Electrically Insulated Glove Assembly
Abstract
An electrically insulated glove assembly includes a glove having
a palm cover, a back hand cover and five finger sleeves. The palm
cover and the back hand cover are attached along their respective
lateral edges to facility full covering of a person's hand. The
glove includes a front side and a back side. Each of the finger
sleeves has a lateral edge positioned between each of the front and
back sides. An elastomeric layer is positioned on the glove and
completely covers the front side of the glove. A portion of the
back side of the glove is free of the elastomeric layer. The
elastomeric layer is flexible to allow bending of the palm cover
and each of the finger sleeves.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
(1) Field of the Invention
(2) Description of Related Art including information disclosed
under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98
[0006] The disclosure and prior art relates to hand electricity
protecting devices and more particularly pertains to a new hand
electricity protecting device for allowing work in small and tight
places while providing protection from electric shock.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0007] An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented
above by generally comprising a glove including a palm cover, a
back hand cover and five finger sleeves. The palm cover and the
back hand cover are attached along their respective lateral edges
to facility full covering of a person's hand. The glove includes a
front side and a back side. Each of the finger sleeves has a
lateral edge positioned between each of the front and back sides.
An elastomeric layer is positioned on the glove and completely
covers the front side of the glove. A portion of the back side of
the glove is free of the elastomeric layer. The elastomeric layer
is flexible to allow bending of the palm cover and each of the
finger sleeves.
[0008] There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more
important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed
description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in
order that the present contribution to the art may be better
appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that
will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject
matter of the claims appended hereto.
[0009] The objects of the disclosure, along with the various
features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed
out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part
of this disclosure.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)
[0010] The disclosure will be better understood and objects other
than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration
is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such
description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
[0011] FIG. 1 is a front view of an electrically insulated glove
assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure.
[0012] FIG. 2 is a back view of an embodiment of the
disclosure.
[0013] FIG. 3 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the
disclosure.
[0014] FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of an embodiment of the
disclosure taken along line 4-4 of FIG. 2.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0015] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 4 thereof, a new hand electricity protecting device
embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the
disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10
will be described.
[0016] As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 4, the electrically
insulated glove assembly 10 generally comprises a glove 12
including a palm cover 14, a back hand cover 16 and five finger
sleeves 18. The palm cover 12 and the back hand cover 16 are
attached along their respective lateral edges 20 to facility full
covering of a person's hand in a conventional manner. The glove 12
is comprised of a synthetic fibers that are resiliently
stretchable. The synthetic fibers 12 are comprised of elastane
which is also known as spandex or lycra. This material allows for
breathability and high stretching capacities. The glove 12 includes
a front side 22 and a back side 24 and each of the finger sleeves
18 has a lateral edge 26 positioned between each of the respective
front 22 and back 24 sides. The front side 22 is defined as
including the palm cover 14.
[0017] An elastomeric layer 28 is positioned on the glove 12 and
that completely covers the front side 22 of the glove 12. The
elastomeric layer 28 is flexible to allow bending of the palm cover
and each of the finger sleeves 18 but will have a thickness of
between 0.5 mm and 1.5 mm to allow for finger dexterity when
working with the gloves while providing protection from electric
shock. The elastomeric layer 28 extends over all of the lateral
edges 26 of the finger sleeves 18 and the lateral edges 20 of the
back hand cover 16 such that only a portion of the back sides 24 of
each of the finger sleeves 18 and only a portion of the back hand
cover 16 have the elastomeric layer 28 positioned thereon. This
will enhance the ability of finger movement when a person's fingers
are in the finger sleeves 18. The back hand cover 16 has an outer
surface area comprising less than 20% of the elastomeric layer 28.
Each of the finger sleeves 18 has an outer surface area comprising
at least 10% and less than 40% of the elastomeric layer 28.
[0018] A continuous cuff 30 is attached to and extends away from
the palm 14 and back hand 16 covers. The cuff 30 is unitary with
the glove 12 and therefore comprised of same material as the glove
12. The continuous cuff 30 is free of the elastomeric layer 28 to
allow it to stretch and grip a person's wrist.
[0019] In use, the glove 12 is worn in a conventional manner and in
particular is worn when a person is working with live electrical
wires such as when changing an outlet or light fixture. The
elastomeric coating 28, which may comprise a natural or synthetic
rubber, provides electrical insulation while the back side 24,
being substantially free of the elastomeric coating 28, allows for
fine motor skills which are not possible with heavy duty electrical
gloves.
[0020] With respect to the above description then, it is to be
realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts
of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations
in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation,
assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one
skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those
illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are
intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
[0021] Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only
of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous
modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in
the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact
construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly,
all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to,
falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent
document, the word "comprising" is used in its non-limiting sense
to mean that items following the word are included, but items not
specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element
by the indefinite article "a" does not exclude the possibility that
more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly
requires that there be only one of the elements.
