BEST MODE

[0038] Embodiments of the present invention will now be described in more detail.

[0039] False Eyelash Structure

[0040] A false eyelash structure of the present invention includes an artificial hair part and an attachment part, and the artificial hair part and the attachment part are integrally formed by injection molding and have excellent shape stability and elasticity.

[0041] The artificial hair part is formed on one surface of the attachment part, and has 3 to 100 artificial hairs. The artificial hairs may have a length from 0.1 mm to 50 mm, preferably from 2 mm to 25 mm. The artificial hairs may have a thickness from 0.05 mm to 2 mm, preferably from 0.2 mm to 0.9 mm. The artificial hair part may be a combination of artificial hairs having one or more properties or shapes. By way of example, the artificial hairs may be linear or curved, and a plurality of adjacent artificial hairs may cross each other or may be disposed in zigzag arrangement. The artificial hairs may have a polygonal cross-section, such as a triangular cross-section, a rectangular cross-section, and a pentagonal cross-section, and may have a circular or elliptical cross-section, without being limited thereto. When the artificial hairs have a polygonal cross-section, the artificial hairs may have a rounded corner. The artificial hairs may have a cross-sectional area of from 0.002 mm.sup.2 to 5 mm.sup.5, preferably from 0.03 mm.sup.2 to 0.8 mm.sup.2.

[0042] FIG. 2 is a plan view of a false eyelash structure according to one embodiment. Referring to FIG. 2, an attachment 20 is provided to attach artificial eyelashes to the skin of a person, and may be linear as shown in FIG. 2 (a) or may be curved as shown in FIG. 2 (b). The attachment part has a length of 20 mm to 50 mm, preferably 30 mm to 40 mm. The attachment part may have a thickness of 0.05 mm to 2 mm, preferably 0.2 mm to 0.9 mm.

[0043] Referring to FIGS. 3 (a) and (b), when the attachment part is curved, the attachment part may have a first curved portion 21 and second curved portions 23 or linear portions 25 extending from opposite ends of the first curved portion.

[0044] When the attachment part has a first curved portion and second curved portions as shown in FIG. 3 (a), the first curved portion 21 and each of the second curved portions 23 may have different curvatures and curvature directions.

[0045] The artificial hair part and the attachment part may be thermally processed, and may be formed by injection molding using a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) resin having a flexible and resilient property similar to rubber or resin compositions containing the thermoplastic elastomer resin.

[0046] The thermoplastic elastomer resin may be an olefin, styrene, amide, ester, urethane, silicone, or PVC-based thermoplastic elastomer resin. Preferably, the thermoplastic elastomer resin is a styrene or olefin-based thermoplastic elastomer resin.

[0047] The styrene-based thermoplastic elastomer resin is an elastic material most similar to rubber and has a two-phase structure including a soft segment endowing elasticity and a hard segment endowing strength. Examples of the styrene thermoplastic elastomer resin include poly(styrene-b-butadiene-b-styrene) (SBS), poly(styrene-b-isoprene-b-styrene) (SIS), poly(styrene-b-ethylene-b-butadiene-b-styrene) (SEBS), and poly(styrene-b-ethylene-b-propylene-b-styrene) (SEPS).

[0048] The olefin-based thermoplastic elastomer resin may be an ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), which includes a soft segment and a hard segment of polypropylene. The soft segment shows unique rubber elasticity of the thermoplastic elastomer. During molding, the hard segment is melted and plasticized to exhibit unique molding properties, and then is cured again to prevent plastic deformation.

[0049] In one embodiment, the thermoplastic elastomer resin has a glass transition temperature Tg of 80.degree. C. or less to increase flexibility of products. More preferably, the thermoplastic elastomer resin has a glass transition temperature Tg of 50.degree. C. to 60.degree. C.

[0050] The artificial hair part and the attachment part may further include additives, such as pigments, fillers, heat stabilizers, and the like.

[0051] In a post-process after injection molding, the false eyelash structure may be subjected to surface treatment using a coating agent and a finishing agent, such as glittering additives for glittering effects.

[0052] In one embodiment of the invention, when injection molding is performed by a single stage, the artificial hair part and the attachment part are integrally formed with each other. Thus, the artificial hair part and the attachment part may include the same thermoplastic elastomer resin.

