DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0016] The present invention will be clearer from the following
description when viewed together with the accompanying drawings,
which show, for purpose of illustrations only, the preferred
embodiment in accordance with the present invention.
[0017] Referring to FIGS. 1-2, an automatic pop-up cigar cutter in
accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention
comprises a base 10, a cutting blade assembly 20, at least one
cutting blade spring 40, a control knob assembly 50, and a control
spring 60.
[0018] The base 10 is formed at one side thereof with a
cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11, and an assembling hole
12 penetrating the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11 is
formed adjacent to an opening of the cutting-blade-assembly
receiving groove 11. The cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11
is provided on at least one side thereof with an assembling groove
13. In the present embodiment, the cutting-blade-assembly receiving
groove 11 is provided on both sides thereof with an assembling
groove 13. The base 10 is further formed with a cutting hole 14
penetrating the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11, and the
cutting hole 14 is normally round.
[0019] The cutting blade assembly 20 is disposed in the
cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11 from the opening of the
cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11 of the base 10. The
cutting blade assembly 20 is provided with a cutting blade 30 at an
end thereof which extends into the cutting-blade-assembly receiving
groove 11. The cutting blade assembly 20 is further provided on at
least one side thereof with an assembling pin 21 for cooperating
with the assembling groove 13, and in the present embodiment, the
cutting blade assembly 20 is provided on both sides thereof with an
assembling pin 21. The cutting blade assembly 20 is formed with a
fixing hole 31, and a moving hole 32 extending from the fixing hole
31 in the sliding direction of the cutting blade 30. A width of the
fixing hole 31 is greater than that of the moving hole 32 in the
sliding direction of the cutting blade 30. The fixing hole 31 and
the moving hole 32 both are through holes.
[0020] In the present embodiment, two cutting blade springs 40 are
provided. The two cutting blade springs 40 are mounted on the
assembling pins 21 in the assembling grooves 13. A first end of
each of the two cutting blade springs 40 is pressed against the
base 10, and a second end of each of the two cutting blade springs
40 is pressed against the cutting blade assembly 20, so that the
cutting blade assembly 20 and the cutting blade 30 are normally
elastically pressed toward the opening of the
cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11.
[0021] The control knob assembly 50 includes a fixing knob 51 and a
moving knob 52. The fixing knob 511 is formed with a fixing
cylinder 511, and the fixing cylinder 511 is formed with a through
hole 512. The moving knob 52 is formed with a moving cylinder 521,
and the moving cylinder 521 is interiorly formed with a threaded
portion 522. The fixing knob 51 and the moving knob 52 are mated
with each other in the assembling hole 12 of the base 10, and a
threaded element 53 is inserted through the through hole 512 of the
fixing cylinder 511 and screwed with the threaded portion 522 in
such a manner that the fixing knob 51 and the moving knob 52 is
located at both sides of the base 10. A sealing cover 54 covers the
through hole 512 of the fixing knob 51 to seal the threaded element
53 in the through hole 512 of the fixing knob 51. The width of the
fixing cylinder 511 is smaller than that of the fixing hole 31 and
greater than that of the moving hole 32, and the width of the
moving cylinder 521 is smaller than that of the moving hole 32, so
that the fixing cylinder 511 and the moving cylinder 521 can move
in the assembling hole 12 along a direction of the cutting blade
30. When the fixing cylinder 511 extends into the fixing hole 31,
the cutting blade 30 will be in a pressed stored state, and when
the moving cylinder 521 extends into the moving hole 32, the
cutting blade 30 will be in a pop-up state.
[0022] The control spring 60 is disposed between the moving knob 52
of the control knob assembly 50 and the base 10. A first end of the
control spring 60 is pressed against the moving knob 52, and a
second end of the control spring 60 is pressed against the base 10.
The control knob assembly 50 is normally elastically pressed toward
the moving knob 52.
[0023] When the cigar cutter is not in use, as shown in FIGS. 3-4,
pressing the cutting blade assembly 20 can push the cutting blade
30 downwards through the cutting hole 14 and finally into the
cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11, meanwhile, the cutting
blade springs 40 will be compressed, and the fixing hole 31 of the
cutting blade 30 will be aligned with the control knob assembly 50.
Since the control spring 60 elastically pushes against the moving
knob 52, the moving knob 52 will protrude outwards to push the
fixing cylinder 511 of the fixing knob 51 back into the fixing hole
31, and since the fixing cylinder 511 is bigger than the moving
hole 32, the fixing cylinder 511 will be limited in the fixing hole
31, thus keeping the cutting assembly 20 and the cutting blade 30
in the pressed state while keeping the cutting blade springs 40 in
a compressed state.
[0024] To use cigar cutter, as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, pressing the
moving knob 52 of the control knob assembly 50 can push the fixing
cylinder 511 away from the fixing hole 31 while pressing the
control spring 60 to make the moving cylinder 521 extend into the
fixing hole 31 of the cutting blade 30, since the moving cylinder
521 is smaller than the fixing hole 31 and the moving hole 32, the
compressed cutting blade springs 40 will push the cutting blade 30
out of the cutting-blade-assembly receiving groove 11 and the
moving hole 32 to move relative to the moving cylinder 521. When
the moving cylinder 321 arrives at a second end of the moving hole
32 from the fixing hole 31 at a first end of the moving hole 32,
the cutting blade 30 will move away from the cutting hole 14, at
this moment, a cigar can be inserted into the cutting hole 14, and
then the cutting assembly 20 will be pressed to move toward the
cutting hole 14 together with the cutting blade 30, and thus the
cutting blade 30 will cut off the cigar in the cutting hole 14.
[0025] A cutting blade assembly 20A in accordance with another
embodiment of the present invention, as shown in FIG. 7, includes a
fixing hole 31 A which is a blind hole, and a moving hole 32A which
is a through hole.
[0026] With the abovementioned arrangements, the automatic pop-up
cigar cutter has the following advantages:
[0027] 1. To use the cigar cutter, the user only needs to press the
control knob assembly 50 only, the cutting blade assembly 20
including the cutting blade 30 will pop up by means of the cutting
blade spring 40, achieving the objective of exposing the cutting
hole 14, it can be found that the user can perform such an
operation with one hand and insert the cigar through the cutting
hole 14 with the other hand, after that, the user can press down
the cutting blade assembly with the same hand to cut off the cigar,
improving the convenience in use.
[0028] 2. The cutting blade assembly 20 can be assuredly fixed by
the control knob assembly 50, so that when not in use, the cutting
blade 30 of the cutting blade assembly 20 won't move, open or close
unexpectedly, avoiding the undesired cutting and further improving
the safety in use.
[0029] While we have shown and described various embodiments in
accordance with the present invention, it is clear to those skilled
in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing
from the scope of the present invention.
