Description
TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention generally relates to a protection
cover with upright positionability, and more particularly to a
protection cover that comprises a first board and a second board,
in which the first board forms a fold line that divides the first
board into a stationary zone and a folding zone to provide the
first board with foldability, whereby when an electronic device is
positioned in a substantially upright manner, the folding zone of
the first board is folded toward a back side of the electronic
device to have the folding zone serving as a support to the
electronic device that is positioned in an upright condition and
also, the inclination angle of the upright positioned electronic
device is adjusted through adjusting the folding angle of the
folding zone.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART
[0002] With the development of electronic and network technology
getting mature, tablet computers (such as iPad) are now widely
used. To be easily carried by the general consumers, the tablet
computers are made light-weighted and compact and being made so,
the tablet computers need improved protection for sophisticated
internal electronics, enclosures, and touch screens thereof. Due to
such a need, protection products for tablet computers are now
available in the market for the purposes of improving shock
resistance of the tablet computers and protecting the outside
appearance of the tablet computers from being damaged.
[0003] The conventional protection products for tablet computers,
such as protective leather sheaths, are generally made by shaping a
protective material (such as leather, shock-absorbing foam, and
other similar materials) as a receiving sack so that a user may
place a tablet computer in such as protective leather sheath. The
tablet computer, when being carried, is completely enclosed by the
protective leather sheath and the shock resistance of the tablet
computer is improved. Furthermore, this also helps isolating the
tablet computer from underside contact and rubbing with external
objects and thus protecting the outside appearance of the tablet
computer from being damaged or scratched.
[0004] The conventional protective leather sheath may receive and
completely enclose a tablet computer positioned in the sheath in
order to improve the shock resistance of the tablet computer and
protect the outside appearance of the tablet computer, but when a
protective leather sheath is used to protect a tablet computer, a
user may need to repeatedly put the tablet computer into the sheath
and remove the tablet computer out of the sheath, this being
generally inconvenient for the user. Further, once the tablet
computer is removed out of the sheath, the sheath is separated from
the tablet computer and may thus be easily lost or left behind.
Further, a prevailing function of the tablet computer is to play
multimedia video/audio programs (such as music, images, movies, and
other video/audio information). The conventional protective leather
sheath does not provide any means for supporting a tablet computer
in a substantially erected condition and consequently, a user may
need to hold the tablet computer with hands for a long time. This
certainly leads to undesired stress and aching and stiffness of
hands and other portions of the user's body.
[0005] The preset invention is made to overcome the drawbacks that
the known tablet computer protective sheath is inconvenient in use,
may easily get lost and left behind, and is incapable of supporting
a tablet computer in a substantially erected condition.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0006] In view of the above discussed problems, the primary
objective of the present invention is to provide a protection cover
with upright positionability, which is particularly applicable to
an electronic device. The protection cover comprises a first board
and a second board. The first board has a quadrilateral shape for
mounting to a back side of an electronic device of a similar shape.
The first board forms a fold line and is divided by the fold line
into a stationary zone and a folding zone. The stationary zone is
provided with first and second coupling sections that engage edges
of the electronic device in order to fixedly attach the stationary
zone to the electronic device. The folding zone is provided with
ancillary coupling sections that engage edges of the electronic
device in order to have the folding zone and the ancillary coupling
sections removably attached to the electronic device. The second
board is connected to one edge of the folding zone of the first
board. As such, the first board is mounted to the back side of the
electronic device and when the second board is located at a front
side of the first board, the second board covers a surface of the
electronic device so as to completely enclose the electronic device
and to allow of operations of the electronic device by turning over
the second board. Further, to position the electronic device in a
substantially upright condition, the folding zone of the first
board is separated from the electronic device and folded toward the
back side of the electronic device so that the folding zone may
serve as a support to the electronic device positioned in the
substantially erected condition, thereby achieving the purposes of
positioning the electronic device in an upright manner. Further,
adjusting the folding angle of the folding zone allows of adjusting
inclination of the electronic device in a substantially upright
condition.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0014] The following descriptions are exemplary embodiments only,
and are not intended to limit the scope, applicability or
configuration of the invention in any way. Rather, the following
description provides a convenient illustration for implementing
exemplary embodiments of the invention. Various changes to the
described embodiments may be made in the function and arrangement
of the elements described without departing from the scope of the
invention as set forth in the appended claims.
