush subassembly of said mascara
assembly selectively enters said tube of said mascara assembly.
31. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
29, wherein said brush subassembly of said mascara assembly has
bristles.
32. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
31, wherein said bristles of said brush subassembly of said mascara
assembly are disposed on said terminal end of said rod of said
brush subassembly of said mascara assembly.
33. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
31, wherein said bristles of said brush subassembly of said mascara
assembly selectively enter said tube of said mascara assembly.
34. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
31, wherein said boss of said cap of said brush subassembly of said
mascara assembly has male threads therearound.
35. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
34, wherein said male threads of said boss of said cap of said
brush subassembly of said mascara assembly selectively engage said
female threads of said proximal end of said tube of said mascara
assembly.
36. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
35, wherein said cap of said brush subassembly of said mascara
assembly closes off said proximal end of said hand grip and said
bristles of said cap of said brush subassembly of said mascara
assembly contact the mascara stored in said tube of said mascara
assembly and become engorged with the mascara when said male
threads of said boss of said cap of said brush subassembly of said
mascara assembly engage said female threads of said proximal end of
said tube of said mascara assembly.
37. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
35, wherein said cap of said brush subassembly of said mascara
assembly opens said proximal end of said hand grip and said
bristles of said cap of said brush subassembly of said mascara
assembly become ready for application of the mascara to the eyelash
of the user when said male threads of said boss of said cap of said
brush subassembly of said mascara assembly disengage from said
female threads of said proximal end of said tube of said mascara
assembly.
38. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
5, wherein said eyelash curling assembly includes a fixed
frame.
39. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
38, wherein said fixed frame of said eyelash curling assembly is
fixedly attached to said distal end of said hand grip.
40. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
38, wherein said fixed frame of said eyelash curling assembly
extends axially from said distal end of said hand grip.
41. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
38, wherein said fixed frame of said eyelash curling assembly
extends to a fixed upper jaw.
42. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
41, wherein said fixed upper jaw of said eyelash curling assembly
is concave-convex-shaped for matching that of the eyelash of the
user.
43. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
41, wherein said eyelash curling assembly includes a movable lower
jaw.
44. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
43, wherein said movable lower jaw of said eyelash curling assembly
is concave-convex-shaped for matching that of the eyelash of the
user.
45. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
43, wherein said movable lower jaw of said eyelash curling assembly
is movably mounted to said fixed frame of said eyelash curling
assembly.
46. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
43, wherein said movable lower jaw of said eyelash curling assembly
moves towards said fixed upper jaw 66 of said eyelash curling
assembly.
47. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
43, wherein said movable lower jaw of said eyelash curling assembly
moves away from said fixed upper jaw of said eyelash curling
assembly.
48. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
43, wherein when said movable lower jaw of said eyelash curling
assembly moves toward said fixed upper jaw of said eyelash curling
assembly and captures the eyelash of the user therebetween, the
eyelash of the user is curled.
49. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
43, wherein said eyelash curling assembly includes an intermediate
link.
50. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
49, wherein said intermediate link of said eyelash curling assembly
is movably attached to said fixed frame of said eyelash curling
assembly.
51. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
49, wherein said intermediate link of said eyelash curling assembly
is movably attached to said movable lower jaw of said eyelash
curling assembly.
52. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
49, wherein said eyelash curling assembly includes a mechanical
rocker switch.
53. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
52, wherein said mechanical rocker switch of said eyelash curling
assembly is pivotally attached to said fixed frame of said eyelash
curling assembly.
54. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
52, wherein said mechanical rocker switch of said eyelash curling
assembly is pivotally attached to said fixed frame of said eyelash
curling assembly by a pivot pin.
55. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
52, wherein said mechanical rocker switch of said eyelash curling
assembly is movably attached to said intermediate link of said
eyelash curling assembly, so when said mechanical rocker switch of
said eyelash curling assembly is depressed, said intermediate link
of said eyelash curling assembly is caused to move up, and in doing
so, moves said movable lower jaw of said eyelash curling assembly
upwards towards said fixed upper jaw of said eyelash curling
assembly thereby capturing the eyelash of the user
therebetween.
56. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
52, wherein said eyelash curling assembly includes a spring.
57. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
56, wherein said spring of said eyelash curling assembly is
positioned against said fixed frame of said eyelash curling
assembly and said mechanical rocker switch of said eyelash curling
assembly, and in doing so, biases said mechanical rocker switch of
said eyelash curling assembly to maintain said movable lower jaw of
said eyelash curling assembly lowered when said mechanical rocker
switch of said eyelash curling assembly is released.
58. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
52, wherein said eyelash curling assembly includes a cover.
59. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
58, wherein said cover of said eyelash curling assembly is
replaceably attached to said distal end of said hand grip.
60. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
58, wherein said cover of said eyelash curling assembly covers and
protects said fixed frame of said eyelash curling assembly, said
fixed upper jaw of said eyelash curling assembly, said movable
lower jaw of said eyelash curling assembly, said intermediate link
of said eyelash curling assembly, and said mechanical rocker switch
of said eyelash curling assembly, while allowing removal thereof to
access said fixed frame of said eyelash curling assembly, said
fixed upper jaw of said eyelash curling assembly, said movable
lower jaw of said eyelash curling assembly, said intermediate link
of said eyelash curling assembly, and said mechanical rocker switch
of said eyelash curling assembly for maintenance.
61. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
58, wherein said cover. of said eyelash curling assembly is
transparent to allow viewing of said fixed frame of said eyelash
curling assembly, said fixed upper jaw of said eyelash curling
assembly, said movable lower jaw of said eyelash curling assembly,
said intermediate link of said eyelash curling assembly, and said
mechanical rocker switch of said eyelash curling assembly to
ascertain proper functioning.
62. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
58, wherein said cover of said eyelash curling assembly has a
slot.
63. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
62, wherein said slot of said cover of said eyelash curling
assembly is so positioned therein so as to allow access to both
said fixed upper jaw of said eyelash curling assembly and said
movable lower jaw of said eyelash curling assembly for allowing
entry of the eyelash of the user therebetween.
64. The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device of claim
62, wherein said slot of said cover of said eyelash curling
assembly is so positioned therein so as to allow access to said
mechanical rocker switch of said eyelash curling assembly for
activating curling of the eyelash of the user.
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Field of the Invention
[0001] The present invention relates to an eye dresser, and more
particularly, a combination eyelash curler and mascara
applicator.
Description of the Prior Art
[0002] Numerous innovations for eye-related cosmetic device have
been provided in the prior art that will be described. Even though
these innovations may be suitable for the specific individual
purposes to which they address, however, they differ from the
present invention.
[0003] A FIRST EXAMPLE, U.S. Pat. No. 2,196,235, Issued on Apr. 9,
1940, to Tuttle, et al. teaches a device including a pair of
channel members adapted to carry strips of cosmetic material. The
strips of cosmetic material is supported for their entire length in
the channel members. Further included is apparatus for connecting
the members for relative movement toward and away from each
other.
[0004] A SECOND EXAMPLE, U.S. Pat. No. 2,323,595, Issued on Jul. 6,
1943, to Hanisch teaches an applicator device including a pair of
arms, and apparatus for supporting the arms in opposing relation.
One of the arms is convex curved and the other is concave curved.
Further included, as viewed from between the arms, is a concave
surface formed in the convex arm and a convex surface in the
concave arm. The inner opposing surfaces of the arms are
substantially equally distant from each other. Further included is
a curved pad of uniform thickness mounted on the inner opposing
surface of each of the arms. At least one of the pads is
impregnated with mascara.
[0005] A THIRD EXAMPLE, U.S. Pat. No. 2,569,246, Issued on Sep. 25,
1951, to Marcellus teaches an appliance including a pair of
pivotally connected supports having a shield fixedly mounted on the
top end of one of the supports and a traveler slidably mounted on
that one support and connected to the other support to be moved
toward and away from the shield as the supports are pivoted
relative to on another, a holding device mounted on the other
support just below its point of attachment to the traveler, spaced
resilient gripper jaws extended upward from the holding device
slightly spaced from the rear of the traveler, an arcuate
applicator positioned substantially above the traveler, and a
handle extended rearward from the applicator in alignment with the
space between the gripper jaws and being of a width greater than
the space between the jaws. The handle has a reduced neck portion
engaged between the gripper jaws mounting the applicator in
position on the holding device.
[0006] A FOURTH EXAMPLE, U.S. Pat. No. 2,635,611, Issued on Apr.
21, 1953, to Marcellus teaches an eyelash curler including a shield
and a movable member, mascara and Vaseline applicator mounted for
movement with the moving member and including a T head pivot stud
and an applier element having an handle and a slot by which the
same is slidingly pivoted on the stud.
