(Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) sensor. As the advanced
semiconductor manufacturing technologies have allowed the pixel
size of sensors to be reduced and compact optical systems have
gradually evolved toward the field of higher megapixels, there is
an increasing demand for compact optical systems featuring better
image quality.
[0006] A conventional optical system employed in a portable
electronic product mainly adopts a five-element lens structure. Due

the conventional optical systems cannot satisfy these requirements
of the compact optical systems.
[0007] Other conventional compact optical systems with six-element
lens structure enhance image quality and resolution. However, the
surface shape and refractive power of the lens elements are not
favorable for reducing the sensitivity of the optical systems which
might thereby result in worse image quality.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0034] An image capturing lens assembly includes, in order from an
object side to an image side, a first lens element, a second lens
element, a third lens element, a fourth lens element, a fifth lens
element, and a sixth lens element. The image capturing lens
assembly has a total of six lens elements with refractive
power.
[0035] The first lens element has positive refractive power, so
that it provides the image capturing lens assembly with the
positive refractive power as it needs to be. The first lens element
has an object-side surface being convex in a paraxial region
thereof, so that it is favorable for further enhancing the
arrangement of the positive refractive power so as to reduce the
total track length of the image capturing lens assembly.
[0036] The second lens element can have negative refractive power.
Therefore, it is favorable for correcting the aberration of the
first lens element with positive refractive power. Moreover, the
second lens element can have an object-side surface being convex in
a paraxial region thereof and an image-side surface being concave
in a paraxial region thereof. Therefore, it is favorable for
correcting the astigmatism of the image capturing lens
assembly.
[0037] The third lens element can have positive refractive power.
Therefore, it is favorable for balancing the arrangement of the
positive refractive powers so as to reduce the sensitivity of the
image capturing lens assembly.
[0038] The fourth lens element with refractive power has an
object-side surface being concave in a paraxial region thereof.
Therefore, it is favorable for correcting astigmatism.
[0039] The fifth lens element can have negative refractive power
and has an object-side surface being convex in a paraxial region
thereof and an image-side surface being concave in a paraxial
region thereof, wherein the image-side surface of the fifth lens
element has at least one convex shape in an off-axis region
thereof. Therefore, it is favorable for further correcting the
astigmatism and reducing the incident angle of the light projecting
onto an image sensor so as to improve the responding efficiency of
the image sensor.
[0040] The sixth lens element can have negative refractive power,
an object-side surface being convex in a paraxial region thereof
and an image-side surface being concave in a paraxial region
thereof, wherein the image-side surface of the sixth lens element
has at least one convex shape in an off-axis region thereof.
Therefore, it is favorable for the principal point being positioned
away from the image plane so as to reduce the total track length
and effectively correct the aberration of the off-axis.
[0041] When a focal length of the third lens element is f3, and a
focal length of the fourth lens element is f4, the following
condition is satisfied: |f3/f4|<0.50. Therefore, it is favorable
for reducing the sensitivity of the image capturing lens assembly
so as to obtain better image quality.
[0042] When an axial distance between the third lens element and
the fourth lens element is T34, and a central thickness of the
fourth lens element is CT4, the following condition is satisfied:
0.9<T34/CT4. Therefore, it is favorable for assembling the image
capturing lens assembly and maintaining a proper total track length
thereof. In some embodiments, the following condition is satisfied:
1.25<T34/CT4<2.75.
[0043] When a central thickness of the fifth lens element is CT5,
and a central thickness of the sixth lens element is CT6, the
following condition is satisfied: 1.6<CT6/CT5. Therefore, it is
favorable for avoiding the lens elements with an excessively thin
thickness or an excessively thick thickness which are easily
crackled or deformed during the manufacturing processes. In some
embodiments, the following condition is satisfied:
2.0<CT6/CT5<4.0.
[0044] When a focal length of the fifth lens element is f5, and a
focal length of the sixth lens element is f6, the following
condition is satisfied: -0.65<f6/|f5|<0. Therefore, it is
favorable for balancing the refractive powers of the fifth lens
element and the sixth lens element so as to reduce the back focal
length of the image capturing lens assembly. In some embodiments,
the following condition is satisfied: -0.50<f6/|f5|<0.
[0045] When a curvature radius of the object-side surface of the
sixth lens element is R11, and a curvature radius of the image-side
surface of the sixth lens element is R12, the following condition
is satisfied: 0<(R11+R12)/(R11-R12). Therefore, it is favorable
for further correcting the astigmatism and reducing the back focal
length thereof.
