Description
RELATED PATENT APPLICATIONS
[0001] The present invention is based on provisional patent
application No. 62/519,554.
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0002] The present invention relates to a bag or cover used to
protect large and/or bulky objects from soilage, moisture and other
damage during storage and transport. The bag or cover comprises a
flexible material comprising some combination of polyethylene,
polypropylene, or another polyolefin plastic which is made using a
virgin resin (resin produced directly from raw material feedstocks
which have never been used or processed before), PCR (post-consumer
recycled-resin resulting from a plant processing plastic products
turned in by consumers for recycling), PIR (post-industrial
resin-resin resulting from a plant processing scrap/waste resin
from the plastic manufacturing process and also known as
pre-consumer recycled), or any combination of same. An organic
additive can be added to aid in the decomposition of the bag or
cover. The invention further relates to a T-sack made using PCR
resin, PIR resin, virgin resin, or any combination of the same. An
organic additive can be added to aid in the decomposition of the
T-sack.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0003] The prior art teaches that most bags and covers are made
from 100% virgin resin to achieve desired mechanical properties
(e.g., tear, puncture, abrasion, fatigue) for use in the
transportation, storage, and covering of objects.
[0004] Recently, many state governments (e.g California, Oregon,
Wisconsin) have begun requiring that certain plastics contain a
mandated percentage of re-processed resin. Such legislation
recognizes that although recycling does not reduce energy use or
emissions to the degree that reuse does, mandating re-processed
content sets forces in motion that will replace virgin material
with reclaimed resources.
[0005] The present invention teaches that certain combinations of
virgin and re-processed resins or 100% re-processed resins can be
successfully used to create bags covers and T-Shirt bags (commonly
known as T-sacks) with thicknesses under 10 ml that provide
adequate mechanical properties so that they can be used as it
relates to bags and covers, in the transportation, storage and
covering of objects, and as it relates to T-Sacks, in the carrying
of small objects.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0006] The present invention relates to a bag or cover used to
protect large and/or bulky objects, including, mattresses, soft
home goods and furniture from soilage, moisture and other damage
during transport and storage. The bag is made from a flexible film
with at least one opening for placing the objects into the carrier.
The bag is closed once the objects are placed inside. The cover is
made from a flexible film, and is designed to cover such products
as upholstery covers, dust covers, liners, and sheeting.
