Description
[0001] This application is a Continuation-In-Part of my patent
application Ser. No. 11/746,068, filed on May 9, 2007.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] 1. Field of the Invention
[0003] The present invention relates to badges and more
particularly, to a souvenir badge, which comprises a badge body
made of a magnetically attractive material with a particular shape
to show a design, and a positioning block made of a magnet for
attracting the badge body to secure the badge body to an
object.
[0004] 2. Description of the Related Art
[0005] A badge is a device presented or displayed to indicate some
feat of service, a special accomplishment, a symbol of authority, a
sign of legitmate employment or student status, or to tell other
something interesting about you. They are also used in advertising
and publicity. Like coins and stamps, badges have become highly
collectible: Monument badge is one of the popular badges functions.
When a new monument is established, the landscape owner or
management authority may issue a badge for memory. For example,
when Hong Kong Disneyland is opened, it becomes a hot landsacpe in
Asia. While visiting this landscape, visitors usually will buy a
souvenir badge from the shops in Disneyland.
[0006] Further, when a local, national, or international festival,
cultral activity or sports activity is held, the organization in
charge may also issue souvenir badges for collection. Since Athens
Olympic, it has become a convention of the Olympic games to issue
souvenir badges. Generally an Olympic souvenir badge is a circular
copper plate carrying the Olympic logo, the symbol of the holding
city, and other marks concerned.
[0007] Further, modern people have critical requirements for
badges. In addition to practical use, beauty, innovation and unique
feature are the main factors to attract people to buy a badge. To
compete in market, it is necessary to provide a creative design.
Further, many souvenir badges are commercially available. A
conventional souvenir badge is known comprising a badge body and a
positioning block. The badge body has a downwardly extending stem
that has a pointed tip. The positioning block has a center hole and
a plurality of springy clamping portions. During installation,
press the springy clamping portions and insert the stem of the
badge body into the center hole of the positioning block, and then
release the hand from springy clamping portions after insertion of
the stem of the badge body into the center hole of the positioning
block to have the springy clamping portions secure the stem to the
positioning block. This design of souvenir badge is still not
satisfactory in function. Because the stem has a smooth surface,
the positioning block may be unable to secure the badge body in
place when the clamping force of the springy clamping portions
begins to deteriorate. Further, a souvenir badge generally has a
small size, it is not easy to accurately insert the stem of the
badge body into the center hole of the positioning block at the
first attempt. When inserting the stem of the badge body into the
center hole of the locating bloc, the pointed tip of the stem of
the badge body may injure the user's hand accidentally. When
pressing the springy clamping portions and detaching the badge body
from the positioning block, the pointed tip of the stem of the
badge body may also injure the user's hand accidentally.
[0008] Therefore, it is desirable to provide a souvenir badge,
which eliminates the aforesaid drawbacks.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0009] The present invention has been accomplished under the
circumstances in view. It is therefore the main object of the
present invention to provide a souvenir badge, which has high
pull-out force, assuring quick and positive positioning. It is
another object of the present invention to provide a souvenir
badge, which is inexpensive to manufacture and safety to use.
[0010] To achieve these and other objects of the present invention,
a souvenir badge comprises a badge body and a positioning block.
The badge body is made of a magnetically attractive material,
having a head and a stem perpendicularly extending from the bottom
side of the head for fastening the badge body to a nonmetal sheet
member. The head can be made in any of a variety of shapes to show
a symbol or design. The positioning block is made of a magnet,
having a positioning hole for receiving the stem of the badge body.
By means of inserting the stem of the badge body through a nonmetal
sheet member and capping the positioning block with its positioning
hole onto the stem, the badge body and the positioning block are
secured to the nonmetal sheet member by a magnetic attractive force
between the badge body and the positioning block. Because the badge
body and the positioning block are simple in structure, they are
easy and inexpensive to manufacture.
