FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates generally to a charm strap.
More particularly, the invention encompasses a snap charm holder
and charm strap. The present invention is also directed to a novel
method of interchangeably securing charms to an inventive charm
strap. The present invention is also directed to a novel securing
means for a charm strap having at least one interchangeable charm.
The present invention is also directed to a novel jewelry strap

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
[0002] Straps of various shapes and sizes have been known and used
for many years for many purposes. The straps that are well known in
the art can be simple or they can be ornate. These straps have been
used to secure an item or as a piece of jewelry, such as, for
example, a wrist, watch, or as an arm band, or a choker.
[0003] Various efforts have been done in the past to improve the
basic design and utility of a strap. Similarly, efforts have been
made to further the art of jewelry integration but they have had
limited success.
[0004] U.S. Pat. No. 7,409,837 (Robert D. Smith), the entire
disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference, discloses
an interchangeable jewelry insert having an extension formed of
elastic material that can frictionally engage a surface of a
receptacle for receiving the insert. The interchangeable jewelry
insert may be detachably attached to any item that can be
configured to have a receptacle for receiving the insert. The
extension of the interchangeable jewelry insert is sized for
convenience of handling and storage. The use of an elastically
deformable extension extending, at two or more points having
sufficient angular separation, from the periphery of the body of an
insert allows for a secure fit within the receptacle, while
maintaining a convenient connection system that can be manipulated
by manual forces of a jewelry wearer.
[0005] U.S. Pat. No. 7,819,721 (Charlotte F. Messier), the entire
disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference, discloses
a decorative accessory for adorning a wearer's person, such as the
arch area of the foot, and can also be interchangeably secured to a
variety of different articles of clothing, accessories, or areas of
the wearer's body. The decorative accessory includes an elongate
strap, adjustment devices for adjustable expansion and contraction,
and attachment devices for securing the decorative accessory to a
variety of locations. The decorative accessory also has a fastening
mechanism for removably attaching a variety of different decorative
components such as charms, rings, and other jewelry to the
decorative accessory.
[0006] U.S. Pat. No. 7,891,117 (Barbie Jo Sack), the entire
disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference, discloses
in a first embodiment a charm chain depending from two sandal
adapted fasteners designed to be fastened on closed cell foam
sandals either at pivots holding a strap onto the sandal or else at
the periphery of the upper of the sandal. The fasteners may be
elastic material in an annular shape such as a ring, a flower, or
any other shape, with an aperture therethrough or similar designs.
In embodiments, the fasteners may be clips adapted to hold between
their jaws the thickness of closed cell foam typically found in
such sandal uppers, this same thickness usually being present on
the strap as well so that the invention clips may attach there as
well if desired. In other embodiments, a single fastener is
suspended at a single location and a charm in turn depends from the
fastener, possibly including a clip.
[0007] U.S. Patent Publication No. 2007/0006614 (Christine Martz),
the entire disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference,
discloses a fragrant decorative jewelry accessory includes an
infusion of fragrantly volatile molecules into the accessory, and
an adhesive on the underside of the accessory intended to removably
attach the accessory. Fragrance may be infused on the accessory by
soaking an absorbent material with the fragrantly volatile
molecules, through a printing technique, through attaching
encapsulated fragrance molecules onto the accessory or through the
attachment of an fragrance layer onto the accessory. The fragrant
decorative accessory can be removably attached to clothing, a bra
strap, a choker or a hair accessory.
[0008] U.S. Patent Publication No. 201010058619 (Stacy Ferrante, et
al.), the entire disclosure of which is incorporated herein by
reference, discloses an invention which comprises a sandal that
includes a base and at least one strap connected to the base. The
strap includes at least one chamber that is at least translucent
and that is preferably transparent. A fluid is located in the
chamber, and a plurality of charms is suspended in the fluid
located in the chamber. The sandal may be constructed as a
thong-type sandal and many different types of charms may be placed
in the chamber. The fluid may optionally be colored and may
optionally have glitter or simulated snow suspended therein. A
removably attachable charm may optionally be attached to the
strap.
[0009] This invention improves on the deficiencies of the prior art
and provides an inventive jewelry strap with interchangeable snaps
and snap charm holders.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0044] The invention encompasses a decorative accessory, which
includes snap-on charms that are secured onto a strap, such as, an
elongated strap. Each snap charm holder can be snapped into place
on the converse snap on the strap. The decorative accessory further
includes a stretchable elongate strap, mechanical closure for
adjustable expansion and contraction, including snap fasteners for
securing and removing a variety of charms or jewels and arranged
snap component units for fastening to the elongated strap. The
snap-strap can further have a non-slip backing to keep it in
place.
[0045] A problem with common straps or decorative bands is they
have no means of staying, where they are placed, whereas this
invention solves the problem with a rubbery, non-slip substance on
the back, preferably from one end to other end. The invention
easily snaps-on securely and stays in place. Charms, pendants,
jewels and ornaments are difficult to attach and remove from
chains, and because of this problem only a limited number are
collected. This charm band makes collecting charms easier to attach
and detach, easy to put on and off, and allows one to decorate an
area which one could never have done before. The pleasant sound of
a snap fastening and the enjoyable sparkle of jewels dangling are
brought together in multitude on one or more than one combined
charm strap unit.
[0046] Typically, snap fasteners are mechanical closures consisting
of a closure unit and attaching unit. Also, a snap is any clasp or
fastener that closes with a click, or a sharp, cracking sound. The
two popular types of snaps that are currently on the market are the
post-style snap, and the prong-style snap. A post-style snap has a
shaft that requires a hole to penetrate the surface. A prong-style
snap has teeth that penetrate through the surface. For best results
one should look for industrial quality snaps that are sure to stay
secure. For the snaps currently in the market the utility spring
snaps have the firmest hold when snapped closed, followed by the
fashion spring snaps, and then the grip snaps.
[0047] FIG. 1, illustrates a front side view of a first embodiment
of a jewelry strap with interchangeable snap and snap charm holder
23, invention. The inventive charm or jewelry strap 23, comprises
of at least one strap or band or charm strap 25, having a first end
10, and a second end 20. At least one engaging member or snap 12,
