ASSEMBLY JOINT STRUCTURE OF A LONG HANDLE AND A SCRAPER TOP FOR A
SCRAPING TOOL
Abstract
The invention is related to an assembly joint structure of a
long handle and a scraper top for a scraping tool. In general, it
contains a long handle for hand grip and a scraper top in the
front. In the invention, the rear central section of the scraper
top has a connecting column of suitable length. On the connecting
column, there are two through holes. In the front of the long
handle, there is a connecting hole that has the same inner diameter
as the outer diameter of the connecting column. On the wall of the
connecting hole there are corresponding through holes. When the
scraper top inserts the connecting column into the connecting hole
of the long handle, rivets can be put in the through holes to
constitute an assembly joint structure between the long handle and
the scraper top.

the long handle.
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] 1. Field of the Invention
[0002] The invention is related to a scraping tool that is used to
remove residual materials on wall or ground. Especially, it refers
to an assembly joint structure of a long handle and a scraper top
for a scraping tool.
[0003] 2. Description of the Prior Art
[0004] For interior remodeling work like replacing carpet or
wallpaper, it requires to thoroughly remove residual materials or
adhesives on wall surface or ground surface to assure firmness and
flatness. FIGS. 1 and 2 show the structural disassembly diagram and
assembly joint diagram for a known scraping tool. The scraping tool
generally consists of a long handle 10 for hand grip and a flat and
wide scraper top 20 in the front. The scraper top 20 forms a clip
base 21 in its inner front. The clip base 21 is equipped with a
clip jaw 22 that is tightened with three screws 23 and secures a
blade 24 inside the clip base 21. Thus, the blade 24 is allowed to
stick out in the front of the clip base 21. The rear of the scraper
top 20 forms a threaded connecting column 26 with screw thread 25.
When the front hollow section of the long handle 10 has a threaded
hole 11, the scraper top 20 can use the threaded connecting column
26 with screw thread 25 to enter the threaded hole 11 in the front
of the long handle 10 and get assembled and joined. This allows a
user to grasp the front or rear section of the long handle 10 and
exert force to facilitate removal of residual materials or
adhesives on wall surface or ground surface by the blade 24.
Further understanding of the assembly and joint structure for the
common scraping tool reveals the following drawbacks during
use:
[0005] First, the scraper top 10 and the blade 24 are flat and wide
and of a certain width. The joint section of the long handle 10 and
the scraper top 20 is located in the rear center of the scraper top
20. That means the force exerted on the long handle 10 is
longitudinal and in the back of the scraper top 20. However, the
scraping side of the blade 24 is under lateral force. When the
blade 24 is under lateral force, it is possible to have unbalanced
forces on either the left or the right side. The unbalanced force
can affect the user in operating the long handle 10 and exerting
longitudinal force to cause rotation of the long handle 10 and
eventually unexpected loosening of the long handle 10 in the
process of exerting force. As a consequence, there is a concern of
separating the long handle 10 and the scraper top 20.
[0006] Second, the force exerted onto the long handle 10 is
transmitted through the assembly joint section to the scraper top
20. If there is a potential for the joint section to be rotated and
loosened due to unbalanced force, there will be a danger of instant
separation during the scraping action.
[0007] The invention aims to eliminate the drawbacks in the
assembly joint structure between a long handle and a scraper top of
a commonly known scraping tool. This is also the motivation of the
invention.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0008] The objective for the invention is to provide an assembly
and joint structure of a long handle and a scraper top for a
scraping tool that the scraper top inserts a connecting column in
the rear section into a connecting hole in the front of the long
handle to prevent rotation of the assembly joint section.
[0009] To achieve the above objective, the invention contains a
connecting column of suitable length formed in the rear central
section of the flat and wide scraper top. The connecting column has
through holes, while the front section of the long handle has a
connecting hole of the same diameter as the outer diameter of the
connecting column. On the tubular wall of the connecting hole there
are corresponding through holes. When the scraper top inserts the
connecting column into the connecting hole in the front of the long
handle and results in a firm joint, rivets can be put in the
through holes to further enhance the assembly joint structure to
prevent rotation between the long handle and the scraper top.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0010] The following figure for a preferred embodiment will
describe the characteristics and functions for the invention:
[0011] FIGS. 3 and 4 show the structural disassembly diagram and
assembly joint cross-sectional diagram for the scraping tool in the
invention. In general, the scraping tool in the invention consists
of a long handle 10 and a wide and flat scraper top 20 in the
front, as seen in a traditional scraping tool. The front of the
scraper top 20 forms a clip base 21. The clip base 21 along with a
clip jaw 22 uses three screws 23 to secure a blade 24 inside. The
blade 24 is allowed to stick out in the front of the clip base 21.
The characteristics of the invention are described as follows. The
rear central section of the scraper top 20 forms a connecting
column 27 of suitable length with two through holes 28. The front
of the long handle 10 has a connecting hole 12 of the same diameter
as the outer diameter of the connecting column 27. The wall of the
connecting hole 12 has corresponding through holes 13. When the
scraper top 20 inserts the connecting column 27 into the connecting
hole 12 in the front of the long handle 10 and results in a firm
joint, rivets 14 can be put in the through holes 13 on the long
handle 10 and pass through the through holes 28 on the connecting
column 27 to further enhance the assembly joint structure to
prevent rotation and separation between the long handle 10 and the
scraper top 20. The firmness of the assembly joint structure allows
the user to firmly and safely grasp the long handle 10 and exert
force to the blade 24 in removing residuals on wall surface or
ground surface.
[0012] The above disclosed figure and description is only for a
preferred embodiment. Any modifications or equivalent applications
by those who are familiar with the technology shall be included in
the patent application scope.