[0011] Further, the stem of the badge body can be made having a
pointed tip. By means of the pointed tip, the stem can easily be
inserted through a nonmetal sheet member. Further, by means of
magnetic attraction between the badge body and the positioning
block, the pointed tip of the stem can be inserted into the
positioning hole of the positioning block quickly and accurately
with low insertion force, avoiding accidental injury.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0018] Referring to FIG. 1, a souvenir badge 1 in accordance with
the present invention is shown comprising a badge body 11 and a
positioning block 12. The badge body 11 has a head 111, and at
least one stem 112 perpendicularly extended from the bottom side of
the head 111 at the center. According to this embodiment, the badge
body 11 has one stem 112. The stem 112 is a round rod having a
pointed tip 113. Further, the badge body 11 is made of a
magnetically attractive material, for example, iron or steel.
[0019] The positioning block 12 is a magnet that produces a
magnetic field that attracts the badge body 11. Further, the
positioning block 12 has a positioning hole 121.
[0020] Referring to FIGS. 2 and 3 and FIG. 1, by means of the
pointed tip 113, the stem 112 can be inserted through a sports cap
2 to keep the head 111 in close contact with the outer surface of
the sports cap 2, and then the positioning block 12 can be capped
with its positioning hole 121 on the pointed tip 113 of the stem
112 and closely attached to the inner surface of the sports cap 2
to attract the badge body 11 by means of magnetic attraction and to
further secure the souvenir badge 1 to the sports cap 2.
[0021] Referring to FIG. 4, the souvenir badge 1 can be fastened to
a user's clothe 3 by: forcing the stem 112 through the user's
clothe 3 and then capping the positioning block 12 with its
positioning hole 121 onto the pointed tip 113 of the stem 112 to
have the badge body 11 and the positioning block 12 be respectively
disposed at the outer and inner sides of the user's clothe 3 and
attract each other by means of magnetic attraction. Further, the
stem 112 of the badge body 11 may be made having a plain free end
for direct insertion into the positioning hole 121 of the
positioning block 12, avoiding accidental injury.
[0022] Referring to FIG. 5, the positioning block 12 can be
directly embedded in the visor 21 of a sports cap 2. The user can
pierce the pointed tip 113 of the stem 112 of the badge body 11
through the visor 21 of the sports cap 2 and force the pointed tip
113 into the positioning hole 121 of the positioning block 12,
enabling the badge body 11 to be secured to the positioning block
12 in the visor 21 of the sports cap 2 by means of magnetic
attraction.
[0023] FIG. 6 is an exploded view of an alternative form of the
present invention. According to this embodiment, the souvenir badge
1 is comprised of a badge body 11 and two positioning blocks 12.
The badge body 11 has a head 111, and two stems 112 perpendicularly
extending from the bottom side of the head 111. The head 111 shows
a pattern, for example, the geographical shape of Taiwan. The two
stems 112 are arranged in parallel for insertion through the cloth
or fabric of a device, each having a pointed tip 113. The
positioning blocks 12 each have a positioning hole 121 for
receiving the stems 112 to secure the badge body 11 to the cloth or
fabric body of the device by means of a magnetic attractive force
between the badge body 11 and the positioning blocks 12.
[0024] As stated above, a souvenir badge in accordance with the
present invention comprises a magnetically attractive badge body,
which has a head and at least one bottom stem, and at least one
positioning block for receiving the at least one bottom stem of the
magnetically attractive badge body and magnetically attracting the
magnetically attractive badge body. The head of the badge body can
be made in any of a variety of shapes to show a design.
[0025] In general, the invention provides a souvenir badge that has
the following advantages:
[0026] 1. By means of magnetic attraction between the badge body 11
and the positioning block 12, the souvenir badge has a high
pull-out force, and therefore the souvenir badge can be firmly
fastened to a device (for example, a sports cap 2 or user's clothe
3). The souvenir badge 1 when installed in a device (for example,
the sports cap 2 or user's clothe 3), it decorates the device, and
shows a commercial value in addition to the artistic value.
[0027] 2. By means of the pointed tip 113, the stem 112 of the
badge body 11 can pierce a certain thickness of fabric or the like
easily, and by means of magnetic attraction between the badge body
11 and the positioning block 12, the pointed tip 113 of the stem
112 can be quickly and accurately inserted into the positioning
hole 121 of the positioning block 12 with low insertion force,
avoiding accidental injury.
[0028] Although particular embodiments of the invention have been
described in detail for purposes of illustration, various
modifications and enhancements may be made without departing from
the spirit and scope of the invention. Accordingly, the invention
is not to be limited except as by the appended claims.