[0046] When a focal length of the image capturing lens assembly is
f, the focal length of the third lens element is f3, the focal
length of the fourth lens element is f4, and the focal length of
the fifth lens element is f5, the following condition is satisfied:
0.20<|f/f3|+|f/f4|+|f/f5|<1.35. Therefore, it is favorable
for balancing the arrangement of the refractive powers so as to
keep a compact size. In some embodiments, the following condition
is satisfied: 0.20<|f/f3|+|f/f4|+|f/f5|<1.0.
[0047] When an Abbe number of the first lens element is V1, an Abbe
number of the second lens element is V2, and an Abbe number of the
fourth lens element is V4, the following condition is satisfied:
0.6<(V2+V4)/V1<1.2. Therefore, it is favorable for
effectively correcting the chromatic aberration of the image
capturing lens assembly.
[0048] When a curvature radius of the object-side surface of the
third lens element is R5, and a curvature radius of the image-side
surface of the third lens element is R6, the following condition is
satisfied: R5/|R6|<1.0. Therefore, it is favorable for
correcting the astigmatism and spherical aberration of the image
capturing lens assembly.
[0049] When the focal length of the image capturing lens assembly
is f, the central thickness of the fourth lens element is CT4, the
central thickness of the fifth lens element is CT5, and an axial
distance between the fourth lens element and the fifth lens element
is T45, the following condition is satisfied:
5.ltoreq.f/(CT4+T45+CT5)<10. Therefore, it is favorable for
avoiding the lens elements which are easily crackled or deformed
during the manufacturing processes and maintaining a compact
size.
[0050] According to the image capturing lens assembly of the
present disclosure, the lens elements thereof can be made of glass
or plastic material. When the lens elements are made of glass
material, the distribution of the refractive power of the image
capturing lens assembly may be more flexible to design. When the
lens elements are made of plastic material, the manufacturing cost
can be effectively reduced. Furthermore, surfaces of each lens
element can be arranged to be aspheric, since the aspheric surface
of the lens element is easy to form a shape other than spherical
surface so as to have more controllable variables for eliminating
the aberration thereof, and to further decrease the required number
of the lens elements. Therefore, the total track length of the
image capturing lens assembly can also be reduced.
[0051] According to the image capturing lens assembly of the
present disclosure, each of an object-side surface and an
image-side surface has a paraxial region and an off-axis region.
The paraxial region refers to the region of the surface where light
rays travel close to the optical axis, and the off-axis region
refers to the region of the surface where light rays travel away
from the optical axis. Particularly, when the lens element has a
convex surface, it indicates that the surface is convex in the
paraxial region thereof; when the lens element has a concave
surface, it indicates that the surface is concave in the paraxial
region thereof.
[0052] According to the image capturing lens assembly of the
present disclosure, the image capturing lens assembly can include
at least one stop, such as an aperture stop, a glare stop or a
field stop. Said glare stop or said field stop is for eliminating
the stray light and thereby improving the image resolution
thereof.
[0053] According to the image capturing lens assembly of the
present disclosure, an aperture stop can be configured as a front
stop or a middle stop. A front stop disposed between an imaged
object and the first lens element can provide a longer distance
between an exit pupil of the image capturing lens assembly and the
image plane and thereby improves the image-sensing efficiency of an
image sensor. A middle stop disposed between the first lens element
and the image plane is favorable for enlarging the field of view of
the image capturing lens assembly and thereby provides a wider
field of view for the same.
[0054] The present image capturing lens assembly can be optionally
applied to moving focus optical systems. According to the image
capturing lens assembly of the present disclosure, the image
capturing lens assembly is featured with good correction ability
and high image quality, and can be applied to 3D
(three-dimensional) image capturing applications, in products such
as digital cameras, mobile devices, digital tablets, wearable
devices and other mobile terminals.
[0055] According to the present disclosure, an image capturing
device is provided. The image capturing device includes the image
capturing lens assembly according to the aforementioned image
capturing lens assembly of the present disclosure, and an image
sensor, wherein the image sensor is disposed on an image plane of
the aforementioned image capturing lens assembly. In some
embodiments, the image capturing device can further include a
barrel member, a holding member or a combination thereof.
[0056] In FIG. 17, FIG. 18 and FIG. 19, an imaging device 10 may be
