Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
1. Field of the Invention
[0001] Embodiments of the present invention relate generally to
compartmentalize luggage or travel bag. More particularly,
embodiments of the present invention relate to multi-portion
luggage or travel bags that have separate compartments.
2. Description of the Related Art
[0002] Many types of travel and luggage bags are known in the art.
Traveling and luggage bags traditionally used to carry a wide range
of items such as bath soaps, shoes, dirty and wet clothing,
perfume, hair accessories both wet and electrical, grooming
products, deodorant and jewelry. One problem frequently associated
with travel and sports bags is that items with different sizes and
shapes in one compartment make it difficult to find a particular
item. This is because items are usually stacked on top of open
another and small items often gets rooted under large items and
become immovable without taking everything out of the bag.
[0003] Further, because all items are stored in one large
compartment this often causes items to become damaged. This is
because items without any organization structured items often hit
against one another causing heavier items to break, damage and harm
smaller items and electronics.
[0004] Take, for example an overnight travel bag. Although most
travel bags offer a plurality of pockets this fails to secure items
because the pockets are usually too small, too narrow and too thin.
Items such as lotion, liquid bath soap, sports bottles, curling
irons and books have to be place in one compartment along with hair
brushes, perfume, toothbrushes, MP3 Players, cell phones, eyewear
and headphones. With the impact of the heavier items often hitting
the smaller ones it often results in broken electrical screens,
leakage, electrical wire damage, broken lenses and item lost. Even
though existing bags include side pockets on the interior or
exterior walls, fabric walls are too thin to prevent hard impact
among the items inside the one compartment and along the
pockets.
[0005] Not only do current bags have a lack of protection from
impact damage but they fail to prevent damage from broken items and
spills from spreading to other items.
[0006] Because of this other items are often damaged by liquid and
heavy impact because everything is confined to one compartment
and/or have a thin fabric of protection.
[0007] Further, because there is typically no way to organize the
items there are no compartments to store wet and dirty clothing or
hot electrical items. With most travel bags all items are confined
to one compartment causing wet items to spread moisture to other
items, dirty clothing and shoes can cause havoc to other items and
heated electrical items can cause burn damage to other items. Not
having separate compartments can be extremely problematic for
swimmers, runners and many people who live athletic lifestyles.
[0008] Travel and luggage bags for clothing and other items are
well known, and such bags have come in various sizes and shapes.
Travel and luggage bags have been commonly used as carry on bags
for airline travel. In addition, another major use for travel and
luggage bags is for carrying athletic clothing, equipment and
grooming products. A patent search developed the following U.S.
patents which are relevant to the present invention:
[0009] Edward Gerch et al, U.S. Pat. No. 4,830,154 issued Feb. 22,
1988

[0018] The bag of the prior art generally has a separate storage
compartment within the unit for grooming and personal items. These
bags either open from the top thereof, or open into two equal
halves about a vertical hinge axis, or have one of the larger broad
sides thereof pivot open about a horizontal hinge axis positioned
in the bottom floor of the bag.
[0019] Heretofore, there has been no disclosure of a travel and
luggage bag capable of a separate heating containment unit. With
most women accessories such as heating iron combs, curling irons,
hair straighteners and hot curlers. Existing bags also do have any
reflective surfaces such as glass or acrylic mirror sheet. Also,
missing from travel and luggage bags is a storage unit with
customizable compartment dividers that can be interlocked to fit
items of different shapes and sizes. These bags are also missing
storage compartments that can be removed from the unit and the
ability to fully wash and clean the compartment from the unit. Not
to be able to removed the storage compartment from the bag leads to
deterioration and mold.
[0020] The above bags also have fix size compartment that are
unable to adapt to items with unusual shapes.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0021] For reason included above, it is therefore a principal
object of embodiments of the present invention to provide a travel
bag in which a user can organize a plurality of small, large, wet
and heated items such that the user may easily and more efficiently
locate desired items, also reduce damage and spills.
[0022] Yet another object of embodiments of the present invention
is to provide a carrying bag that is separated into at least a top
portion and a bottom portion.
[0023] A further object of embodiments of the present invention is
to provide a travel and luggage bag that is separated into at least
a top portion and a bottom portion where the top is used to carry
large items such as clothing, shoes, weights, yoga mat, sport
balls, makeup kits and drinking bottles. The bottom portion would
be used to carry smaller items, liquids, wet clothing, bath
products and a heat resistant storage compartment.
[0024] A further object of the embodiment of the present invention
is to provide a heat resistant storage compartment made from
therma-flec fabric with a top opening and at least two sides that
can hold a number of electrical products that are heated such as
curling irons, straighteners and hot combs.
[0025] A still further object of embodiments of the present
invention is to provide a traveling and luggage bag that has a
removable storage unit with at least two sides and a bottom that
can be wash with warm water a cleaning supplies. This storage unit
can also been taken in the shower with bath supplies for the
consumer to use at the gym or travel.
[0026] Another feature of the present invention is a reflective
glass or mirror on the bottom of the upper portion of the bag. This
will help the user to efficiently and quickly be able to use their
grooming products and address physical appearance.
[0027] In one embodiment, the means for attaching the top and
bottom portions together may be a track system where the first and
second components are male and female tracks that have
corresponding geometries, which slidingly engage one another. In
another embodiment, the first component may be a female track and
the second component may comprise at least on post-type male
element that slidingly engages the female track. In a further
embodiment, the first component may be a shaped opening and the
second component may be a locking member having a complementary
shape to that of the shaped opening such that it can be received
and rotated within the shaped opening, thereby joining the top and
bottom portions of the carrying bag together.
[0028] The various features of novelty which characterize the
invention are pointed out in particularity in the claims annexed to
and forming a part of this disclosure. For a better understanding
of the invention, its operating advantages and specific objects
attained by its uses, reference is made to the accompanying
descriptive matter in which preferred embodiments of the invention
are illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
