BACKGROUND
[0002] The present invention relates to a self-standing displays
for selling articles such as clothing and other small items. In
this internet age, more items are being sold online. With this new
trend, it is easier for the average person sell items for extra
money or start an online store. Due to the fact that buyers can't

store, a good photo gallery is critical to getting potential
customers interested. The ideal photo contains the desired item to
be displayed without any other distraction in the photo. For people
beginning an online store, an ideal photo can be difficult to
obtain especially since most internet stores start in homes.
Therefore, a way to display products in an easier way is
needed.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION
[0003] It is a primary object of the present invention to provide a
self-standing display for showing clothes and other items at lower
cost. The present invention relates to a sponge/cloth covered
form/manikin of a preferred dimensions of 24.times.20.times.3 to
display female/male clothing & misc. items to photograph for
sale on the Internet. In the illustrated embodiment, the display
stand comprises of an adjustable pole of up to 6 feet and a torso
member. The pole further comprises adjustments at every 12 inches
on the pole. In use the adjustable pole allows for longer items of
clothing to be displayed. The stand, with an expandable pole,
allows a complete men's suit, for example, to be shown. Any type of
male clothing would be adaptable for display along with accessories
as applicable. The previous explanatory regarding female and male
displays would also apply to children. The present invention
consists of a sponge form-mannequin designed to conform to the
structure of the body to resemble the neck, shoulders, upper arms
and the waist downward to the upper thighs.
[0004] In this age of internet shopping, people need a way to
easily display their clothing items in a photograph for a shopping
website. A photograph of the intended item for sale is usually
submitted to the website to help customers get a visual idea of the
product. The basic idea or principal object of use of the invention
is to assist in the display of clothing-type items and/or
accessories, as well as other miscellaneous items, to be
photographed for sale on the Internet. These and other aspects,
features and advantages shall be apparent from the accompanying
Drawings and description of certain embodiments of the
invention.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
[0005] FIG. 1 is a frontal view of the torso member of the present
invention.
[0006] FIG. 2 is a side view of the torso member of the present
invention
[0007] FIG. 3 is frontal perspective view of the stand and the
torso member.
[0008] FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the present invention on the
extension stand.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0009] Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, the present invention comprises
the self-standing display structure that comprises an extension
stand (12) and a torso member (2). Torso member 2 in the preferred
embodiment is created out of a sponge like material and has a
pre-determined depth which is approximately three inches of
thickness. However, torso member (2) is not limited in thickness to
3 inches. Torso member (2) is crafted to resemble a human torso
from a side view for the purposes of displaying clothing. Thus, the
torso member (2) further comprises a front flat surface area and a
back flat surface area.
[0010] It is divided by a neck portion 10, upper torso portion 15,
lower torso portion 23, and an indentation 20 which forms the waist
portion. The torso member 2 is unisex and capable of accommodating
female or male clothing. It comes in various sizes to accommodate
clothing for a small size to an extra-large size. The present
invention can also be constructed to accommodate children's sizes.
Furthermore, a cloth material covers the torso member 2.
[0011] The collar portion (10) is centrally disposed above the
upper torso portion (15). the upper torso portion (15) has a top
curved structure extending downwardly from the collar to the waist
portion (20) and forms the arm and chest region resembling the
human body. The lower torso portion (23) has a lower curved
structure extending upwardly from a lower edge of the lower torso
portion to the waist portion(20).
[0012] The waist portion (20) situated between the upper torso and
the lower torso and have a shorter diameter than the upper (15) and
lower torso portion (23). As shown the waist portion (20) forms an
indentation sandwiched between the upper torso portion (20) and the
lower torso portion (23). Alternatively the upper torso portion 15
can be adapted with removable breast members of various sizes to
allow the torso member to be used display women clothing if it is
desired. The torso member (2) have a fastener adapted to removably
fasten the extension stand (12) wherein the self standing display
is adapted to display clothing.
[0013] An extension stand 12 is used to support the torso member 2.
Referring to FIG. 3, the extension stand is a cylindrical pole 32
that extends vertically. The user pulls on the pole 32 in order to
expand it. The lower end of stand (12) is attached to a ground
engaging base 30 that has a plurality of legs 31. The stand (12)
contains a plurality of apertures or holes 33 aligned along the
longitudinal axis of pole (32). Apertures 33 allows the user to
place the form at various heights up to six feet. As shown in the
preferred embodiment, each hole 33 is set at every twelve inches.
Additionally, a removable hook 35 can be used in conjunction with
the pole 32 to accommodate clothing and other items at various
heights. Referring to FIG. 4, the torso member 2 attaches to the
stand by way of the hook member 33. In an alternative embodiment of
the invention, the user is able to attach a shelf (34) for non
clothing items into one of the holes 33. Shelf (34) has a flat
surface area with a side that is removable attached to the pole
(32).
