Abstract

The invention delivers a comfortable effective exercise apparatus. Designed to engage sculpt and isolate upper/lower abdominal muscles the devise operates as such; user adjust length of forward/ rear T(respectively). Seat is adjusted to accommodate user. Next, the cable system is adjusted to body length and resistance is set using spring or rubber couplets. User mounts apparatus feet under foot bar executing a sit-up using cables creating resistance shifting body weight to engage various abdominal muscles.

Claims



1. I claim an exercise apparatus comprising a Free-floating, no-back seat. This apparatus also comprising a cable system for adding resistance to abdominal region, also a separate forward cable and a separate rear cable for isolating the upper and lower abdominals, respectively. By design I claim this seat targets the abdominal region of a user engaging all abdominal muscles, core muscles and the like, enabling and ensuring a concentrated workout of and to the abdominal region of a user; (a) that by constructing the seat with a no-back, angled pole and foot stop a user's integrity of seat is assured the no-back and angled bar ensure the concentric and eccentric contraction of the abdominal muscles as well as core muscles. (b) also that by constructing a separate forward cable and a separate rear cable the isolation of the upper and lower abdominals, respectively, is achieved and the abdominal muscles are strengthened with the resistance capacity of the present invention. A user sits on the seat, reaches for the cable (forward and rear) and makes necessary adjustments to apparatus (height of seat and length of I beam rather forward and rear T's joined). After the adjustments, a user, to engage the upper portion of abdominal muscles utilizes the forward cable-sets resistance and performs sit-ups on the apparatus likewise to engage the lower abdominal muscles the rear cables are utilized in exercise.

2. I claim an exercise utility apparatus by construction and design specifically Intentionally targeting, engage, condition and sculpt the abdominal muscles of a user. The free-floating seat command the engagement of all abdominal muscle, the entire muscle group(s) is engage and is targeted and can be further targeted by use of forward and/or rear cables and also by a sift in weight and/or position on the seat. The motion of hip flexion is the articulation resulting from sit-ups and the abdominal muscle group as well as the muscle groups of the hip and upper leg or thigh is the muscles involved and effected during use of Abs Device.

FIELD OF INVENTION

[0001] The present field of invention concerns the Abs Device for use in physical training, more particularly the conditioning, strengthening and sculpting of the abdominal region of the human body. This device provides a method of exercising the abdominal muscles as well as methods to assist the exerciser in all abdominal strengthening exercising and positioning by the use of an adjustable platform, and an adjustable seat and cables. The cables on this devise are also adjustable and will have a method of increasing tension so as to provide various resistances for optimal exercise conditioning.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The abdominal area of the human body is a difficult region to sculpt and condition. This devise will target the conditioning, sculpting and strengthening of this region of the human body. All embodiments of this devise will aid the exerciser in targeting specific abdominal muscles and areas and train them to respond to various exercising potions.

[0003] These various exercising positions will be achieved by use of an adjustable platform, an adjustable seat platform and adjustable cable system with the capacity of increasing or decreasing resistance; by use of but not limited to springs and/or rubber couplets.

[0004] The device will operate as follows: the exerciser will adjust the length of the forward and rear T's according to his or her height and/or length. Then the seat platform will be adjusted to accommodate the user's height and length of arms as well as desired range of motion. Then the cable system of the apparatus is adjusted for arm range of motion. After the user has set the apparatus for his or her body length and height and the cable system is properly set to the desired range of motion then the resistance is set by use of either spring resistance or rubber couplets. When the desired resistance is achieved the user will then position and balance his or her self on the seat platform of the devise, place top or front of ankles under the foot bar so as not to fall off seat and lay back in the beginning position of a sit-up while reaching back and grasping either the forward or rear cable system, depending on the targeted abdominal muscles (the forward cables engage the upper abdominal region and the rear cables engage the lower abdominal region.) After the cable system is securely grasped the user will begin to execute the full range of a sit-up while utilizing the cables system to add the resistance to the exercise by rotating the arms forward while continuing the sit-up. The cable system creates the resistance for conditioning, sculpting and strengthening the abdominal region of the user. By simply shifting the weight of user various areas of the abdominal muscles can be engaged for conditioning and sculpting. Some examples of other muscles that are engaged include the internal and external obloquies, the intercostals and the erectus abdominal muscles. It is important to note that this apparatus has two sets of cable systems, a forward set located below the seat for engaging the upper abdominal muscles and rear set of cables located on the rear T of the apparatus for engaging the lower abdominal muscles. The purpose of the two cable systems is to isolate the upper and lower abdominal muscles during the work-out for optimal conditioning, sculpting and strengthening.

[0021] The above mentioned are examples of prior art related to or having some similarities of the present invention. Abdominal devises that are designed to assist the user in the physical training of the abdominal muscles. While these devises are excellent in the exercising of the abdominal muscles, they do not offer the isolation and/or the specific ability to target upper and lower abdominal muscles, respectfully.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0022] The present invention pertains to an exercise apparatus for conditioning, sculpting and strengthening the abdominal muscles of an exerciser's body. This summation is not intended to minimize the Abs Device in any way. Rather it is an attempt to describe the components of the invention and to provide a vivid understanding of workings of the invention.

[0023] The Abs Device is comprised of two T-bars (a forward T and a rear T). These T's are joined to form a platform for the apparatus to produce over all stability and balance of the apparatus. These T-bars are also adjustable for and to the length of a user's torso. There is also a backless seat platform, free floating, if you will; and this component allows for adjustment of the user pertaining to his or her height and, the design of the seat allows for a slight change in body position and balance of the user's body for targeting specific areas of the abdominal muscle region. This seat is located on the forward T and is the main component of the Abs Device because this is the platform where the exercise is performed. There is an adjustable foot bar located beneath the seat to ensure the users integrity on the seat during exercising. And, lastly, but certainly not least is the cable system. The cable system is important because it lends the ability to allow the user to isolate and target purposefully specific areas of the abdominal region. In addition to this the cable system also has a means to produce tension for added resistance thus further adding the element of strengthening the abdominal muscles. The cable system is attached to the apparatus by means of rings located under seat and also along the I beam that the forward and rear T's create when connected. These rings allow for lengthening or shortening the cable system and also a connector means for tension creating device (rubber couplets and/or tension springs). All of the adjustable parts of the device are secured by means of insertion of insurable pins that fit perpendicular to the adjustments of the apparatus.

The foot stop is affixed to the non-moving portion of the seat pole housing. The forward and rear T's are connected with insurable pen also. The tension springs and/or rubber couplets are attached to the apparatus via a series of "rings" these "rings" also allow for the lengthening and shorting of the cable.
