Finger attached cigarette holder
Abstract
A finger attached cigarette holder has a finger ring for
attaching to a person's finger and a cigarette ring sized to hold a
cigarette therein. The cigarette ring is affixedly attached to the
finger ring so that a person wearing the finger ring and having the
cigarette attached in the cigarette ring can smoke the cigarette
while using both hands. Both the cigarette ring and the finger ring
are partial circles made of a bendable material to allow
adjustments for fitting different fingers or cigarettes. The
cigarette ring is fixedly attached to the finger ring with its
center axis 90 degrees from the center axis of the finger ring.

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention is directed towards a finger attached
cigarette holder which allows a person wearing the cigarette holder
having a cigarette attached thereto to smoke the cigarette while
using both hands, such as when driving in a vehicle.
[0002] Various types of cigarette holders are known in the prior
art for holding a cigarette holder and in some cases incorporating
a cigarette smoke filter into the cigarette holder or even
incorporating an ashtray into the cigarette holder. Typically, a
cigarette holder is tubular shaped and fits over one end of the
cigarette or over the filter already incorporated into the
cigarette and is a mouthpiece with a passageway for smoking the
cigarette through. However, many cigarette smokers smoke while
engaged in other occupations and typically lay the cigarette down
momentarily in an ashtray or on any available surface of support
while using their hands. Sometimes the cigarette is not retrieved
if the smoker becomes preoccupied with what he is doing. This
practice represents a danger of burning or marring or damaging the
supporting surface where the cigarette has been lain and also can
represent a fire hazard. The practice of laying down and retrieving
cigarettes while smoking reduces the efficiency of the smoker in
performing other jobs.
[0003] Of the many cigarette holders in the prior art, most merely
securely receive one end of a cigarette and form an extension of
the cigarette. The unsupported or lit end of the cigarette is fully
exposed and represents a hazard, such as when smoking in bed. The
dangers of an exposed lit cigarette comes from depositing the lit
cigarette on a surface or on area which permits the cigarette to
ignite combustible materials. Sometimes a lit cigarette is
inadvertently placed on a table, for example, or falls off an
ashtray. Aside from the damage which is caused to the table, a fire
may result in further and greater damage to the property and injury
to life. Therefore, it becomes desirable for a cigarette holder
which holds the cigarette to the smoker's hand or fingers where it
is convenient and accessible while smoking and which, at the same
time, does not occupy the fingers or require conscientious use
thereof to hold the cigarette.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0004] A finger attached cigarette holder has a finger ring for
attaching to a person's finger and a cigarette ring sized to hold a
cigarette therein.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0005] Other objects, features, and advantages of the present
invention will be apparent from the written description and the
drawings in which:
[0006] FIG. 1 is a partial perspective of a person using a finger
attached cigarette holder in accordance with the present invention
while sitting in a vehicle;
[0007] FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the cigarette holder in
accordance with the present invention attached to a cigarette
filter; and
[0008] FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the cigarette holder in
accordance with the present invention.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0009] Referring to FIGS. 1-3 of the drawings, a cigarette holder
10 is illustrated attached to a cigarette 11 having a cigarette
filter 12. The cigarette holder 10 has a finger ring attachment 13
and a cigarette ring 14 for attaching to the filter 12 of a
cigarette 11. The finger ring 13 forms a partial circle with an
open area 15 allowing the bendable metal partial ring 16 to be bent
to adjust for a particular user's fingers. The cigarette ring 14 is
fixedly attached to the finger ring 13 along a center axis 90
degrees from the center axis of the finger ring 13 and has an open
area 17 which allows a cigarette ring or holding clip 14 to be
adjusted for tightening onto the cigarette 11.
[0010] As seen in FIG. 1, a smoker 20 is in a vehicle 21 driving
the vehicle with one or both hands 22 on the steering wheel 23. The
smoker has the finger attached cigarette holder 10 attached to the
finger 24 of one hand 25 and has a lit cigarette 11 mounted in the
cigarette ring 14. As seen from this view, the individual smoker 20
is driving a vehicle while smoking a cigarette 11 and, without it
interfering with the driving, the driver is able to place both
hands on the steering wheel 23 or to use either hand for other
purposes as needed.
[0011] It should be clear at this time that a finger attached
cigarette holder has been provided which advantageously attaches
like a ring to an individual's finger, such as toward the end of
the index finger. The lit cigarette does not interfere with a
smoker doing something else or require the smoker to place the
cigarette down on a surface or an ashtray while he performs another
function. This acts as a safety feature for a smoker. The finger
attached cigarette holder is made of a bendable or mallable
material, such as a copper alloy, to allow both the finger ring and
the cigarette ring to be adjusted and sized.
[0012] It should be clear at this point that a filter attached
cigarette holder has been provided which advantageously allows a
smoker wearing a finger ring having a cigarette attached thereto to
smoke the cigarette while using both hands. However, the present
invention is not to be construed as limited to the forms
hereindisclosed which are to be considered illustrative rather than
restrictive.
