Abstract

The present invention is an improved self standing display for small articles and clothing. The display stand comprising an adjustable elongated shaft member and an attachable torso member. The torso member comprises a front and back flat surface area with a depth therebetween.

Claims



1. A self-standing display for clothing and other articles, the display comprising: an extension stand having an elongated shaft member defined by an upper end and a lower end; a ground engaging base member securely attached to the lower end of the elongated shaft; a plurality of apertures aligned along the longitudinal axis of the elongated shaft; and a fastener adapted to removably and securely engage within one of the plurality of apertures wherein an article can be attached to the display.

The display of claim 1 wherein the extension stand further comprises: a contiguous formed torso member having a front flat surface area, a back flat surface area with a predetermined depth therebetween; the torso member being made of a sponge like material; the torso member further comprising an upper torso portion, a lower torso portion, a collar, and a waste portion; the collar portion being centrally disposed above the upper torso portion; the upper torso portion having a top curved structure extending downwardly from the collar to the waist portion; the lower torso portion having a lower curved structure extending upwardly from a lower edge of the lower torso portion to the waist portion; the waist portion situated between the upper torso and the lower torso and having a shorter diameter than the upper and lower torso portion; and the torso member having a fastener adapted to removably fasten the extension stand wherein the self standing display is adapted to display clothing.

3. The display of claim 1 wherein the elongated shaft member is adapted to adjust to various lengths.

4. The display of claim 3 wherein the elongated shaft member is adapted to adjust up to a length of 6 feet.

5. The display of claim 1 wherein the faster is a hook mechanism that is adapted to removably engage into an aperture.

6. The display of claim 1 further comprising: a shelf having a polygonal shape; and the shelf having a flat upper surface with one of the side being adapted to securely engage with the elongated shaft member.

7. The display of claim 2 wherein breast members can be removably attached to the front surface area of the torso member.

BACKGROUND

[0002] The present invention relates to a self-standing displays for selling articles such as clothing and other small items. In this internet age, more items are being sold online. With this new trend, it is easier for the average person sell items for extra money or start an online store. Due to the fact that buyers can't have physical contact with the product like a traditional retail store, a good photo gallery is critical to getting potential customers interested. The ideal photo contains the desired item to be displayed without any other distraction in the photo. For people beginning an online store, an ideal photo can be difficult to obtain especially since most internet stores start in homes. Therefore, a way to display products in an easier way is needed.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

[0003] It is a primary object of the present invention to provide a self-standing display for showing clothes and other items at lower cost. The present invention relates to a sponge/cloth covered form/manikin of a preferred dimensions of 24.times.20.times.3 to display female/male clothing & misc. items to photograph for sale on the Internet. In the illustrated embodiment, the display stand comprises of an adjustable pole of up to 6 feet and a torso member. The pole further comprises adjustments at every 12 inches on the pole. In use the adjustable pole allows for longer items of clothing to be displayed. The stand, with an expandable pole, allows a complete men's suit, for example, to be shown. Any type of male clothing would be adaptable for display along with accessories as applicable. The previous explanatory regarding female and male displays would also apply to children. The present invention consists of a sponge form-mannequin designed to conform to the structure of the body to resemble the neck, shoulders, upper arms and the waist downward to the upper thighs.

[0004] In this age of internet shopping, people need a way to easily display their clothing items in a photograph for a shopping website. A photograph of the intended item for sale is usually submitted to the website to help customers get a visual idea of the product. The basic idea or principal object of use of the invention is to assist in the display of clothing-type items and/or accessories, as well as other miscellaneous items, to be photographed for sale on the Internet. These and other aspects, features and advantages shall be apparent from the accompanying Drawings and description of certain embodiments of the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0009] Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, the present invention comprises the self-standing display structure that comprises an extension stand (12) and a torso member (2). Torso member 2 in the preferred embodiment is created out of a sponge like material and has a pre-determined depth which is approximately three inches of thickness. However, torso member (2) is not limited in thickness to 3 inches. Torso member (2) is crafted to resemble a human torso from a side view for the purposes of displaying clothing. Thus, the torso member (2) further comprises a front flat surface area and a back flat surface area.

[0010] It is divided by a neck portion 10, upper torso portion 15, lower torso portion 23, and an indentation 20 which forms the waist portion. The torso member 2 is unisex and capable of accommodating female or male clothing. It comes in various sizes to accommodate clothing for a small size to an extra-large size. The present invention can also be constructed to accommodate children's sizes. Furthermore, a cloth material covers the torso member 2.

[0011] The collar portion (10) is centrally disposed above the upper torso portion (15). the upper torso portion (15) has a top curved structure extending downwardly from the collar to the waist portion (20) and forms the arm and chest region resembling the human body. The lower torso portion (23) has a lower curved structure extending upwardly from a lower edge of the lower torso portion to the waist portion(20).

[0012] The waist portion (20) situated between the upper torso and the lower torso and have a shorter diameter than the upper (15) and lower torso portion (23). As shown the waist portion (20) forms an indentation sandwiched between the upper torso portion (20) and the lower torso portion (23). Alternatively the upper torso portion 15 can be adapted with removable breast members of various sizes to allow the torso member to be used display women clothing if it is desired. The torso member (2) have a fastener adapted to removably fasten the extension stand (12) wherein the self standing display is adapted to display clothing.

[0013] An extension stand 12 is used to support the torso member 2. Referring to FIG. 3, the extension stand is a cylindrical pole 32 that extends vertically. The user pulls on the pole 32 in order to expand it. The lower end of stand (12) is attached to a ground engaging base 30 that has a plurality of legs 31. The stand (12) contains a plurality of apertures or holes 33 aligned along the longitudinal axis of pole (32). Apertures 33 allows the user to place the form at various heights up to six feet. As shown in the preferred embodiment, each hole 33 is set at every twelve inches. Additionally, a removable hook 35 can be used in conjunction with the pole 32 to accommodate clothing and other items at various heights. Referring to FIG. 4, the torso member 2 attaches to the stand by way of the hook member 33. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the user is able to attach a shelf (34) for non clothing items into one of the holes 33. Shelf (34) has a flat surface area with a side that is removable attached to the pole (32).
