Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a sizer designed for a garment hanger, and, more particularly, to a sizer attachable to a garment hanger and a method for making the sizer.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] There are many types of sizers designed for garment hangers. FIG. 5 shows a partially perspective view of a garment hanger 50 provided with an existing sizer 55. As can be seen, the garment hanger 50 has a connector 51 formed with a threaded hole 52 for a mental hook 53 to be screwed in and with a pair of protuberances 54 on sides thereof, while the sizer 55 has a pair of openings 56, into which the protuberances 54 may snap so as to connect the sizer 55 to the hanger 50. However, these openings 56 break the continuity of the outer sides of the hollow sizer 55, on which sizes or letters cannot be inscribed in large size. These openings 56 also lead to an unfavorable appearance of the sizer 55.

[0003] Furthermore, if it is required to make a sizer 6 having a ridge-like top, such as one in a shape like a triangular prism, as shown in FIG. 6, a hole is normally bored directly at the top 61 of sizer 6 by a drill 62 so that the hook of a garment hanger may extend through it. During the meantime, however, the ridge-like top 61 will cause the drill 62 to depart from the central axis of the sizer 6 and make the hole to be bored incorrectly. The resulting sizer 6 appears eccentric, as shown in FIG. 6B, after being put round a hook 62 on a garment hanger 65.

[0004] Therefore, there is a need for an improved sizer and an improved method for making the sizer to overcome the flaws of the prior art.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0005] It is an objective of the present invention to provide a sizer which has continuous side faces for words or letters in large size to be inscribed thereon.

[0006] Another objective of the present invention is to provide a sizer which can be surely attached to a garment hanger in addition to the benefit of the continuous sides faces.

[0007] Still another objective of the present invention is to provide a method for making a sizer in which a hole can be bored correctly in such a position that the sizer can be attached to a garment hanger symmetrically about a hook.

[0008] To achieve the aforementioned objectives, the present invention provides a sizer attachable to a garment hanger having a connector designed to be connected with a hook. The connector is formed with a plurality of first retainers on sides thereof. The sizer includes a hollow body having a plurality of sidewalls, a top connecting the sidewalls, and a hole defined in the top for the hook to extend through. The sidewalls and the top define an inner space for receiving the connector of the garment hanger. Furthermore, the hollow body has inner sides formed with second retainers engagable with the first retainers when the connector is entirely received in the inner space, so as to retain the sizer on the garment hanger.

[0009] The present invention also provides a method for making the sizer. The method comprises the steps of:

[0010] preparing a sizer body having a ridge-like top;

[0011] cutting said ridge-like top to form a U-shaped notch having a planar bottom; and

[0012] boring a hole in said planar bottom of said U-shaped notch in a predetermined position.

[0013] Other objectives, advantages and novel features of this invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0014] FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view showing a garment hanger provided with a sizer in accordance with the present invention, with portions of the garment hanger being broken away;

[0015] FIG. 2 is a sectional view of the garment hanger and the sizer of FIG. 1;

[0018] FIG. 5 is an exploded perspective view showing a garment hanger provided with an existing sizer;

[0019] FIG. 6A is a schematic view illustrating how a sizer is made by using a conventional method; and

[0020] FIG. 6B is a schematic view showing a garment hanger provided with a sizer made by using the conventional method.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0021] Referring to FIG. 1, there is shown a partially perspective view of a garment hanger 2 provided with a sizer 1 in accordance with the present invention. The garment hanger 2 includes a connector 22 having a threaded hole 23 defined to be connected with a hook 27, with the sizer 1 being attachable to the hanger 2 outside the connector 22.

[0022] The sizer 1 includes a hollow body 11 to designate the nature, such as the size, of a garment hung on the hanger 2. The hollow body 11 has a plurality of sidewalls 12, a top 13 connecting the sidewalls 12, and a hole 131 defined in the top 13 for the hook 27 to extend through. The sidewalls 12 and the top 13 further define an inner space 14 for receiving the connector 22 of the garment hanger 2.

[0023] In a preferred embodiment, the connector 22 has a predetermined length L1 and a predetermined width W1, and the inner space 14 of the sizer 1 has a length L2 slightly larger than the predetermined length L1 of the connector 22 and a width W2 slightly larger than the predetermined width W1 of the same connector 22. This enables the connector 22 to be received in the inner space 14.

[0024] Additionally, the connector 22 is further formed with a pair of first retainers configured as protuberances 24 on sides thereof, and the hollow body 11 has inner sides formed with a pair of second retainers configured as recesses 16, which can snap onto and be engaged with the first retainers or the protuberances 24 when the connector 22 is entirely received in the inner space 14, as shown in FIG. 2, thereby retaining the sizer 1 on the garment hanger 2 outside the connector 22.

[0025] In the preferred embodiment, the sizer 1 is shaped like a triangle prism having a ridge-like top 13, in which the hole 131 is defined. In fact, the hole 131 can be formed correctly in the ridge-like top 13 by using an inventive method, as shown in FIG. 3, comprising:

[0026] a first step 301 of preparing a sizer body having a ridge-like top;

[0027] a second step 302 of cutting the ridge-like top to form a U-shaped notch having a planar bottom; and

[0028] a third step 303 of boring a hole in the planar bottom of the U-shaped notch in a predetermined position.

[0029] As clearly shown in FIGS. 4A to 4C, the inventive sizer 1 can be made by preparing a sizer body 17 having a ridge-like top 18, followed by cutting the ridge-like top 18 to form a U-shaped notch 19 having a planar bottom 191. A hole 192 is then bored in the planar bottom 191 of the U-shaped notch 19 in a predetermined position, particularly at the center of the planar bottom 191.

[0030] As a result, the sizer 1 can be attached to the garment hanger 2 symmetrically about the hook 27 and hence gives a favorable impression to a person. The inventive method also provides a way by which the hole can be bored in the ridge-like top quickly as well as correctly.

[0031] From the foregoing, it is apparent that the present invention has the following advantages:

[0032] 1. It provides the inventive sizer with continuous side faces for sizes or letters in large size to be inscribed thereon.

[0033] 2. The inventive sizer can be surely attached to the garment hanger in addition to the benefit of the continuous sides faces.

[0034] 3. With the method of the present invention, the hole can be bored so correctly in the ridge-like top that the sizer can be attached to the garment hanger symmetrically about the hook and hence gives a favorable impression to a person.

[0035] 4. And also with the method of the present invention, the hole can be bored in the ridge-like top quickly as well as correctly.

[0036] Although embodiments together with structures and functions of the present invention have been described in detail, many modifications and variations may be made from the teachings disclosed hereinabove. For example, the first retainers may be configured as recesses and the second retainers may, correspondingly, configured as protuberances. Therefore, it should be understood by those skilled in the art that any modification and variation equivalent to the spirit of the present invention be regarded to fall into the scope coved by the appended claims.