[0015] Referring to FIGS. 1-5, the present invention provides a
protection cover with upright positionability, which is
particularly applicable to an electronic device 3. The protection
cover comprises: a first board 1 and a second board 2.
[0016] The first board 1 is mountable to a back side of the
electronic device 3. The first board 1 is, preferably, of a
quadrilateral shape to allow the first board 1 to be attached to
the back side of the electronic device 3 of such a shape or a
similar shape. The first board 1 forms in a body thereof a fold
line 11 and is thus divided by the fold line 11 into a stationary
zone 12 and a folding zone 13. The first board 1 is provided with
first coupling sections 14 respectively located at two ends
(corners) of the stationary zone 12 and second coupling sections 15
respectively located at two side edges of the stationary zone 12.
Further, the first board 1 is provided with at least two ancillary
coupling sections 16 that are respectively located in the folding
zone 13.
[0017] The second board 2 is connected to one side edge of the
folding zone of the first board 1 in such a way that the side edge
of the first board 1 to which the second board 2 is connected is
substantially parallel to the fold line 11 so that the second board
2 is rotatable to be located on a front side or a back side of the
first board 1. Or alternatively, the second board 2 is closed to be
opposite to the first board 1 to show a sandwiching configuration
and the second board 2 is provided with a clip fastener 21 that is
located distant from the side edge of the firs board 1 to which the
second board 2 is connected.
[0018] The first coupling sections 14 and the second coupling
sections 15 that are provided on the stationary zone 12 of the
first board 1 are respectively engageable with edges of the
electronic device 3 in order to have the stationary zone 12 and the
first and second coupling sections 15, 16 fixedly attached to the
electronic device 3. Further, the ancillary coupling sections 16
formed on the folding zone 13 of the first board 1 may then be set
in engagement with edges of the electronic device 3 in such a way
that the folding zone 13 and the ancillary coupling sections 16 are
removably attached to the electronic device 3 (see FIG. 4).
[0019] When the first board 1 is mounted to the back side of the
electronic device 3, the second board 2 is positioned on the front
side of the first board 1 so as to cover the surface of the
electronic device 3. By having the clip fastener 21 of the second
board 2 set in clipping engagement with an edge of the electronic
device 3, the first and second boards 1, 2 may sandwich and clamp
the electronic device 3 therebetween in such a way that the
electronic device 3 is completely enclosed in order to improve
shock resistance of the electronic device 3 and protect outside
appearance of the electronic device 3 from being damaged or
scratched. Further, to use, the second board 2 is turned over and
the electronic device 3 is exposed for operation thereby ensuring
convenience of operation and use. Further, the connection formed
between the first board 1 and the second board 2 makes it possible
to prevent the first board 1 and the second board 2 from separating
from each other and thereby helping preventing the second board 2
from getting lost or left behind
[0020] Further, when it is attempted to position the electronic
device 3 in a substantially upright manner, the first board 1 is
folded along the fold line 11 to have the folding zone 13 of the
first board 1 folded in a direction toward the back side of the
electronic device 3 and the folding zone 13 is separated from the
electronic device 3. As such, the folding zone 13 of the first
board 1 may serve as a support to the upright positioned electronic
device 3 (see FIG. 5). Under this condition, the edge of the
electronic device 3 that is separated from the first board 1 is
positionable on the second board 2. By adjusting the folding angle
of the folding zone 13, the inclination of the electronic device 3,
when positioned in a substantially upright condition, can be
adjusted thereby realizing the purpose of positioning the
electronic device 3 in a substantially upright manner.
[0021] In summary, the features of the present invention are that a
first board 1 and a second board 2 are connected to each other and
the first board 1 is provided with a fold line 11 and is thus
divided into a stationary zone 12 and a folding zone 13 to provide
the first board 1 with foldability. When the electronic device 3 is
positioned upright, the folding zone 13 of the first board 1 is
folded toward the back side of the electronic device 3 so that the
folding zone 13 may serve as a support to the electronic device 3
positioned in an upright condition thereby achieving the purposes
of positioning the electronic device 3 in an upright condition.
[0022] It will be understood that each of the elements described
above, or two or more together may also find a useful application
in other types of methods differing from the type described
above.
[0023] While certain novel features of this invention have been
shown and described and are pointed out in the annexed claim, it is
not intended to be limited to the details above, since it will be
understood that various omissions, modifications, substitutions and
changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in
its operation can be made by those skilled in the art without
departing in any way from the spirit of the present invention.
