Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to a twisting exerciser with
two separate pivot assemblies which are connected to the handlebar
unit and the knee support unit respectively.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] A conventional twisting exerciser generally includes a base
with four legs and a pivot assembly is connected on the base. The
handlebar and the knee support unit are connected to the pivot
assembly. The user puts his or her knees on the knee support unit
and holds the handlebar, and twist his or her body to swing the
handlebar in one direction and the legs in an opposite direction. A
resistance is generated in the pivot assembly and the user has to
overcome the resistance to twist his or her body. However, the
single pivot assembly has to bear all the load of the user's body
and cannot have a longer term of use. Besides, the twisting
exerciser occupies a lot of space which is precious for most of the
users.
[0003] The present invention intends to provide a twisting
exerciser which includes two pivot assemblies for connecting the
handlebar unit and the knee support unit respectively. The legs and
the hands can be pivoted when not in use so as to save the space
for storage.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0004] The present invention relates to a twisting exerciser which
comprises a base having two first legs and two second legs. A first
pivot assembly and a second pivot assembly are respectively
connected to the base. Each of the first and second pivot
assemblies has a pivot and a sleeve which is rotatably connected to
the pivot. A first extension is connected to the sleeve on the
first pivot assembly and is connected to a handlebar unit. A second
extension is connected to the sleeve on the second pivot assembly
and is connected to a knee support unit.
[0005] The present invention will become more obvious from the
following description when taken in connection with the
accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration
only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present
invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0013] Referring to FIGS. 1 to 5, the twisting exerciser of the
present invention comprises a base 10 which has a connection member
11 connected to an underside of a front end thereof so as to be
connected to two first legs 12. Two bolts 13 (only one is shown)
extend through the connection members 11 to fix the two first legs
12. Two second legs 14 are connected to a rear end of the base
10.
[0014] A first pivot assembly 20 is connected to the base 10 and
has a first pivot 21 and a first sleeve 22 which is rotatably
mounted to the first pivot 21. A first extension 224 is connected
to the first sleeve 22 and a handlebar unit 40 is connected to the
first extension 224. The handlebar unit 40 includes a C-shaped
holding member 41 which is fixed on the first extension 224 and a
handlebar 42 is securely connected to the holding member 41 by
extending a bolt 43 through two sides of the open end of the
holding member 41.
[0015] The first pivot 21 includes a first threaded hole 211
defined in an end thereof and a first flange 212 extends radially
outward from the first pivot 21. The first flange 212 is rested on
a top of the base 10 when the first pivot 21 is connected to the
base 10. The first sleeve 22 has a first axial passage 221 in which
the first pivot 21 extends. The first sleeve 22 includes two
recesses 222 defined in a top end and a bottom end thereof and the
inner diameter of the two recesses 222 is larger than the diameter
of the first threaded hole 211. Two first bearings 223 are engaged
with the two recesses 222 and mounted on the first pivot 21. A
first positioning disk 23 is rested on the first bearing 223 in the
recess 222 of the top end of the first sleeve 22 and mounted on the
first pivot 21. A plurality of first protrusions 231 extend from a
top surface of the first positioning disk 23. A first lining 24 is
mounted to the first pivot 22 and has an outer diameter the same as
that of the first sleeve 22. A bottom surface of the first lining
24 is rested on the first positioning disk 23. The first lining 24
has a first hole 241 which is located corresponding to the first
axial passage 221. A plurality of first notches 242 are defined in
the first lining 24 so as to receive the first protrusions 231. A
first washer 25 has a diameter the same as that of the first lining
24 and is rested on the first lining 24. The first washer 25 has a
second hole 251 which is located corresponding to the first hole
241. A first top cap 26 is rested on the first washer 25 and has a
first through hole 261 which is located corresponding to the second
hole 251. A first bolt 27 has a first head 271 and a first shank
272 which extends through the first through hole 261, the second
hole 251, the first hole 241 and is connected with the first
threaded hole 211 of the first pivot 21. The first head 271
compresses the first lining 24 so as to generate resistance when
the first extension 224 and handlebar unit 40 are rotated.
[0016] A second pivot assembly 30 is connected to the base 10 and
has a second pivot 31 and a second sleeve 32 which is rotatably
mounted to the second pivot 31. A second extension 324 is connected
to the second sleeve 32 and includes a plurality of positioning
holes 3241. A knee support unit 50 is connected to one of the
positioning holes 3241 in the second extension 324. Two support
members 54 are connected to the knee support unit 50.
[0017] The second pivot 31 includes a second threaded hole 311
defined in an end thereof and a second flange 312 extends radially
outward from the second pivot 31. The second flange 312 is rested
on a top of the base 10 when the second pivot 31 is connected to
the base 10. The second sleeve 32 has a second axial passage 321 in
which the second pivot 31 extends. The second sleeve 32 includes
two recesses 322 defined in a top end and a bottom end thereof. The
inner diameter of the two recesses 322 is larger than the diameter
of the second threaded hole 311. Two second bearings 323 are
engaged with the two recesses 322 and mounted on the second pivot
31. A second positioning disk 33 is rested on the second bearing
323 in the recess 322 of the top end of the second sleeve 32 and is
mounted on the second pivot 31. A plurality of second protrusions
331 extend from a top surface of the second positioning disk 33. A
second lining 34 is mounted to the second pivot 32 and has an outer
diameter the same as that of the second sleeve 32. A bottom surface
of the second lining 34 is rested on the second positioning disk
33. The second lining 34 has a third hole 341 which is located
corresponding to the second axial passage 321. A plurality of
second notches 342 are defined in the second lining 34 so as to
receive the second protrusions 331. A second washer 35 has a
diameter the same as that of the second lining 34 and is rested on
the second lining 34. The second washer 35 has a fourth hole 351
which is located corresponding to the third hole 341. A second top
cap 36 is rested on the second washer 35 and has a second through
hole 361 which is located corresponding to the fourth hole 351. A
second bolt 37 has a second head 371 and a second shank 372 which
extends through the second through hole 361, the fourth hole 351,
the third hole 341 and is connected with the second threaded hole
311 of the second pivot 31. The second head 371 of the second bolt
37 compresses the second lining 34 so as to generate resistance
when rotating the second extension 324 and the knee support unit
50.
[0018] The knee support unit 50 includes a frame 51 connected to an
underside thereof so as to be mounted on the second extension 324.
A bridge member 53 is connected between the two support members 54
and a bolt 52 extends through the bridge member 53 and is connected
with one of the positioning holes 3241 of the second extension 324.
The position of the knee support unit 50 can be adjusted along the
second extension 324 by connecting the bolt 52 with one of the
positioning holes 3241 as shown in FIG. 6.
[0019] As shown in FIG. 7, the handlebar 42 can be pivoted toward
the first and second pivot assemblies 20, 30 by loosening the
C-shaped holding member 41, and the two first legs 12 can be
pivoted toward the second legs 14 by loosening the bolts 13. By
this way, the twisting exerciser occupies less space.
[0020] While we have shown and described the embodiment in
accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those
skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without
departing from the scope of the present invention.
