Abstract

The present invention relates to baby products it is named The Baby Wedge it is a developmental baby product that is made in a wedge shape out of a firm foam embodiment that is on an incline so that to aid a baby in lifting himself or herself up to build their upper and lower body muscles. The wedge also has a plurality of developmental toys on it. There are different shapes and fabric textures on the wedge, a bell and a mirror.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] There are a wide variety of baby products on the market, for instance resilient cushions have been developed which account for the special support needs of infants. One such cushion is disclosed under U.S. Pat. No. 5,261,134 to Matthews and is marketed under the name "BOPPY".TM. and also another U.S. Pat. No. 5,546,620; also to Matthews with the same cushion or pillow just with the addition of a mat. These types of cushions do not really give the baby a lot of firm support. There are also wedge shaped pillows on the market that are used for support and alignment for all ages. There are also a variety of products that include one or more toys for baby's development. Notwithstanding the large number of existing baby products there remains a need for a foam wedge support use for belly time for the baby, which includes developmental toys. As compared to the polyfill which does not give the baby enough support like the firm foam would. That's why it would make a great new cutting edge product.

[0002] It is a crucial part of the babies development to strengthen the babies upper and lower body muscles The wedge not only gives support, as the embodiment is designed in a wedge shape, which is on an incline to aid baby in lifting their body up to build their muscles. Most important the device should include a plurality of developmental toys. The toys would stimulate babies tactile sense of touch, includes sensory input from both reaching out into the environment to touch things, like different textures which sends signals to the brain which causes formation of neuronal connections. The neuronal connections that help stimulate the brains growth, and sight of a childs healthy growth development, indeed in providing both eye/hand coordination and sound and auditory processing.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0011] The present invention is generally related to baby products, it is a wedge shaped embodiment used for babies belly time. The wedge is made of a firm foam it is on an incline to aid baby in helping the baby to lean up and develop the upper and lower body muscles. The baby wedge is covered in a cotton fabric or any fabric that would be suitable for baby and it has at least three different fabric textures, which are but not limited to satin, terrycloth or fleece and a crinkly sounding material that is sewn into the fabric so baby can touch the different textures. The baby wedge also has a bell that is attached to the front of the wedge which is removable with Velcro and can be replaced with a pacifier, or baby's favorite toy. The wedge also has a removable mirror which is encased in soft foam or any other material to make a cushion to protect baby. There is a safety strap with a harness to hold baby, made of fabric attached with Velcro or snaps or any other suitable material to secure it. The cover can be removed for easy washing with either Velcro or a zipper. The baby wedge is used for a baby to be put into a prone position and lean up from the incline and to play with all the different textures, shapes and developmental toys.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

One embodiment of the structure of The Baby Wedge is FIG. 1, illustration 10. A wedge shaped foam that is firm, high in density, and measures 27'' length, 14'' width by 8'' height. Claims

1. What is claimed is :The Baby Wedge is a wedge shaped foam cushion embodiment with a plurality of developmental toys, the wedge is covered in a cotton fabric outer material and attached to the material are at least three different shapes that are made out of fabric materials that have different textures that aid in the infants tactile growth, they are sewn on the front of the wedge to the outer fabric material .A mirror is attached to the front of the wedge fabric outer material covering the embodiment, also there is a bell attached to the front of the wedge. The wedge cover is removable for easy washing.

2. The baby wedge as claimed in claim 1, the outer cover can be made in a variety of fabric materials, colors and patterns could be and not limited to organic fabric materials.

3. The baby wedge as claimed in claim 1, where the wedge embodiment is made of a high density firm foam cushion that is on an incline and could be made of organic but not limited to a organic soy foam

4. The baby wedge as claimed in claim 1, the different shapes can be and not limited to a triangle, a square, a rectangle or a circle, or a car or animal any shape that pertains to the outer fabric material or theme.

5. The baby wedge as claimed in claim 1, where the different fabric texture materials can be; but not limited to satin, fleece, terry, ribbed and a crinkly sounding material that is of plastic packaging or the alike to create a sound to attract the baby.

6. The baby wedge as claimed in claim 1, where the mirror is inserted into a fabric material that could be but not limited satin, fleece, terry or any other suitable fabric material that is sewn on the front of the wedge outer fabric material.

7. The baby wedge as claimed in claim 1, the outer cover is removable from Velcro 2 attaching two pieces of material together or from a zipper, snaps or similar means of attaching it to the back of the wedge.

8. The baby wedge as claimed in claim 1, the fabric around the mirror is cushioned with a foam or any material that would produce a padding to protect baby.

9. The baby wedge as claimed in claim 1, where the bell is covered in a fabric material of but not limited to satin, fleece, terry or the alike.

10. The baby wedge as claimed in claim 1 where Velcro tabs or the alike are sewn on each end of the bell to produce an opening.

11. The baby wedge as claimed in claim 1, where the bell may be fastened by Velcro tabs, snaps or other suitable fasteners to provide the desired detachable interconnection.

12. The baby wedge as claimed in claim 1, where the bell is attached to the front of the wedge to a piece of fabric that is sewn in a circular shape, than sewn, to the front of the wedge, for the bell to be attached through the said circular fabric.

13. What is claimed is the baby wedge is a developmental activity product, is on an incline so baby can be positioned in a prone position so said baby can get a lift up to discover the developmental toys and different textures of the fabrics. The wedge is developing not only the senses of the baby but also the upper and lower body muscles. The baby wedge is used for belly time for the baby. There is also a safety strap that attaches through a harness seat that comes across the baby torso and the baby is protected in the harness seat.

14. The baby wedge as claimed in claim 13, the safety strap and harness can be made of cotton material or any similar material.

15. The baby wedge as claimed in claim 13, dimensions are approximately 27'' length by 14'' width and a height of 8'' to the shortest point at the wedge is 1''.

16. The baby wedge as claimed in claim 13 the baby can get the firm support of the foam to get up on his upper arms to enjoy the developmental toys also to see their self in the mirror.

17. The baby wedge is used for infants all the way up to one year depending on the baby size.
