Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] 1. Field of the Invention

[0002] This invention relates to accessories for electronic devices. More particularly, this invention relates to a cover for protecting and supporting a tablet.

[0003] 2. Description of the Related Art

[0004] Tablet computers, or simply tablets, are more and more popular in these days because it is portable and entertaining. In particular, a variety of tablet covers have been devised for protecting tablets.

[0005] A conventional tablet cover comprises a top cover having a top cover hinge mounted on a side edge of the top cover; a bottom cover having a bottom cover hinge mounted on an outside surface of the bottom cover; and an extension arm swivel connected to the bottom cover at the bottom cover hinge. The length of the extension arm is approximately half of a width of the tablet cover. The intermediate hinge arm is swivel connected to the extension arm at an intermediate hinge and the intermediate hinge arm is swivel connected to the top cover at the top cover hinge. A length of the intermediate hinge arm is approximately a thickness of the tablet cover. The tablet cover has an open position, a stand position and a closed position. However, when the conventional tablet cover is in the stand position, a tablet can only positioned in one side of the tablet cover, that is inconvenient to operate and view the tablet as the people sit opposite to each other.

[0006] In view of the prior invention provided an inconvenience functions to people, the present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the disadvantages of the conventional tablet cover.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0007] The main objective of the present invention is to provide an improved tablet cover.

[0008] To achieve the objective, a protective and supporting cover for a tablet comprises a foldable cover, a plurality of positioning members, and a protective cover. The foldable cover having a first segment and a second segment connected to the first segment. The plurality of positioning members defined on inner side edges of the foldable cover for gripping the tablet; and the protective cover connected to the first segment and opposite to the second segment, the protective cover having a plurality of flipped holders on an outer side thereof. Wherein, the first segment and the second segment are foldable to each other to form a triangular support structure maintained by a selected one of the flipped holders so that the tablet is adapted to be placed upright at the first segment or the second segment.

[0009] Specifically, each of the flipped holders has a magnetic element defined therein, and the second segment has an magnetic-activated element therein for magnetically binding to the magnetic element of the respective foldable holder. The positioning members includes two snap-fit connectors respectively disposed at two corners of the second segment, and at least one gripping barrier disposed on an edge of the first segment adjacent to the protective cover. The snap-fit connectors are arc-shaped, and the gripping barrier is shaped as a long strap hook-like structure. The protective cover has a pen holder for retaining the writing instrument. Each of the flipped holder has a label on a surface thereof. The first segment and the second segment each has a non-skid layer defined on the inner surface.

[0010] Further benefits and advantages of the present invention will become apparent after a careful reading of the detailed description with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0012] FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the protective and supporting cover of FIG. 1 in a unfolded state;

[0013] FIG. 3-4 illustrate that the protective and supporting cover is folded to a stand position;

[0014] FIG. 5 is a perspective view of the protective and supporting cover of FIG. 4 with another angle stand position by the flipped holder;

[0015] FIG. 6 illustrates that a tablet is positioned upright in one side of the foldable cover of the protective and supporting cover of FIG. 4;

[0016] FIG. 7-9 illustrate that the tablet could be turned to positioned in the other side of the foldable cover shown in FIG. 6;

[0017] FIG. 10 is a perspective view of the protective and supporting cover with a pen holder on the protective cover;

[0018] FIG. 11 illustrates the first segment and the second segment of the foldable cover define a non-skid layer thereon.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS

[0019] As shown in FIGS. 1-4, the protective and supportive cover 1 is used for a tablet 4 comprises a foldable cover 3 having a first segment 32 and a second segment 31 connected to the first segment 32; a plurality of positioning members (includes a snap-fit connector 311 and a barrier 321, and the details of both will be described below) defined on inner side edges of the foldable cover 3 for gripping the tablet 4; and a protective cover 2 connected to the first segment 32 and opposite to the second segment 31, the protective cover 2 having a plurality of flipped holders 21 on an outer side thereof.

[0020] In operation, referring to FIGS. 1-3, the a protective and supportive cover 1 is unfolded at first, wherein the protective cover 2 and the foldable cover 3 are arranged in a horizontal state, as shown in FIG. 2; and then, the foldable cover 3 is turned relative to the protective cover 2; finally, the first segment 32 is folded relative to the second segment 31 and supported by protective cover 2 to formed triangular structure. Accordingly, the tablet 4 is adapted to be placed upright on the second segment 31 and to be gripped by the positioning members, as shown in FIG. 6, wherein the tablet 4 is adapted to be faced toward user who operates the tablet 4. In order to turn the tablet 4 facing to whom sitting opposite to the user, the tablet 4 is detached from the positioning members, and rotated to the opposite side over the protective and supportive cover 1, and then the tablet 4 could be placed upright at the first segment 32. Referring to FIG. 9, one side of the tablet 4 is secured by the barrier 321.

[0021] Under this arrangement, the protective and supporting cover 1 of the present invention provides two directions for the users to place the tablet 4 at front side or backward side of the user depending on their needs (For instance, in order to face the touch panel of the tablet 4 from the operator to whom sits opposite on business situation). As the described above, the protective and supporting cover 1 of the present invention is different from the conventional cover which needs to turn both the cover and the tablet to whom sit opposite of the user, and while turning, the cover and the tablet 4 was restricted to the articles in the environment. Hence, the tablet 4 can be selectively placed on the first segment 32 or second segment 31 of the foldable cover 3, and positioned by the positioning members.

[0022] Referring to FIGS. 4-5, the flipped holders 21 are disposed on the outer side of the protective cover 2 so that the second segment 31 could be positioned in a selected one of the flipped holders 21 with a certain angle. Therefore, the user has various angular choices to position the tablet 4 while using it. Moreover, each of the flipped holders 21 has a magnetic element 22 defined therein, and the second segment 31 has an magnetic-activated element 23 therein for magnetically binding to the magnetic element 22 of the respective flipped holder 21 so as to increase the strength function of positioning and supporting the tablet 4. Besides, each of the flipped holder 21 has a label 24 on a surface thereof, as shown in FIG. 10.

[0023] Referring to FIG. 2, two snap-fit connectors 311 are respectively disposed at two corners of the second segment 31, and at least one gripping barrier 321 is disposed on an edge of the first segment 32 adjacent to the protective cover 2. Besides, the two snap-fit connectors 311 are arc-shaped, and the gripping barrier 321 is shaped as a long strap hook-like structure.

[0024] Referring to FIG. 10, the protective cover 2 has a pen holder 25 for retaining the writing instrument. Specifically, the first segment 32 and the second segment 31 each has a non-skid layer 5 defined on the inner surface thereof for positioning the tablet 4 on the on-skid layer 5 stability.

[0025] It is to be understood that the disclosed embodiments are illustrative in nature and the invention is not to be limited to any one or more embodiments except as set forth in the following claims.
