Fluid Diversion Assembly

Abstract

A fluid diversion assembly for diverting the fluid in a selected direction includes a rail structured to have an upright portion extending upwardly from a horizontal portion. The rail may be positioned on a support surface such that the horizontal portion of the rail abuts the support surface. The horizontal portion of the rail is sloped such that the horizontal portion may divert a fluid in a selected direction. A plurality of fasteners is extended through the horizontal portion of the rail and engages the support surface such that the rail is retained on the support surface.

Claims



1. A fluid diversion assembly comprising: a rail structured to have an upright portion extending upwardly from a horizontal portion, said rail being configured to be positioned on a support surface such that said horizontal portion of said rail abuts the support surface, a top side of and outer wall of said rail being sloped away from said upright portion such that said top side of said outer wall of said rail is configured to divert a fluid in a selected direction; and a plurality of fasteners being extended through said horizontal portion of said rail and engaging the support surface such that said rail is retained on the support surface; and said outer wall extending between each of a first end and a second end of said rail, said first and second ends of said rail being closed, said a top side extending upwardly from a bottom side of said rail, said top side of said outer wall of said rail being spaced upwardly from said bottom side of said outer wall of said rail such that said upright portion and said horizontal portion of said rail are substantially hollow.

The assembly according to claim 2, further comprising said top side of said outer wall of said rail having a pair of curves each being evenly spaced apart from a center of said rail, said pair of curves each extending between said first and second ends of said rail such that said pair of curves defines said upright portion of said rail.

The assembly according to claim 3, further said top side of said outer wall of said rail sloping downwardly between said curves and an associated one of a first lateral edge and a second lateral edge of said bottom side of said outer wall of said rail such that said rail is configured to divert fluid away from said upright portion of said rail.

The assembly according to claim 4, further comprising said bottom side of said outer wall of said rail abutting the support surface such that said upright portion of said rail extends upwardly from the support surface wherein said rail is configured to be oriented to divert the fluid in a selected direction with respect to the support surface.

The assembly according to claim 2, further comprising said top side and said bottom side of said outer wall of said rail each having a plurality of apertures extending therethrough, said apertures being evenly spaced apart and distributed between said first and second ends of said rail, each of said apertures in said top side of said outer wall of said rail being aligned with an associated one of said apertures in said bottom side of said rail.

The assembly according to claim 6, further comprising said apertures comprising a first set and a second set of apertures, each of said first and second sets of apertures being positioned proximate to and being coextensive with an associated one of a first lateral edge and a second lateral edge of said bottom side of said outer wall of said rail.

The assembly according to claim 1, further comprising said fasteners each having a primary end and a secondary end, said fasteners being elongated between said primary and secondary ends, said fasteners each having a pair of bends thereon each being spaced apart such that said bends defines a central portion extending between each of a first oblique portion and a second oblique portion.

The assembly according to claim 8, further comprising: said rail having an outer wall having a top side and a bottom side; said top and bottom sides of said outer wall of said rail having a plurality of apertures extending therethrough; said apertures comprising a first set and a second set of apertures; said first oblique portion of each of said fasteners being extended downwardly through associated ones of said apertures in said top and bottom sides of said outer wall of said rail such that said central portion of said fasteners abuts said top side of said outer wall of said rail; said second oblique portion of said fasteners extending downwardly into the support surface such that said rail is retained on the support surface; and said fasteners being positioned in each of said first and second sets of said apertures.

10. A fluid diversion assembly comprising: a rail, said rail having an outer wall extending between each of a first end and a second end of said rail, said first and second ends of said rail being closed, said outer wall of said rail having a top side extending upwardly from a bottom side of said rail, said top side of said outer wall of said rail being spaced upwardly from said bottom side of said outer wall of said rail such that an upright portion and a horizontal portion of said rail are substantially hollow; said top side of said outer wall of said rail having a pair of curves each being evenly spaced apart from a center of said rail, said pair of curves each extending between said first and second ends of said rail such that said pair of curves defines said upright portion of said rail extending upwardly from said horizontal portion of said rail; said top side of said outer wall of said rail sloping downwardly between said curves and an associated one of a first lateral edge and a second lateral edge of said bottom side of said outer wall of said rail such that said top side of said outer wall of said rail is configured to divert fluid away from said upright portion of said rail; said rail being positioned on a support surface such that said bottom side of said outer wall of said rail abuts the support surface, said upright portion of said rail extending upwardly from the support surface wherein said rail is configured to be oriented to divert the fluid in a selected direction with respect to the support surface; said top side and said bottom side of said outer wall of said rail each having a plurality of apertures extending therethrough, said apertures being evenly spaced apart and distributed between said first and second ends of said rail, each of said apertures in said top side of said outer wall of said rail being aligned with an associated one of said apertures in said bottom side of said rail; said apertures comprising a first set and a second set of apertures, each of said first and second sets of apertures being positioned proximate to and being coextensive with an associated one of said first and second lateral edges of said bottom side of said outer wall of said rail; a plurality of fasteners, said fasteners each having a primary end and a secondary end, said fasteners being elongated between said primary and secondary ends, said fasteners each having a pair of bends thereon each being spaced apart such that said bends defines a central portion extending between each of a first oblique portion and a second oblique portion; said first oblique portion of each of said fasteners being extended downwardly through associated ones of said apertures in said top and bottom sides of said outer wall of said rail such that said central portion of said fasteners abuts said top side of said outer wall of said rail, said fasteners being positioned in each of said first and second sets of said apertures; and said second oblique portion of said fasteners extending downwardly into the support surface such that said rail is retained on the support surface.
Description



BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE

Field of the Disclosure

[0001] The disclosure relates to diversion devices and more particularly pertains to a new diversion device for diverting a fluid in a selected direction.

SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSURE

[0002] An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a rail structured to have an upright portion extending upwardly from a horizontal portion. The rail is positionable on a support surface such that the horizontal portion of the rail abuts the support surface. The horizontal portion of the rail is sloped such that the horizontal portion may divert a fluid in a selected direction. Each of a plurality of fasteners extends through the horizontal portion of the rail and engages the support surface such that the rail is retained on the support surface.

[0003] There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

[0004] The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0010] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 4 thereof, a new diversion device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

[0011] As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 4, the fluid diversion assembly 10 generally comprises a rail 12. The rail 12 has an outer wall 14 extending between each of a first end 16 and a second end 18 of the rail 12. The first 16 and second 18 ends of the rail 12 are closed. The outer wall 14 of the rail 12 has a top side 20 extending upwardly from a bottom side 22 of the rail 12. The top side 20 of the outer wall 14 of the rail 12 is spaced upwardly from the bottom side 22 of the outer wall 14 of the rail 12 such that the rail 12 is substantially hollow. The rail 12 may be comprised of a resiliently deformable material such as rubber or other similar material.

[0012] The top side 20 of the outer wall 14 of the rail 12 has a pair of curves 24 each evenly spaced apart from a center 26 of the rail 12. The pair of curves 24 each extends between the first 16 and second 18 ends of the rail 12. Moreover, the pair of curves 24 defines an upright portion 28 of the rail 12 extending upwardly from a horizontal portion 30 of the rail 12. The top side 20 of the outer wall 14 of the rail 12 slopes downwardly between the curves 24 and an associated one of a first lateral edge 32 and a second lateral edge 34 of the bottom side 22 of the outer wall 14 of the rail 12. The horizontal portion 30 of the rail 12 may divert a fluid 36 away from the upright portion 28 of the rail 12.

[0013] The rail 12 is positioned on a support surface 38 such that the bottom side 22 of the outer wall 14 of the rail 12 abuts the support surface 38. The upright portion 28 of the rail 12 extends upwardly from the support surface 38. The support surface 38 may be ground.

[0014] An aggregate 40 is positioned on the support surface 38. The aggregate 40 abuts a selected side of the horizontal 30 and upright 28 portions of the rail 12. The aggregate 40 covers a covered side 42 of the horizontal portion 30 of the rail 12. Additionally, the rail 12 retains the aggregate 40 in a selected arrangement on the support surface 38. Additionally, the aggregate 40 may define a roadway 44.

[0015] The top 20 and bottom 22 sides of the outer wall 14 of the rail 12 each have a plurality of apertures 46 extending therethrough. The apertures 46 are evenly spaced apart and distributed between the first 16 and second 18 ends of the rail 12. Each of the apertures 46 in the top side 20 of the outer wall 14 of the rail 12 is aligned with an associated one of the apertures 46 in the bottom side 22 of the rail 12. The apertures 46 comprise a first set 48 and a second set 50 of apertures 46. Each of the first 48 and second 50 sets of apertures are positioned proximate to and are coextensive with an associated one of the first 32 and second 34 lateral edges of the bottom side 22 of the outer wall 14 of the rail 12.

[0016] A plurality of fasteners 52 is provided. The fasteners 52 each have a primary end 54 and a secondary end 56. The fasteners 52 are elongated between the primary 54 and secondary 56 ends. The fasteners 52 each have a pair of bends 58 thereon. The bends 58 are spaced apart such that the bends 58 define a central portion 60 extending between each of a first oblique portion 62 and a second oblique portion 64. The second oblique portion 64 has a length that is greater a length of the first oblique portion 62.

[0017] The first oblique portion 62 of each of the fasteners is extended downwardly through associated ones of the apertures 46 in the top 20 and bottom 22 sides of the outer wall 14 of the rail 12. The central portion 60 of the fasteners 22 abuts the top side 20 of the outer wall 14 of the horizontal portion 30 of the rail 12. The fasteners 52 are positioned in each of the first 48 and second 50 sets of the apertures. The second oblique portion 64 of the fasteners 52 extends downwardly into the support surface 38 such that the rail 12 is retained on the support surface 38.

[0018] In use, the rail 12 is positioned on the support surface 38 to define an edge 66 of the roadway 44. An uncovered side 68 of the horizontal portion 30 of the rail 12 directs the fluid 36 away from the aggregate 40. The rail 12 may be oriented to divert the fluid 36 in a selected direction with respect to the support surface 38.

[0019] With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure.
