DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0034] FIGS. 1-4 show a ball net according to an embodiment of the
invention, and FIG. 5 shows a perspective view of a collecting sack
of a ball net according to another embodiment of the present
invention.
[0035] An aspect of the present invention provides a ball net 100
as shown in FIGS. 1-4.
[0036] An aspect of the present invention provides the ball net
100.
[0037] The ball net 100 includes two poles 10, 20, a top net 30, a
tilting bottom net 40, a decelerating catcher 50, and a collecting
sack 60.
[0038] Each of the two poles 10, 20 are bent with two ends 12, 14,
22, 24 fixed to a floor, wherein the two poles 10, are crossed at a
zenith point forming four side openings between neighboring
portions of the two poles 10, 20, and one of the four side openings
provides a target opening portion configured for hulling a ball 90
therein.
[0039] The top net 30 covers three of the four side openings except
for the target opening portion, which catches the balls 90 flying
in through the target opening portion. The tilting bottom net 40 is
supported by the four ends 12, 14, 22, 24 of the two poles 10, 20
and provided at a low portion of the space surrounded by the zenith
point and the four ends 12, 14, 22, 24 of the two poles 10, 20, and
the tilting bottom net 40 is tilted toward a front of the ball net
100 as indicated by to dashed lines, which guides the balls 90
fallen on the tilting bottom net 40 toward the collecting sack
60.
[0040] The decelerating catcher 50 is provided inside the target
opening for reducing speed of, stopping, and dropping the ball 90
as shown in FIG. 6. In certain embodiments of the invention, the
decelerating catcher 50 is provided deep inside the target opening
portion such that the balls do not bounced back out through the
target opening portion after hitting the decelerating catcher
50.
[0041] The exact location or angle of the decelerating catcher 50
may be adjusted for that purpose.
[0042] The collecting sack 60 is disposed at a front portion of the
tilting bottom net 40 for receiving the ball rolling down on the
tilting bottom net 40 and keeping inside.
[0043] Each of the two poles 10, 20 may comprise a plurality of
pole sections (not shown) that are configured to be assembled into
a long pole and disassembled into separate sections.
[0044] The decelerating catcher 50 may comprise a net or a fabric,
and the net may be fixed to and hung down from two locations of the
two poles 10, 20 so as to be disposed behind the target opening
portion as shown in FIG. 6.
[0045] The decelerating catcher 50 may be integrated with the top
net 30, especially at a portion of one of the four side openings,
which is in the opposite to the target opening portion. Therefore,
the part of the top net 30 at the rear center can be worked as a
place where the balls hit and are decelerated to stop and fall down
on the tilting bottom net 40.
[0046] The top net 30 may be attached to the portions of the two
poles 10, 20 through a plurality of flanges 70, each of which
including a queue-through hole 72.
[0047] The top net 30 may be integrated with the tilting bottom net
40.
[0048] The top net 30 and the tilting bottom net 40 may be
integrated into one net along sewing lines 32 at the border between
the two nets.
[0049] The top net 30 may comprise one or more straps 34, each of
which having a first end attached to one of the sewing lines and a
second end for fixing to the floor for disposing the tilting bottom
net 40 taut.
[0050] The ball net 100 may further comprise: a front bottom
blocking edge portion 80 disposed along a front portion of the
tilting bottom net 40 for stopping balls rolling down the tilting
bottom net 40; and a collecting hole 82 provided in the front
bottom blocking edge portion 80.
[0051] The collecting sack 60 may be fitted to the collecting hole
82, and the tilting bottom net 40 may be tilted such that the balls
rolling down are guided into the collecting sack 60.
[0052] The collecting sack 60 may comprise net.
[0053] The collecting sack 60 may be detachable.
[0054] The collecting sack 60 may be attached around the collecting
hole 82 through a plurality of fastening devices (not shown). The
plurality of fastening devices may comprise a plurality of
loop-and-hook fasteners.
[0055] The collecting sack 60 may be attached around the collecting
hole 82 permanently, for example by sewing or glue. Actually, they
can be integrated with each other.
[0056] The collecting sack 60 may comprise a retrieving folded hole
62 disposed on a top surface of the collecting sack 60 as shown in
FIG. 5. The top surface of the collecting sack 60 is slit, for
example, horizontally to the general direction of the front bottom
blocking edge portion 80 and the portion close to the ball net 100
is extended more below the other portion, such that in a normal
situation the retrieving folded hole 62 is effectively closed by
the overlapped portions and the balls 90 in the collecting sack 60
can be retrieved easily by pushing in a hand, grabbing, and taking
out the balls.
[0057] The ball net 100 may further comprise one or more
pole-holding straps 74 disposed between top portions of the
neighboring poles 10, 20 so as to hold the two poles 10, 20 crossed
at the zenith point in place as shown in FIG. 1.
[0058] In certain embodiments of the invention, the one or more
pole-holding straps 74 may be attached to and disposed between the
flanges 70 in top portions of the neighboring poles 10, 20. In the
illustrated embodiment, the ball net 100 includes two pole-holding
straps 74 in opposing top portions around the zenith point.
[0059] While the invention has been shown and described with
reference to different embodiments thereof, it will be appreciated
by those skilled in the art that variations in form, detail,
compositions and operation may be made without departing from the
spirit and scope of the invention as defined by the accompanying
claims.
