Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] This invention relates to hair wigs in which a cap is used
underneath the wig to aid in preventing hair breakage, thinning
hairlines, and wig cap slippage while providing a comfortable fit
to the wig wearer.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Wig usage has become a popular cosmetic accessory in the
beauty industry. This industry has innovated different types of
wigs which are sold on the market today, such as full wigs, half
wigs, lace wigs, U-shape wigs, and partial wigs. Wigs are worn for
various reasons both by men, women, and children. Such wigs are
worn to frequently change hairstyles, however, wigs are also used
increasingly for anyone of a variety of medical reasons, therefore
resulting in every day usage.
[0003] Wig wearers generally wear a wig cap or wig liner underneath
wigs to keep the wig wearer hair compacted and confined closely to
one's head as well as an aid from keeping the wig from shifting
throughout the day. However wig caps sold on the market today are
made out of cheap stocking like synthetic fibers, such as cotton,
polyester, nylon, or wool which is damaging to the hair. The
stocking like wig cap tears very easily and will not remain its
shape after a good number of uses thus allowing no protection.
Continual uses of these type of wig caps causes hair breakage and
thinning around the perimeter of the human hair line due to the
synthetic fibers rubbing against hair, removing necessary hair
moisture and drying out a wig wearer hair natural oils. In
addition, the wig caps sold on the market today do not provide a
secure fit for all day usage because of the thin-like fibers,
resulting in wig cap slippage underneath a wig wearer's wig. The
wig cap slippage then causes the wig itself to shift.
[0004] There are various techniques that are still being used to
secure a wig to the head of an individual who is wearing a wig. A
reasonable technique is the use of wig clips, which is clipping the
wig to the hair. This technique causes hair tension on the scalp
and/or base of hair leading to baldness or temporary hair loss.
Another technique is the use of double-sided tape adhesive and glue
when applied to the perimeter of the hairline and human skin. This
technique does not allow the wig wearer the ease of removing the
wig daily and nor does it prevent hairline loss.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION
[0005] The Swigcap is a washable and reusable wig cap comprised of
pure silk, a natural fiber, stretchable material which effectively
protects hair from damages of wearing full wigs, half wigs, and/or
lace wigs. Its intended purpose is to aid in the prevention of
thinning and breakage of hair around the human head hairline. It
also provides the purpose of retaining moisture and luster in hair
while providing a secure comfortable fit that does not cause wig
slippage. Because the cap is made out of stretchable silk, the
Swigcap provides long lasting durability and strength unlike other
wig caps sold on the market today, which allows users to use for
many months. Worldwide stylists have recommended the use of silk
head wraps for years. Silk natural fibers have been known to help
keep hair in top condition and have been used for years to keep
hair looking beautiful. Hair naturally glides on silk which allow
it to grow healthier and longer. Silk is also known to be
anti-fungal and hypoallergenic. The Swigcap is a flexible cap
shaped to fit a human head. This cap has two moon shaped sections,
a front and a rear, are affixed together to create a bottom
opening. The bottom opening edges are rolled to create an inner
channel on the inside of the cap to be used as a protective band
measure for the elastic. Soft elastic band is tunneled through the
inner channel and extended through the inner opening and each ends
are secured together. After elastic has been secured to inner
channel, the opening for the elastic channel is secured and closed
off.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION DRAWING
[0006] FIG. 1 is a pictorial view of the front and rear sections of
the swigcap with the inner elastic band mounted on a human
head.
[0007] FIG. 2 is a pictorial view of the front section of the
swigcap with inner elastic band mounted on a human head.
[0008] FIG. 3 is a pictorial inside view of the swigcap front and
rear sections with the inner elastic band.
NUMERAL DESCRIPTIONS

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE CAP EMBODIMENT
[0010] FIG. 1 shows are main pieces of the cap. The cap itself is
comprised of silk material. The Swigcap is made of two sections,
namely a front section 3 and a rear section 5. The front section 3
and the rear section 5 are stitched together on the outer moon
edges creating the center stitch 7 leaving the bottom straight
edges opened to create the cap opening. The center stitch 7 is
serged to enforce strength between the font section 3 and the rear
section 5. The bottom edges of the cap opening are stitched upward
to create an inner channel for the elastic band 11. The inner
channel now becomes a front elastic band covering 9 and a rear band
covering 13 for the front section 3 and the rear section 5. A small
opening is left open in the channel to provide a way for the
elastic band 11 to be tunneled through the channel leaving enough
elastic band 11 from the opening to create a secure stitch on each
ends of the elastic band 11 to provide secure fit around the
perimeter of hairline. Once elastic band 11 is secured together the
opening in the inner channel is closed off with stitches.
[0011] It is to be understood that he drawings and description
matter are in all cases to be interpreted as illustrative
principles or scope of the invention and not limited to these
embodiments or elements. It is contemplated various changes may be
made in various elements to achieve like results which,
nevertheless, fall within or without departing from the spirit of
the invention or whose scope is defined by the appended claims.
