Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] As shown in FIG. 1, a normal umbrella having two layers of cover includes an upper cover (1) and a bottom cover (2). This umbrella can release wind from a space between the two covers that prevents the frame of the umbrella from being destroyed. Referring to FIG. 2 to 4, the traditional frame includes an elastic slice (3), which connects with a joint (4) to engage with a connector (6) of a main rib (5). The elastic slice (3) and the main rib (5) are connecting with the upper cover (1) and the bottom cover (2) respectively. The conventional frame has an important drawback that the connecting strength between the joint (4) and the connector (6) is not enough. When strong wind occurs, the elastic slice (4) usually releases from the main rib (5) and the frame of the umbrella is broken.

[0002] The present invention is to provide an improved frame structure of an umbrella having two layers of cover, which provides a simple and firm structure for connecting the two covers. Now, accompanying with the following drawings, the character of the present invention will be described here and after.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0003] FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing a normal umbrella having two layers of cover.

[0004] FIG. 2 is a plan view showing a traditional umbrella having two layers of cover.

[0005] FIG. 3 is an exploded perspective view showing parts of the frame of FIG. 2.

[0006] FIG. 4 is an assembled view of FIG. 3.

[0007] FIG. 5 is an exploded perspective view showing parts of the frame according to the present invention.

[0008] FIG. 6 is an assembled view of FIG. 5.

[0009] FIG. 7 is a cross-sectional plan view of FIG. 6.

[0010] FIG. 8 is a plan view showing an embodiment on a straight umbrella according to the present invention.

[0011] FIG. 9 is a plan view showing an embodiment on a collapsible umbrella according to the present invention.

[0012] FIG. 10 is a cross-sectional plan view showing another positioning direction of an elastic rib of the frame.

[0013] FIG. 11 is an exploded perspective view showing another embodiment of a joint according to the present invention.

[0014] FIG. 12 is a cross-sectional plan view of FIG. 11.

[0015] FIG. 13 is a perspective view showing a modified structure of the elastic rib according to the present invention.

[0016] FIG. 14 is a plan view showing a further embodiment of the elastic rib according to the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0017] Referring to FIG. 5 to 7, the present invention relates to an umbrella having two layers of cover, which includes a main rib (5) and a branch rib (7). The main rib (7) is provided with a connector (8), which has a pair of downward ears (8) to connect with an end of the branch rib (7) by a pin (10). The connector (8) has an upper slot (11) with a lateral pin (12). An elastic rib (13) has its inner end a loop (14) to be placed in the slot (11) meanwhile the pin (12) also penetrates the loop (14). Hence, the elastic rib (13) will be elastic contact against the main rib (5). Under such assembly, the present invention provides the elastic rib (13) for connecting with the upper cover (1) and the main rib (5) for bottom cover (2), wherein the connecting strength will be enough to prevent from releasing therebetween. Moreover, in order to be convenient a separate of two covers, a ring (15) can be provided on the main rib (5) near the connector (8). So, the elastic rib (13) will be kept a small distance from the main rib (5) for convenience in manufacturing or operating.

[0018] It will be understood that the present invention can be applied on a straight umbrella, as in FIG. 8, or on a collapsible umbrella, as in FIG. 9. In the same invented merit, another position direction of the elastic rib (13), such as in FIG. 10 is also available. And, as shown in FIG. 14, the elastic rib (13) has an inner folded end (131) to replace the loop (14) will reach the same effect and is claimed by this application.

[0019] Please refer to FIGS. 11 and 12; the present invention includes a modified connector (8), which has the slot (11) up to the main rib (5). Hence, the elastic rib (13) and the loop (14) both contact with the main rib (5). FIG. 13 shows a modified structure of the elastic rib (13), which is provided with a slider (16) having two side rods (17). The connector (8) is provided with two curve grooves (18) and the pin (12) is ignored. The slider (16) can be received in the slot (11) and the sliders (16) are received in the grooves (18) to obtain a secure connection.
