WEARABLE EXERCISE EQUIPMENT

Abstract

Wearable exercise equipment includes a weighted vest that may use therapy tubing to provide the user with a variety of exercise options. The intensity of the workout with the exercise equipment may be changed by changing the amount and location of weights used as well as by changing the tension of the therapy tubing. The tubing may be placed on the weighted vest so that the arms, legs, back, stomach and neck can be exercised. The vest may also be used for training for runners. The exercise equipment may be used in the place of a therapy chair.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to exercise equipment and, more particularly, to wearable exercise equipment including a weighted vest that utilizes therapy tubing to provide a complete body workout.

[0002] Conventional weighted vests and other weighted exercise equipment use only the heaviness of the vest/equipment to provide resistance. Therefore, significant weight may be needed to provide a user of conventional weighted exercise equipment with a complete workout.

[0003] As can be seen, there is a need for wearable exercise equipment that may provide a complete workout relying solely on weight for resistance.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0004] In one aspect of the present invention, a wearable exercise equipment comprises a vest adapted to be worn about the torso of a user; a plurality of grommets formed in the vest; a plurality of pockets formed in the vest, the pockets adapted to hold one or more weights; and one or more resistance tubings attached to the grommets in the vest.

[0005] In another aspect of the present invention, a wearable exercise equipment comprises a vest adapted to be worn about the torso of a user; a plurality of grommets formed in the vest; a plurality of pockets formed in the vest, the pockets adapted to hold one or more weights; one or more resistance tubings attached to the grommets in the vest; knee wraps adapted to wrap around the user's knee; at least one containment strap in a front portion of the knee wraps; ankle wraps adapted to wrap around the user's ankles; one or more ankle pockets in the ankle wrap, the ankle pockets adapted to contain one or more weights; and a ring attached to at least one of the ankle pockets.

[0006] These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0016] The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.

[0017] Various inventive features are described below that can each be used independently of one another or in combination with other features.

[0018] Broadly, an embodiment of the present invention provides wearable exercise equipment including a weighted vest that may use therapy tubing to provide the user with a variety of exercise options.

[0019] Referring to FIGS. 1 through 9, a wearable exercise equipment 10 may include a vest 12 adapted to be worn by a user. The vest 12 may include a front side 13A and a back side 13B. The front and back sides 13A, 13B may include a plurality of weight pockets 18 for holding one or more weights. The vest 12 may include a plurality of grommets 28 used to attach one or more resistance tubes 22. One or more belts 20 may be provided in the vest 12 to help secure the vest 12 to the user. In some embodiments, two belts 20 are provided about the torso of the vest 12. The resistance tubes 22 may attach to the grommets 28 by any conventional means, for example, with the use of carabiners 24, D-rings, snap hooks, and the like. Handles 26 may be provided on ends of certain ones of the resistance tubes 22. For example, as shown in FIGS. 7 and 8, resistance tubes 22 may be attached to grommets 28 in the sides of the vest 12. Handles 26 may be provided on the ends of the resistance tubes 22 for providing the user the ability to do arm exercises.

[0020] Referring specifically to FIGS. 4 and 5, a knee wrap 14 may be adapted to wrap around a user's knee with straps 34. The straps 34 may be adjustable with a strap length adjuster 36. The straps 34 may be, for example, hook and loop fastener straps. A pliable body 30 at the front of of the knee wrap 14 may include containment straps 32 affixed thereto. The containment straps 32 may be used to hold resistance tubing 22 that spans from a lower front edge of the vest 12, through the containment straps 32, to an ankle wrap 16.

[0021] The ankle wrap 16 may include a plurality of weight pockets 43 adapted to hold one or more weights. The weight pockets 43 may attach to a strap 38 via a D-ring. A strap adjuster 40 may be used to adjust the length of the strap as it is secured to a user's ankle. The resistance tubing 22 extending from the lower front edge of the vest 12, through the containment straps 32 in the knee wrap 14, may attach to one of the D-rings 44 of the weight pockets 42. Similarly, a rear resistance strap 22 may span from a lower back edge of the vest to a D-ring 44 of one of the weight pockets 42 on the ankle wrap 16. In an alternate embodiment, as shown in FIG. 9, the user may secure a resistance tube 22 to an ankle wrap 16 secured to each ankle of the user. The user may then separate their legs to provide resistance therebetween.

[0022] A foam helmet 50 may be optionally provided as part of the wearable exercise equipment 10. The foam helmet 50 may include a chin strap 54 for securing the helmet 50 on the head of the user. A plurality of rings 52 may be secured to the helmet 50. Resistance tubing 22 may be attached to one of the rings 42 and the user may pull on the resistance tubing 22 with their arms, for example, to exercise not only their arms, but their neck muscles as well.

[0023] A head strap 46 may be provided for use either with the helmet 50 or to wear directly on the user's head. The head strap 46 may include a strap 48 made of, for example, nylon, and a piece of resistance tubing 22 connecting to ends of the strap 48. The length of the resistance tubing 22 may be adjustable with adjusters 40. A carabiner 24 may be provided in a central location of the resistance tubing 22. The carabiner 24 may be attached to a back-side neck grommet 28 of the vest 12. The head strap 46 may be useful, for example, to secure the user's head in a desired position during exercise, such as running.

[0024] It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
