Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] This invention relates to laptop carrier cases, more
particularly, a laptop carrier case which permits a person to
quickly and easily access his/her laptop computer without having to
remove it from the computer carrier case while allowing the person
to carry additional documents and/or items in an attached
accessories holder.
[0002] Currently, conventional laptop computer carrier cases are
constructed so as to house a laptop computer therein. Although
conventional laptop computer carrier cases permit individuals to
carry his/her laptop computer from various places, there are
several disadvantages associated with using such laptop computer
carrier cases.
[0003] First, the use of such conventional laptop computer carrier
cases is time-consuming. For instance, to access the laptop
computer, a user must unzip the carrier case and remove the laptop
computer from the interior of the carrier case, the task of which
takes a predetermined amount of time. In addition, if a user is
traveling through an airport with the laptop computer housed in the
laptop computer carrier case, he/she usually must open the case and
remove the laptop computer from the case to show security that
he/she is only carrying a laptop computer and not a prohibited
item.
[0004] Second, the use of such conventional laptop computer carrier
cases require the user to have access to a large amount of space.
The space requirement is due to the user having to physically
remove the laptop computer from the carrier case, placing the
laptop computer on a surface and moving the carrier case to a
different location, usually the ground. If a person is attempting
to use the laptop computer on an airplane or in a confined space,
it is oftentimes difficult to perform this maneuver. In the
alternative, if there is little to no room, oftentimes a user uses
the laptop computer within the carrier case or on the carrier case,
an act which may cause the laptop computer to overheat.
[0005] Third, oftentimes a person will store documents and/or
items, such as pens, business cards software, disks and the like in
the internal pockets of a carrier case. When the person is in need
of such items, he/she must open the carrier case to access the
items, a task which is both time-consuming and burdensome.
[0006] Thus, a need exists for a laptop computer carrier case which
permits a person to quickly and easily access his/her laptop
computer without having to remove it from the computer carrier case
while allowing the person to carry additional documents and/or
items in an attached accessories holder.

fastening means. A fastening means is located on the internal and
external sides of the strap so as to permit a person to secure the
strap to the laptop computer and secure an accessories holder to
the strap. The strap is wrapped around the laptop computer such
that a portion of the strap wraps around a hinged bottom edge of
the laptop computer and at least two handles extend a predetermined
portion beyond the laptop computer. A security strap is secured to
a back of the accessories holder so as to permit a user to feed a
portion of the strap through an opening for the strap created by
the security strap to prevent theft or detachment of the
accessories holder when transporting the laptop carrier case.
[0013] To use the present invention, the user first positions the
strap around the laptop computer hinged bottom edge and positions
the two handles a predetermined portion beyond the laptop computer.
The strap internal fastening means is then secured to the laptop
computer cover fastening means. A portion of the strap is then
inserted through the opening for the strap. Finally, the

[0082] With reference to FIG. 1, a perspective view of a first
embodiment of a laptop computer carrier case of the present
invention in use is shown. The laptop computer carrier case,
generally 1 of the present invention permits a user to carry a
laptop computer 22 having an accessories holder 4 attached thereto.
An elongated, loop-shaped strap 6 that is generally formed into an
oval shape is provided wherein the strap 6 wraps around the laptop
computer 22 and is secured thereto in such a manner as to yield a
first handle 2 and a second handle 3 which extend past the laptop
computer 22. The strap 6 is secured to a laptop computer cover 5
and the accessories holder 4 is attached to the strap 6. The
accessories holder 4 may be an organizational holder typically used
by students having at least one pocket 16, a larger pocket covered
by a flap 17 having a securing means 18, such as a snap, button or
the like. The pockets 16 may be permanently open or, in the
alternative, closeable via a securing means 18, such as a snap,
button, zipper 19 or the like.
[0083] In FIG. 2, a rear view of a first embodiment of an
accessories holder of the first embodiment of a laptop computer
carrier case of the present invention is shown. A back side of the
accessories holder 10 includes at least one accessories holder
fastening means 7 and at least one security strap 9. The at least
one accessories holder fastening means 7 preferably spans a portion
of a predetermined height of the accessories holder 39 and is
preferably of a hook-type material, but may be a loop-type
material, snaps, buttons or other fastening means. The at least one
security strap 9 preferably spans a portion of a predetermined
length of the accessories holder 40 and is secured to the back side
of the accessories holder 10 in such a manner so as to create an
opening for the strap 8. The strap 6 is secured to the accessories
holder fastening means 7 and includes at least one internal strap
fastening means 12, which is preferably hook-type material but may
also be loop-type material, snaps, buttons or other fastening
means. Because the strap 6 is fed through the opening for the strap
8 created by the security strap 9, when the laptop computer carrier
case 1 of the present invention is carried, a person is not able to
remove the accessories holder 4 from the strap 6, thereby reducing
the risk of theft of the accessories holder 4.
[0084] To use the present invention, the user first positions the
strap 6 around the laptop computer hinged bottom edge 49 and
positions the two handles 2 and 3 a predetermined portion beyond
the laptop computer 22. The strap internal fastening means 12 is

