with the extending portion. The extending portion is formed with an
opening at one end distal to the connecting portion. The connecting
portion protrudes outwardly along the lid's radial direction, and
one end of the connecting portion distal to the extending portion
dents inwardly to form an annular containing space. Multiple ribs
are formed protruding on where the extending portion is adjacent to
the connecting portion. Also provided is a container assembly
including the lid and a cup body having a cup rim. With one end of

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
1. Field of the Invention
[0001] The present invention relates to a lid, especially a lid
having a connecting portion and multiple ribs, and the present
invention also relates to a container assembly having the lid and a
cup body.
2. Description of the Prior Arts
[0002] At present there are a lot of beverages on the market, the
beverage types vary from coffee to black tea and even smoothies, so
disposable beverage cups have become one of the items people
frequently use and carry around them.
[0003] Please refer to FIG. 7 and FIG. 8. The conventional beverage
cup has a cup 80 and a lid 90, the lid 90 having an arced cover 91,
a covering portion 92 and a prolonging portion 93 connected in
order; wherein the covering portion 92 protrudes outwardly along
the lid 90's radial direction, and in order to make the lid 90 easy
to cover the lid rim, one side of the prolonging portion 93
adjacent to the covering portion 92 dents at spaced intervals along
the radial direction of the lid 90. However, the smoothies
contained in the cup usually exceed the cup rim to inside of the
lid 90, and when the smoothies are melted or the cup 80 tilts,
causing liquid to exceed the cup rim, the liquid would be spilled
from the portion that is not concave in the prolonging portion 93.
Besides, the users usually hold the cup 80 in one hand and take the
uppermost lid 90 from the multiple stacked lids 90 by the other
hand when serving drinks, however, the stacked arced covers 91 in
the conventional beverage cup easily tilt and fall, so it is
difficult to take the uppermost lid 90 when the lids 90 are
stacked.
[0004] For this reason, how to develop a cup lid that is unlikely
to leak when engaged to the cup, and is easy to pick up when
stacked, the current technique needs to be further improved.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0005] To overcome the shortcomings, the object of the present
invention is to provide a lid which can be engaged to a cup tightly
and is easy to pick up when stacked.
[0006] To achieve the aforementioned objective of the present
invention, the present invention provides a lid comprising a lid
body and multiple ribs. The lid body contains an extending portion
and a connecting portion connected with the extending portion. The
extending portion is formed with an opening at one end distal to
the connecting portion. The connecting portion protrudes outwardly
along the lid body's radial direction, and one end of the
connecting portion distal to the extending portion dents radially
and inwardly to form an annular containing space. The multiple ribs
are formed protruding on where the extending portion is adjacent to
the connecting portion.
[0007] Preferably, the peripheral edge of the radial cross-section
of the extending portion is tapered toward the opening.
[0008] Preferably, the radial cross-section of the lid body is
round.
[0009] Preferably, the lid body further has a guide portion which
is connected to one end of the connecting portion distal to the
extending portion, and the guide portion is in the shape of an
annular plate.
[0010] Preferably, the number of the ribs is eight, and the ribs
are spaced apart from each other.
[0011] The present invention also provides a container assembly
having the lid of the present invention and a cup body, and the cup
body has a cup rim, which is set on the connecting portion of the
lid body and contained in the annular containing space.
[0012] The present invention has the advantage that the lid is easy
to pick up. When multiple lids are stacked, the upper lid is spaced
apart from the lower lid by the ribs, and thus the lids can keep
stacking upward without being tilted at the same time; with the
connecting portion continuously denting toward the inside of the
lid body at one end distal to the extending portion, the cup rim
and the connecting portion can be tightly engaged to avoid leakage
of the liquid in the cup body due to inclination.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0021] Hereinafter, the technical means in accordance with the
present invention for achieving the foresaid objectives are
illustrated from the following figures and preferable examples.
[0022] Please refer to FIG. 1. A lid of the present invention
comprises a lid body 10 and multiple ribs 20. In one preferred
embodiment, the radial cross-section of the lid body 10 is
round.
[0023] Please refer to FIG. 1 to FIG. 3. The lid body 10 contains
an extending portion 11, a connecting portion 12 and a guide
portion 13. The extending portion 11 is formed with an opening 111
at one end distal to the connecting portion 12. In one preferred
embodiment, the peripheral edge of the radial cross section of the
extending portion 11 is tapered toward the opening. 111. The
connecting portion 12 protrudes outwardly along a radial direction
of the lid body 10. One end of the connecting portion 12 is
connected with the extending portion 11, and the other end of the
connecting portion 12 dents radially and inwardly to form an
annular containing space 121.
[0024] The multiple ribs 20 are formed protruding on where the
extending portion 11 is adjacent to the connecting portion 12. In
one preferred embodiment, the number of the ribs 20 is eight, and
the ribs 20 are spaced apart from each other.
[0025] Please refer to FIG. 4. The lids of the present invention
can be stacked with each other. The lower rib 20 abuts against the
inner side of its upper rib 20 to reduce the storage space and to
keep stacking upward without tilting at the same time. As the upper
lid is spaced apart from the lower lid by the ribs 20, it would not
be difficult to pick up the upper lid due to the negative pressure
caused by the close abutment between the upper and the lower lids,
and thus the user can pick up the upper lid easily.
[0026] Please refer to FIG. 5 and FIG. 6. A container assembly has
the lid of the present invention and a cup body 30. The cup body 30
has a cup rim 31, which is set on the connecting portion 12 of the
lid body 10 and contained in the annular containing space 121.
[0027] When the container assembly of the present invention is in
use, the lid is set on the cup rim 31, with the connecting portion
12 continuously denting toward the inside of the lid body 10 at one
end of the connecting portion 12 that is distal to the extending
portion 11, the cup rim 31 and the connecting portion 12 can be
tightly engaged and firmly placed inside the annular containing
space 121, and even when the liquid in the cup body 30 exceeds the
cup rim 31, it would not be leaking from the junction between the
cup rim 31 and the connecting portion 12.
[0028] Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the
present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description,
together with details of the structure and features of the
invention, the disclosure is illustrative only. Changes may be made
in the details, especially in matters of shape, size, and
arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the
full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in
which the appended claims are expressed.
