BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The present invention relates to a multi-purpose beach accessory, and more particularly, to a fabric item which can be converted for use as a blanket, a towel and a changing cover-up garment.

[0003] The object of the present invention is to provide a combination beach towel/changing cover-up garment that is simple in construction and easy to use. The beach towel/changing cover-up garment is used for practical purposes by surfers, swimmers and other related sports that require changing clothes in public, as well as being a fashion item for use at in Hotels, spas and on cruise liners.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0004] The invention is a combination beach towel/changing cover-up garment comprising a calf-length tubular piece of flexible and absorbent material having opposite end open, with the upper open end fitted with an adjustable elastic drawstring secured by means of a generic toggle lock. The locking device is used to secure said garment around the user's shoulders hereby concealing the user's arms within said garment to offer complete privacy while changing clothes in public.

[0005] Another preferred feature of the invention is that the changing cover-up garment can be worn around the user's waist line or under the arms simply by manually adjusting the tension of said elastic drawstring and lock. In addition, by untying the elastic drawstring and releasing the secured lock allowing said drawstring to completely around the top opening the Beach towel/changing cover-up may also be used as a beach blanket.

[0006] The invention has a rectangular configuration, sized to calf-length when secured around the user's neckline as described above.

[0007] The invention can be made of any flexible material such as liquid-absorbing terry cloth material that effectively dries hair and skin of the user.

[0008] The changing cover-up garment is made in a range of sizes, each size large enough to allow the intended user to change under freely.

[0009] The above objects and advantages will become more apparent from a study of the following description and the accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWINGS

[0010] FIG. 1, is a frontal view of the present invention herein in a flat position. The opposite rear side being a mirror image the present.

[0011] FIG. 2, is a frontal view of an individual wearing the invention in a preferred form.

[0012] FIG. 3, is a frontal view of an individual wearing the invention around the waist line.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0013] FIG. 1 shows, in somewhat schematic frontal view, a garment 20 comprising 2 rectangular sections, preferably made from absorbent and flexible material, such as terry cloth, sewn together along their sides 22 to form the tubular construction of the garment. The lower end portion of the garment is turned under and sewn to form a hem 23 and the upper end portion 24 is turned over and sewn to form the casing channel in which an elastic drawstring is circumferentially mounted therein 25 and which extends outside of the casing channel trough a generic plastic toggle lock 26 to secure said drawstring.

[0014] FIG. 2 is a frontal view of the preferred form of the garment 20 worn on the shoulders by an individual, showing elastic drawstring 25 adjusted by means of a plastic toggle lock 26. The elastic drawstring functions to adjust said garment around the user's shoulders. In this manner the individual is enclosed within the garment -from shoulder to calf-length- for total privacy, and with the arms concealed within said individual can change easily under the garment.

[0015] FIG. 3 shows as an example of how the garment can also be worn, at the individual's waist line. Because of the convenience of the elastic drawstring provided 25 and the toggle lock 26 to adjust the opening, the user is free to place the said garment 20 under his/her arms; in this manner the user is free to walk about and/or gather items.

[0016] Having described a specific preferred construction of the invention with reference to the accompanying drawings, it will be appreciated that various changes and modifications can be effected thereto without departing from the scope or spirit of the invention as defined by the appended descripton.
