Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] 1. Field of the Invention

[0002] The present invention relates to a shield device for an exhaust pipe, and more especially to an improvement of the structure of the shield device for the exhaust pipe that integrates the shield device and the exhaust pipe together firmly, making the shield device less prone to shaking; thereby noise is reduced, life-span is protracted, assembling is easy, and the overall appearance of the device is more attractive.

[0003] 2. Description of the prior art

[0004] An exhaust pipe used on a motorcycle leads exhaust gas out from an engine to a silencer, and then outside of the device. The surface temperature of the exhaust pipe is increased after a period of time although the obstruction of the pipe wall because the temperature of the gas exhausted from the engine may be as high as a several hundred degrees Celsius. As such, it is easy for a user's leg to be burnt accidentally as they dismount from the motorcycle. Furthermore, the exhaust pipe is oxidized for/by the high temperature, which makes a layer of black oxide form on the surface of the exhaust pipe; thus, the appearance of the exhaust pipe is spoiled.

[0005] At present, these problems may be solved by a shield device for an exhaust pipe on motorcycles, as shown in FIG. 1, an inverted U-shaped metal piece 81 having a screw hole 811 is attached onto an exhaust pipe 9, then a shield board 8 is locked onto the inverted U-shaped metal piece 81 by a screw 7.

[0006] But, the process of fixing the shield board 8 onto the inverted U-shaped metal piece 81 by the screw 7 is difficult, and the appearance of the shield device for the exhaust pipe is spoiled because the screw 7 extends outward from the shield board 8. Moreover, the shield board 8 is attached by the screw 7 which means the screw 7 must bear the weight of the shield board 8. However, over time and due to the bumps, the shield board 8 will be loosen and begin to shake relative to the exhaust pipe 9 and generate rattling noises. Thereby, the life-span of the shield board 8 is shortened.

[0007] Hence, the inventor of the present invention believes that these shortcomings above are able to be improved upon and finally suggest the present invention.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0008] An object of the present invention is to provide a shield device for an exhaust pipe, the shield device is easily assembled, its appearance beautiful, and the integration of the shield device and the exhaust pipe is stable. The shield device is less prone to shaking, noise is reduced, and the device's life-span is protracted.

[0009] To achieve the above-mentioned object, the shield device for an exhaust pipe in accordance with the present invention is disclosed. The shield device has at least one socket defining a connecting portion extended crookedly downwards from two ends thereof, the socket is attached onto the exhaust pipe by the connecting portion; a shield board defines a shield piece and at least one plug, a fastening portion extends backwards from the shield piece, the plug is welded on the inside wall of the shield piece, and at least one fastening device is set on the fastening portion of the shield piece, the shield board is attached onto the exhaust pipe by inserting the plug into the socket and fixing the fastening device onto the exhaust pipe.

[0010] To further understand features and technical contents of the present invention please refer to the following detailed description and drawings related the present invention. However, the drawings are only to be used as references and explanations, not to limit the present invention.

[0015] FIG. 5 is a cutaway view of a shield device for an exhaust pipe of the present invention;

[0016] FIG. 6 is an exploded isometric view of a shield device for an exhaust pipe of another embodiment of the present invention;

[0017] FIG. 7 is an exploded isometric view of a shield device for an exhaust pipe of a third embodiment of the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0018] Referring to FIGS. 2 to 5, a shield device for an exhaust pipe of the present invention is shown. The shield device for an exhaust pipe includes a socket 1, a shield board 2, and at least one fastening device 3. The socket 1 is shaped by punching a piece of metal, the socket 1 defines a support portion 11 on the center thereof, and a connecting portion 12 extends crookedly downwards from two ends thereof.

[0019] The shield board 2 defines a shield piece 21 and at least one plug 22. At least one fastening portion 211 extends backwards from the shield piece 21. At least one plug 22 is welded onto the inside wall of the shield piece 21. A plug portion 221 extends crookedly onwards from the plug 22.

[0020] The fastening device 3 defines a C-shaped loop 31 and a fastening piece 32. The C-shaped loop 31 has two free ends 311. The fastening piece 32 passes through the free ends 311 of the C-shaped loop 31. The fastening piece 32 includes a screw and a screw cap.

[0021] The socket 1 is attached onto the exhaust pipe 4 by the connecting portion 12 that is welded onto the exhaust pipe 4. The plug portion 221 of the plug 22 is inserted into the support portion 11 of the socket 1 to attach the shield board 2. The C-shaped loop 31 of the fastening device 3 surrounds the fastening portion 211 of the shield piece 21. Two free ends 311 of the C-shaped loop 31 are attached onto the exhaust pipe 4 by tightening the fastening piece 32.

[0022] Referring to FIG. 6, another embodiment of the present invention is shown. The exhaust pipe 4a defines a thick pipe and two thin pipes. The two thin pipes extend from the thick pipe. A plurality of sockets la is disposed on the thick pipes and the thin pipes of the exhaust pipe 4a respectively. A shield board 2a, whose shape corresponds to the exhaust pipe 4a, is attached onto the exhaust pipe 4a by being inserted onto the plurality of sockets 1a.

[0023] Referring to FIG. 7, a third embodiment of the present invention is shown. The shield board 2b and 2b' are departed/separated, the shield board 2b and the shield board 2b' are connected by connecting reciprocally the socket 1b and the plug 22b'. The plug 22b of the shield board 2b and the plug 22b' of the shield board 2b' are inserted into the socket 1a of the exhaust pipe 4a.

[0024] The shield board 2 of the present invention is attached by inserting the plug 22 into the socket 1. It is not necessary that the screw 7 passes through the shield piece 21 to attach onto the exhaust pipe 4. As such, assembling is easy, and the appearance is more attractive, and no noise is caused by the screw 7 loosening.

[0025] What is disclosed above is only the preferred embodiment of the present invention, and therefore it is intended that the present invention not be limited to the particular embodiment disclosed. It should be understood by those skilled in the art that various equivalent changes may be made depending on the specification and the drawings of present invention without departing from the scope of the present invention.