[0085] FIG. 3 shows a perspective view of an elongated strap of the
first embodiment of the laptop computer carrier case of the present
invention. The strap 6 has an external strap side 14 and an
opposing internal strap side 15 wherein the external strap side 14
has at least one external strap fastening means 11 located thereon
and the internal strap side 15 has at least one internal strap
fastening means 12 located thereon. At least one laptop computer
cover fastening means 13 is located on the laptop computer cover 5.
To secure the strap 6 to the laptop computer cover 5, the strap 6
is positioned against the laptop computer 22 such that a portion of
the strap 6 is wrapped around a hinged bottom edge 49 of the laptop
computer and the handles 2 and 3 extend a predetermined distance
beyond the laptop computer 22. Then, the internal strap fastening
means 12, which is preferably loop-type material, is mated with the
laptop computer cover fastening means 13, which is preferably
hook-type material, but may also be loop-type material, snaps,
buttons or other fastening means. Finally, the accessories holder 4
is secured to the external strap side 14 by mating the accessories
holder fastening means 7 to the external strap fastening means 11.
The external strap fastening means 11 is preferably loop-type
material, but may also be hook-type material, snaps, buttons or
other fastening means.
[0086] FIG. 4 shows a perspective plan view of the embodiment of
FIG. 3 wherein a laptop computer is opened. Because the laptop
computer 22 is not encased within a traditional laptop computer
carrier, the laptop computer 22 is readily accessible for use when
using the laptop computer carrier case 1 of the present invention.
In addition, because the laptop computer 22 is secured to the strap
6 via at least one laptop computer cover fastening means 13 located
on the laptop computer cover 5, a laptop computer screen 20 and
laptop computer keyboard 21 are not covered as when using laptop
computer carrier cases that are securable about the laptop computer
screen 20 and laptop computer keyboard 21.
[0087] Next, FIG. 5 shows a perspective view of a second embodiment
of an accessories holder of the first embodiment of the laptop
computer carrier case of the present invention. Similar to the
first embodiment of the accessories holder, the second embodiment
of the accessories holder 4 is securable to a strap 6 secured about
a laptop computer 22. The accessories holder 4 may also include at
least one hook 23.
[0088] With reference to FIG. 6, a perspective view of the second
embodiment of an accessories holder is shown. The second embodiment
of the accessories holder 4 may be in the form of a binder 28
typically used by businessmen and businesswomen. The binder 28 may
include at least one ring 24 for securing documents, a calculator
25, a notepad 26, a pen 28 and other features typically found in an
organizational binder 28.
[0089] In FIG. 7, a rear view of the second embodiment of an
accessories holder is shown. Similar to the first embodiment of the
accessories holder 4, this embodiment includes at least one
accessories holder fastening means 7 and a security strap 9 located
on the back side of the accessories holder 10. This embodiment may
also include a shoulder strap 29, which is removably secured to the
at least one hook 23, and an accessories holder handle 30.
[0090] Next, FIG. 8 shows a side view of the second embodiment of
an accessories holder detached from the elongated strap of the
first embodiment of the laptop computer carrier case of the present
invention. The second embodiment of the accessories holder 4 is
secured to the strap 6 as described above wherein the strap 6 is
inserted into the opening for the strap 8 created by the security
handle 9 and the accessories holder fastening means 7 is mated with
the external strap fastening means 11 located on the external strap
side 14.
[0091] With reference to FIGS. 9 and 10, varying views of a third
embodiment of an accessories holder of the first embodiment of the
laptop computer carrier case of the present invention are shown.
The third embodiment of the accessories holder 4 is secured to the
strap 6 in the same manner as described above. However, rather than
being an organizational holder or binder, the accessories holder 4
is in the form of a camera case to permit a user to easily carry
his/her camera, be it a video camera, digital camera or the like,
with his/her laptop computer 22.
[0092] Next, FIG. 11 shows a perspective view of the first
embodiment of the laptop computer carrier case of the present
invention utilizing a first embodiment of a laptop computer holder.
Similar to the aforementioned embodiments, this embodiment of the
laptop computer carrier case 1 includes an elongated strap 6 having
a removable accessories holder 4 secured thereto. However, rather
than having the strap 6 secured to at least one laptop computer
cover fastening means 13, the strap 6 is secured to a laptop
