Abstract
Beverage holder apparatus pivots on two axes and folds for
storage. A bottom plate on which the beverage rests is secured to a
support bracket which in turn is secured to a holder ring through
which the beverage extends, and the bottom plate, support bracket,
and holder ring pivot together. The holder ring is in turn secured
to a support ring, which is pinned to and accordingly pivots on a
hinge plate, which in turn pivots on a fixed plate.

Description
PREVIOUS FILING
[0001] This application emanates from a previous provisional filing
61/036,885, Mar. 14, 2008
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0002] This invention relates to beverage holders and coolers and,
more particularly, to a beverage holder which pivots and swivels to
compensate for movement and secured by a clasping device which can
be attached to clothing, belt, etc.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0003] The prior art includes numerous types of cup holder and the
classification for the particular invention may well be termed a
crowded art. Patent searching revealed a great number of cup holder
types that answer the broad, general description; however, the
invention lies in particulars of construction. Representative prior
art U.S. patents are presented herewith by means of the Information
Disclosure Statement.
PRIOR ART
[0004] U.S. Pat. No. 1,079,192 discloses a bottle holder which
includes a back plate and two rings, the bottom ring of which
includes an inwardly extending flange for receiving the bottom of a
bottle. The bottle extends to the upper ring and is accordingly
supported on the bottom ring. Both rings fold flat against the
fixed back plate.
[0005] U.S. Pat. No. 1,121,179 discloses a back plate and two
elements pivotally secured to the back plate. The bottom plate is
spring loaded to provide a bias against the back plate when the
bottom plate is not down and in use for holding a bottle. The
second pivotable plate is pivotally secured to the side of the back
plate and accordingly it pivots 90.degree with respect to the
bottom plate. The purpose of the side plate is to hold the bottom
plate in its down or open position against the bias of the bottom
plate's spring.
[0006] U.S. Pat. No. 2,649,270 also discloses a folding receptacle
holder for a beverage glass or the like. Two plates are held in a
parallel relationship by appropriate linkage, and they both pivot
on a back plate from an "up" or folded position to a "down" or open
position. The outermost element defines a bottom plate when the
apparatus is in its open position, and the uppermost element
comprises a ring through which the cup, or the like, extends.
[0007] U.S. Pat. No. 2,754,078 discloses another type of holder in
which a bottom plate folds outwardly from a back plate, and an
upper ring folds outwardly and upwardly. For nesting or closed
purposes, the upper ring folds downwardly and the bottom plate
folds upwardly to enclose the ring and to act as a cover for the
apparatus.
[0008] U.S. Pat. No. 2,903,225 discloses another type of holder
apparatus which includes a bottom spring element and an upper ring
element. The ring element includes a gap through which a cup handle
extends. The cup extends through the ring element and against the
bottom spring element. The longer or heavier the cup which extends
through the open ring element, the more compressed the spring
element is.
[0009] U.S. Pat. No. 3,233,858 discloses another folding cup holder
apparatus with an upper ring and a lower bottom plate. The bottom
plate is smaller than the upper ring and folds within the upper
ring for storage purposes. The bottom folds upwardly and the upper
ring folds downwardly and outside the bottom plate. Both the bottom
plate and the upper ring are pivotally secured to a back plate.
[0010] U.S. Pat. No. 3,391,891 discloses a wire hanger apparatus
for holding a vacuum bottle, or the like, as from a vehicle seat or
window. The hanger includes two upper loops, open at the bottom,
which hang over a vehicle seat, in a window, etc. A plurality of
rings are supported on cross pins and the vacuum bottle extends
through the ring. At the bottom of the apparatus is a support for
the bottom of the thermos bottle.
[0011] The swivel clip can/bottle cooler is a can/bottle cooler
that has a swiveling belt clip attached to it. The can/bottle
cooler swivels on the clip so the open beverage does not spill when
clipped on the belt of a person. The can/bottle cooler is also
detachable from the clip so the clip stays on the belt while the
beverage is consumed
[0012] The swivel clip can/bottle cooler improves can and bottle
coolers By attaching a pivot knob to the can or bottle cooler, it
can be attached to a swiveling belt clip. This makes it easy for
someone to use their hands freely without having to find a safe
location to set their beverage down preventing the risk of spilling
it.
[0013] The invention is a can or bottle cooler that attaches and
detaches from a swiveling belt clip for easy use.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0014] The invention described and claimed herein comprises a
clasping and pivoting holder for beverage cooler for containers
such as a cup, a glass, a can, a bottle, etc., which includes
elements pivotable on one plane for maintaining the beverage
container in a relatively vertical orientation regardless of the
motion of the individual which the apparatus is secured.
[0015] Among the objects of the present invention are the
following:
[0016] To provide new and useful beverage cooler with clasp;
[0017] To provide new and useful beverage cooler apparatus which is
reusable
[0018] To provide new and useful beverage cooler apparatus for
attachment to a person; and
[0019] To provide new and useful beverage holder apparatus
pivotable on a single plane.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0033] FIG. 1: The swivel cooler is a pivoting cooler that attaches
to a person using a detachable swiveling belt clip (Marked 1 on the
figure). The cooler attaches itself to the swiveling belt clip by a
plastic pivot button (Marked 2 on the figure). This plastic pivot
button is attached by a rivot (Marked 3 on the figure) to the
cooler and a plastic support bar (Marked 4 on the figure) inside of
the cooler. The plastic support bar provides stability to the
cooler in order for the cooler to pivot on a perpendicular plane to
the plastic pivot button.
[0034] FIGS. 2 and 3: The plastic support bar (Marked 1 on the
figure) is located on the inside of the cooler. It is attached to
the plastic pivot button (Marked 2 on the figure) on the outside of
the cooler. The cooler can then be detached from the detachable
swiveling belt clip (Marked 3 on the figure) leaving the clip on
the person.
[0035] FIGS. 4 and 5: The plastic pivot button (Marked 1 on the
figure) is attached by a rivot (Marked 2 on the figure) to the
cooler and a plastic support bar (Marked 3 on the figure) on the
inside of the cooler. The support bar keeps the cooler and its
contents perpendicular to the pivot button in order for the cooler
to pivot with least resistance on the plastic pivot button when
placed in the detachable swiveling belt clip.
