Artificial Nose Hair

Abstract

This invention involves artificial nose hair, which improves and reinforces the function of human physiological nose hair. It's designed according to the nature structure of human nose hair. Different than the existing nose filters and mask, artificial nose hair doesn't harms the physiological nose hair and nasal membrane when used. In addition to the filtering characteristic, artificial nose hair also exploit the beneficial possibility of functional fiber when manufactured with specific material. For example, it can be used as medicine carrier or physical therapy.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] Medical Bionics Products has always been a vital member within the development of medical care products. Some examples are; artificial kidney, artificial limb, artificial nail and etc. The invention of artificial nose hair is based on the same concept. Human physiological nose hair plays a critical role and acting as first guard in our self-protect system against foreign particles in air. With the assistance of nasal membrane, nose hair can successfully block particle size greater than 10 .mu.m. The result is moderate filtered air entering our lung. But human nose hair can't stop dust, germ, and other particles smaller than 10 .mu.m from harming our body. It also can't block pollens or dust mites, which can cause allergy, nasal infection and harmful materials from contacting with nasal membrane.

[0002] Therefore, I invented the artificial nose hair that can be placed in nasal vestibule to strengthen the function of human nose hair. This practical addition will not only allow filtered clean air to be breathed in, but also block harmful particles from contacting nasal membrane. Artificial nose hair has a further value to people who are experiencing physiological nose hair degradation due to disease or aging. In addition, people who breathe under deleterious air quality can benefit from using this item.

[0003] During current medication process, sometimes it is required to supply medicine through vestibule and nasal membrane. Unobstructed breathing is also needed for both cases. We need a nasal medicine carrier for this purpose.

[0004] With the advancement of technology, many functional fibers such as negative ion fiber were been developed. Artificial nose hair made from these functional fibers expands the possibility of additional benefits to users.

[0005] The existing air filtration market is dominated by products like face mask and respirator. They are effective but inconvenient during routine use. Some reduce sized air filters such as nasal filters are also available. But again they are not based on the medical bionics concept and don't possess the function and benefit of artificial nose hair.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0006] Artificial nose hair consist two round shaped hair like fiber main structures. They are joined by a centre link in between. To use the artificial nose hair, place the two round shaped fiber main structures in each vestibule. The centre link acting as a supporting and positioning mechanism.

[0007] The two round shaped fiber main structures can be adjusted and trimmed to fit individual's unique vestibule. It ensures a perfect compatibility with the existing physiological nose hair. The artificial nose hair would not cause irritation or oppression to vestibule like the existing fixed shaped nasal filter products do.

[0008] During breathing, air pass through both artificial, physiological nose hair and nasal membrane. This process allows air to be filtered while maintain its warmth and humidity. The purpose of artificial nose hair is to work in conjunction with the existing physiological nose hair, enhancing its function. The nasal filter on the other hand, neglects the existence of physiological nose hair and nasal membrane. This could damage these physiological components.

[0009] The artificial nose hairs' small size results an almost unaltered facial appearance. The advantage of its price due to inexpensive manufacturing allows it to be carried and used in daily life. These characteristics are absented from face mask and respirator products.

[0010] When an artificial nose hair is made from functional fiber, it inherits the beneficial characteristic of the functional fiber.

[0011] When an artificial nose hair is made from washable and reusable fiber, it can work with water or nasal rinse liquid to cleanse the nasal cavity.

[0012] Furthermore, the artificial nose hair can also act as a medicine carrier. This can be done when fiber on the artificial nose hair is treated with medicine prior to usage.

[0013] The broad range of selective manufacture material and process make artificial nose hair useful against germs, infection, anti-allergy, rhinitis and other nasal diseases. Not to mention it can also be used as a medicine carrier for treatments. All these benefits make artificial nose hair a favorable member in the field of medical bionics.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0014] This invention, artificial nose hair, is created to enhance and support the function of existing physiological nose hair. Mainly to filter the air we breathe in while maintain its warmth and humidity. When implement as a medicine carrier, it can assist existing medication process which contribute to one's health.

[0015] The artificial nose hair consists of two parts, two round shaped hair like fiber main structures (FIG. A1) and a centre link (FIG. A2).

[0016] Based on the concept of medical bionics, two round shaped fiber main structures are designed according to human physiological nose hair and medical fiber. The centre link is thin wire shaped connector, which can be manufactured from either plastic or metal. Then, two ends of the centre link are connected to each round shaped fiber main structure via twist or weld method. The end product is a final artificial nose hair. The two round shaped fiber main structures can be adjusted and trimmed. User can also twist the centre link. These characteristics allow the size and shape of an artificial nose hair to be customized according one's liking.

[0017] Before wearing, user needs to trim two round shaped fiber main structures to one's size. The centre link also can be adjusted.

[0018] Then, holding the centre link with thumb and index finger and place each of the round shaped fiber main structure into vestibule. The artificial nose hair will work in conjunction with existing physiological nose hair during wear.

[0019] According to invention description, artificial nose hair provides air filtration function. Unlike artificial nose hair, face mask and respirator can't be placed inside vestibule. Although some nasal filtration products on the market can be placed inside vestibule, but their fixed shaped do not accommodate the irregular shape of humans' vestibule. It's uncomfortable during continuous wear. Furthermore, they neglect the purpose of nasal membrane and damage its physiological function as a result. Not to mention they do not possess medicine carrier characteristic.

[0020] According to invention description, first variation is two hirsute fiber main structures attached to each end of a twisted wire. The twisted wire functions as a linkage between two hirsute fiber main structures, similar to a tube brush. (FIG. 2A)

[0021] According to invention description, one of the improvements is the two main structures, which can be manufactured to a folding shape to accommodate the different shape and size of vestibule. (FIG. 2B)

[0022] According to invention description, one of the improvements is the tube brush shaped main structures can be coil and ranged individually. So it can accommodate the different shape and size of vestibule. (FIG. 2C)

[0023] According to invention description, second variation is a multi-layer structure presentation of the hirsute fiber main structures. Layers of fiber in different density and material overlay each other. A centre link connects all layers together as well as two hirsute fiber main structures. (FIG. 3A)

[0024] According to invention description, third variation is to have each of the two hirsute fiber main structures take shape of roller. It can be manufactured with various type of fiber material in different density. A centre link connects two main hirsute fiber main structures. (FIG. 4A, after rolling) (FIG. 4B, before rolling)

[0025] According to invention description, one of the improvements is to apply medicines that are designed for nasal absorption to the fiber. Or implement the medicine during the manufacturing stage. Then, the artificial nose hair will act as a medicine carrier.

[0026] According to invention description, one of the improvements is to have the two hirsute fiber main structures manufactured with functional fibers, negative ion, nanoengineering and activated carbon fiber for example. As a result, the artificial nose hair will inherit characteristic of the functional fiber used.

[0027] According to invention description, one of the improvements is make the shape and position of hirsute fiber main structure adjustable. Then the artificial nose hair can be used for physical therapy.