[0053] In another embodiment of the invention, when injection molding is performed by multiple stages, the attachment part may be formed of the same kind of thermoplastic elastomer resin as that of artificial hairs of one type constituting the artificial hair part. In other words, multistage injection molding is composed of primary injection molding and secondary injection molding. When the thermoplastic elastomer resin used in primary injection molding is different from the thermoplastic elastomer resin used in secondary injection molding, some of the artificial hairs constituting the artificial hair part can be formed of the thermoplastic elastomer resin different from that of the attachment part.

[0054] During multistage injection molding, the thermoplastic elastomer resins used in the respective injection molding stages may use pigment to have different colors. Accordingly, the artificial hair part may include a plurality of artificial hairs having different colors, and artificial eyelashes showing various colors can be provided. Moreover, properties of the attachment part and the artificial hair part or two types of artificial hairs constituting the artificial hair part may be partially adjusted by applying two or more thermoplastic elastomer resins having different properties. For example, in multistage injection molding using thermoplastic elastomer resins having different softness, the attachment part may be formed of a flexible soft elastomer and the artificial hairs may be formed of a relatively strong elastomer, thereby providing a product that can be conveniently worn and has firm artificial hairs.

[0055] As shown in FIG. 4, in another embodiment of the invention, a convex-concave pattern 30 is formed on at least one of the one surface and an opposite surface of the attachment part. When the false eyelash structure is attached to skin around the eye, the convex-concave pattern 30 imparts flexibility to the attachment part and increases a bonding area, whereby the false eyelash structure can be easily and naturally attached to a skin surface. As shown in FIG. 4 (d), the convex-concave pattern may include a concave portion or a convex portion having a rectangular, triangular, or circular shape.

[0056] Method of Manufacturing False Eyelash Structure

[0057] In one embodiment of the invention, the method of manufacturing a false eyelash structure includes preparing a mold; preparing a thermoplastic elastomer resin; and performing injection molding by introducing the thermoplastic elastomer resin into an injection molding machine on which the mold is mounted.

[0058] In FIG. 1, (a) to (e) show molds used in the method of manufacturing a false eyelash structure according to the embodiment of the present invention. Referring to FIG. 1, (a) and (b) show molds forming artificial hair parts 11, 13, and (c) shows a mold in which a first artificial hair part 11 and a second artificial hair part 13 are combined. A false eyelash structure including the first artificial hair part 11 and the second artificial hair part 13 having different colors or properties may be manufactured using a dual-injection molding machine. The false eyelash structure may be manufactured through a single process using a property. In FIG. 1, the mold is a mold according to one embodiment of the invention, but the present invention is not limited thereto. The mold may be manufactured in various forms by reflecting desired designs of artificial eyelashes, that is, shapes of the attachment part 20 and the artificial hair part 10.

[0061] In injection molding, mold pressure may range from 5 MPa to 40 MPa, back pressure may range from 20 MPa to 80 MPa, and injection pressure may range from 30 MPa to 100 MPa.

[0062] The injection molding machine may have a screw RPM of 30 RPM to 100 RPm, and an injection time may range from 0.5 seconds to 20 seconds.

[0063] According to another embodiment of the invention, the manufacturing method corresponds to multistage injection molding using at least one mold and at least one thermoplastic elastomer resin.

[0064] In the case of a manufacturing method including a two-stage injection molding process, the method may include: preparing a first mold; preparing a first thermoplastic elastomer resin; performing primary injection molding by introducing the first thermoplastic elastomer resin into an injection molding machine on which the first mold is mounted; providing a false eyelash structure manufactured by the primary injection molding to a second mold; and performing secondary injection molding by introducing a second thermoplastic elastomer resin into an injection molding machine on which the second mold is mounted. Referring to FIG. 1, by way of example, after an artificial eyelash structure is prepared through primary injection molding in a first mold of FIG. 1 (a), the manufactured artificial eyelash structure may be provided to a second mold of FIG. 1 (b) and may be subjected to secondary injection molding, thereby providing a finished artificial eyelash structure.

[0065] In another embodiment of the invention, a false eyelash structure may be manufactured using a two-stage injection molding machine or a multistage injection molding machine while using a single mold in multistage injection molding. In one example, after the mold of FIG. 1 (c) is mounted on an injection molding machine having a double nozzle, a false eyelash structure may be manufactured by applying two types of thermoplastic elastomer resins.
