Wall Hitch

Abstract

The idea for the "Wall Hitch" was conceived shortly after purchasing a hitch-style bike rack as a solution to a storage problem. Traditionally, after use, one would have to come up with space to store the bike, and the bike rack, separately. The "Wall Hitch" solves this problem by serving the dual purpose of allowing the bike rack to be stored in an efficient & enduring manner and, at the same time, be utilized for storing bikes. The "Wall Hitch" is constructed of steel, or some other durable metal, and is easy to mount to a wall using screws.

Claims

1. The "Wall Hitch" is a unique design that is not currently available in the marketplace. It is a mount, constructed of steel, which can be used for hanging/storing hitch style bike racks. It is a marketable idea which can be mass produced and sold, for a profit, at a fair & reasonable price. As such, it is an idea that deserves protection via a nonprovisional patent.
Description

[0001] The "Wall Hitch" is a mount used to hang a hitch style bike rack (size may vary) on a wall. It can be produced on an assembly line using steel or some other durable metal. It is unique in that there are no products in the market that serve as a mount for hitch style bike racks. The "Wall Hitch" has a steel plate (15/8''.times.61/8'') with three screw holes, which can be fastened to a wall using a stud as an anchor. Extending perpendicular five inches from the base of the mounting plate is the hitch, used as the insert for the bike rack. Once the bike rack is inserted, a safety screw can be inserted to further secure the rack. The "Wall Hitch" is a unique mounting option for hitch style bike racks and, once secured, can be used to store bikes.

Specifications are broken down as follows: [0003] A) Screw Holes; use deck screws to mount into stud. [0004] B) Insert for hitch style bike rack. Size may vary, but typically come in 11/4'' or 2'' sizes. [0005] C) Added support for the bike rack receptacle.

[0006] Page 6 of 6 contains a side view sketch of the "Wall Hitch," showing the hitch (bike rack receptacle) to extend outward 5'' from the base, with additional support and a safety screw hole. [0007] A) Insert receptacle for bike rack. Extends outward 5'' from the mount base. [0008] B) Hole for safety screw. Once the rack is inserted, the safety screw can be inserted to prevent rack from sliding out. The safety screw is standard equipment with the bike rack. [0009] C) Added support for the bike rack receptacle.