[0007] A FIFTH EXAMPLE, U.S. Pat. No. 2,675,004, Issued on Apr. 13,
1954, to Bablon teaches a combined eyelash comb and brush structure
including a frame having a lower handle portion and upward
extending and diverging arms, comb and brush elements, and
apparatus at the upper ends of the arms for detachably supporting
the comb and brush elements in spaced relation. The apparatus
includes a bracket at the upper end of each arm having spaced
recesses extending downwardly from its upper end. The walls of the
recesses receive the terminals of the comb and brush elements in
forced-fit relation. The comb element is arcuately curved when
viewed from above and which is provided with spaced teeth extending
upwardly from its upper edge. The teeth are of such length that the
upper terminals thereof form a convexly curved arc. The brush
element is similarly shaped and is formed with bristles whose upper
terminals are aligned generally with the teeth of the comb
element.
[0008] A SIXTH EXAMPLE, U.S. Pat. No. 5,307,826, Issued on May 3,
1994, to Iosilevich teaches an apparatus for applying fluid matter
to eyelashes, which includes a member having an applicator surface
for receiving fluid matter and transferring fluid matter onto an
eyelash, a vessel structurally connected to the member for
containing the fluid matter, a passageway extending from the vessel
to the applicator surface, and a pump for pumping fluid matter from
the vessel through the passageway to the applicator surface. The
vessel is, preferably, contained within the member, and more
specifically, within a void within the member, and the vessel is,
preferably, a cartridge that can be removed from the void and
replaced. The pump is, preferably, contained within the vessel. The
vessel wall is, preferably, cylindrical, having two open ends, and
having end walls that conform to, and slidably fit within, the
vessel wall open ends so that the end walls advance toward each
other as fluid is pumped out of the middle of the vessel. A second
member is, preferably, provided also having an applicator surface.
The second member is attached to the first member in a hinged
relationship so that the applicator surfaces meet when the members
are pivoted together. The applicator surfaces are, preferably,
curved to conform to the curvature of a human eyelid and also
curved to bend eyelashes gripped between the applicator surfaces
into a curve. A bristled pad member is also provided for removable
attachment to an applicator surface. Each member, preferably,
includes a handle portion for holding and operating the
apparatus.
[0009] A SEVENTH EXAMPLE, U.S. Pat. No. 7,640,938, Issued on Jan.
5, 2010, to Okajima, et al. teaches a mascara applicator integrally
contains curling apparatus for holding eyelashes to curl the
eyelashes into a certain shape, mascara adhering apparatus for
adhering a mascara agent to the eyelashes, and mascara supplying
apparatus for supplying the mascara agent to the mascara adhering
apparatus.
[0010] AN EIGHTH EXAMPLE, U.S. Pat. No. 7,980,776, Issued on Jul.
19, 2011, to Cho teaches a heated mascara device having a mascara
container housing, a mascara formulation, and a mascara applicator
having an applicator head control heated by a heating system. The
heating system turns on when the mascara applicator is disengaged
from the mascara container and turns off when the mascara
applicator is engaged with the mascara container. The applicator
head has two sets of lined tooth protruding from a casing of the
applicator head. A first set of a single combing toothed strip for
combing the eyelashes and a second set of a plurality of lined
applicator toothed strips for applying the mascara to the
eyelashes.
[0011] It is apparent now that numerous innovations for eye-related
cosmetic device have been provided in the prior art that adequate
for various purposes. Furthermore, even though these innovations
may be suitable for the specific individual purposes to which they
address, accordingly, they would not be suitable for the purposes
of the present invention as heretofore described.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0012] AN OBJECT of the present invention is to provide a
combination eyelash curler and mascara applicator that avoids the
disadvantages of the prior art.
[0013] ANOTHER OBJECT of the present invention is to provide a
combination eyelash curler and mascara applicator that is simple
and inexpensive to manufacture.
[0014] STILL ANOTHER OBJECT of the present invention is to provide
a combination eyelash curler and mascara applicator that is simple
to use.
[0015] BRIEFLY STATED, STILL YET ANOTHER OBJECT of the present
invention is to provide a hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement
device that enhances an eyelash of a user both by applying mascara
to the eyelash of the user and by curling the eyelash of the user.
The hand-held, dual-function, and enhancement device includes a
hand grip, a mascara assembly, and a eyelash curling assembly. The
hand grip is hand-held by the user. The mascara assembly is
operatively connected to the hand grip, and applies the mascara to
the eyelash of the user. The eyelash curling assembly is
operatively connected to the hand grip, and curls the eyelash of
the user.

method of operation, together with additional objects and
advantages thereof, will be best understood from the following
