Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a safety device, and more particularly, to a curtain rope safety device which allows the rope to be separated from the curtain when needed.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] A conventional curtain assembly generally includes a top box in which the mechanism for operation of the curtain assembly is received and a curtain has one end connected to the top box. The curtain includes multiple parallel folding lines transversely made to the curtain and each folding line is cooperated with a transverse passage in which a rod is received. Multiple rings are fixed along each of the folding line and cables connected to the mechanism extend through the rings. The cables are fixed to the rings located at the lowermost rings so that when the users operate the mechanism, the cables are scrolled upward, the curtain is lifted and folded along the folding lines by the cables fixed to the lowermost rings.

[0003] Nevertheless, the cables are not able to released when in some emergency situations such as kids got caught by the cables. When a kid got caught by the cables, the kid struggles and tries to remove from the cables which are not loosened because two ends of each cable are fixedly connected to the top box and the lowermost rings. Besides, when the users want to maintain the curtain assembly, the cables need to be separated from the lowermost rings and this may take a while.

[0004] The present invention intends to provide a curtain rope safety device which allows the cable to be separated from the lowermost connection members fixed on the curtain by applying a certain level of force.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0005] The present invention relates to a curtain assembly which comprises a top box and a curtain has a first end connected with the top box. The curtain includes multiple folding lines and multiple rods are connected to the curtain along the folding lines. Each folding line includes multiple rings connected thereto. Multiple cables each have a first end connected to the top box and a second end of each cable extends through the rings. Multiple connection members are fixedly connected to the curtain and located close to a second end of the curtain. Each connection member includes a connection portion and a plate, wherein the connection portion is fixed to the curtain and the plate includes an engaging recess. Multiple engaging members are connected to second ends of the cables respectively and each engaging member includes a top plate and an engaging portion. The second end of each cable extends through a through hole defined through the top plate and is connected to the engaging portion corresponding thereto. The engaging portion is disengageably engaged with the engaging recess of the plate corresponding thereto.

[0006] The primary object of the present invention is to provide a safety device which allows the cable to be separated from the connection member fixed on the curtain so that the cable has a free end after the cable is separated from the connection member.

[0007] The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.

[0018] FIG. 11 is a top cross sectional view to show the engagement disclosed in FIG. 10.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0019] Referring to FIGS. 1 to 4, the curtain assembly 10 of the present invention comprises a top box 11 fixed on the wall or window frame and mechanism (not shown) for operation of the curtain assembly 10 is received in the top box 11. A curtain 13 has a first end connected with the top box 11 and operatively connected with the mechanism and multiple folding lines 130 are defined transversely to the curtain 13. Multiple rods 14 are connected to the curtain 13 along the folding lines 130 and each folding line 130 includes multiple rings 131 connected thereto. Multiple cables 12 each have a first end connected to the top box 11 and operatively connected with the mechanism in the top box 11, and a second end of each cable 12 extends through the rings 131.

[0020] Multiple connection members 20 are fixedly connected to the curtain 13 and located close to a second end of the curtain 13. Each connection member 20 includes a loop-like connection portion 22 and a plate 21 which is connected to the connection portion 22. The connection portions 22 are fixed to the curtain 13 and the plate 21 includes two extensions between which an engaging recess 210 is defined. Each extension includes a protrusion extending from an inside thereof so that the engaging recess 210 includes a narrow opening.

[0021] Multiple engaging members 30 are connected to second ends of the cables 12 respectively and each engaging member 30 includes a top plate 31 and an engaging portion 32 which is a spherical member and connected to an underside of the top plate 31. Each top plate 31 has a through hole 310 and each

[0022] The second end of each cable 12 extending through a through hole 310 defined through the top plate 31 and connected to the engaging portion 32 corresponding thereto, the engaging portion 32 disengageably engaged with the engaging recess 210 of the plate 21 corresponding thereto. Each engaging portion 32 includes a passage defined therethrough which includes an enlarged opening 320. The passage communicates with the through hole 310 of the top plate 31. The second end of the cable 12 has a knot which is engaged with the enlarged opening 320 as shown in FIG. 4.

[0023] As shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, when the mechanism is operated, the cables 12 are pulled upward, the engaging members 30 pull the connection members 20 to lift the curtain 13 which is folded along the folding lines 130. When the cables 12 are released, the curtain 13 expands downward by the gravity as shown in FIG. 1.

[0024] As shown in FIG. 7, when any of the cables 12 are pulled suddenly by a certain level of force, the engaging portion 32 can be disengaged from the engaging recess 210 so that the cable 12 cannot tightly wrap a kid for example. Similarly, when the curtain assembly 10 needs to be maintained, the engaging portions 32 can be disengaged from the engaging recesses 210 manually.

[0025] FIGS. 8 to 11 show two different embodiments of the engaging portions 32, wherein the engaging portions 32 can be an oval object when viewed from top and the long axis of the engaging portion 32 can be arranged within the engaging recess 210 as desired.

[0026] It is noted that the connection members 20 can be made of plastic or metal, and the engaging members 30 can also be made of plastic or metal.

[0027] While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
