Abstract
A device includes a hook having a first end and a second end.
The hook has prongs connected to the first end. A rod is connected
to the hook. A carousel is rotatably connected to the rod. The
carousel has many holding portions and a center-hole. The hook
connects to a peg board.

Claims
1. An apparatus comprising: a hook having a first end and a second
end, the hook having a plurality of prongs coupled to the first
end; a rod coupled to the hook; a carousel rotatably coupled to the
rod, the carousel having a plurality of holding portions and a
center-hole, wherein said hook to couple to a peg board.
2. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a carousel location
adjustment coupler, wherein the carousel location adjustment
coupler to adjust the location of the carousel on the rod.
3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the plurality of holding
portions to hold a plurality of tools.
4. The apparatus of claim 1, the plurality of holding portions are
through-holes.
5. The apparatus of claim 4, wherein the through-holes are each one
of a same diameter, and varying diameters.
6. The apparatus of claim 1, the plurality of holding portions each
including a stem, wherein the stem to hold sockets.
7. The apparatus of claim 1, the plurality of holding portions each
having a hooked portion, the hooked portion to hold tools having a
closed loop end.
8. The apparatus of claim 1, the plurality of holding portions each
having a plurality of stem pairs, wherein each of the plurality of
stem pairs to hold a tool between a stem pair.
9. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the rod is perpendicular to
the hook.
10. The apparatus of claim 1, the carousel is circular shaped,
wherein the carousel to rotate on the rod.
11. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising: a swing-arm
coupler having a length, the swing-arm coupler coupled to the hook
and the rod, the swing-arm coupler, wherein the rod is rotatably
coupled to the swing-arm coupler.
12. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the plurality of holding
portions each being oval shaped.
13. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising: another carousel
coupled to the rod, the rod having a plurality of through-holes,
wherein a height adjustment device adjusts the height of each
carousel on the rod.
14. A tool organizer comprising: a peg board hook coupled to a rod,
the rod is perpendicular to the peg board hook, a tool holder
coupled to the rod, the tool holder having a plurality of tool
holding portions to hold a plurality of tools, wherein the tool
holder to revolve in relation to the rod.
15. The tool organizer of claim 14, wherein the tool holder is
height adjustable.
16. The tool organizer of claim 14, further comprising: a swing-arm
coupler coupled to the peg board hook and the rod, the swing-arm
coupler, wherein the rod is rotatably coupled to the swing-arm
coupler.
17. The tool organizer of claim 16, further comprising: another
swing-arm coupler coupled to another rod.
18. A peg board system comprising: a peg board having a plurality
of through-holes; at least one tool organizer removably coupled to
the peg board, the at least one tool organizer including: a hook
coupled to a rod, the hook having a plurality of prongs, and a tool
holder coupled to the rod, the tool holder to hold a plurality of
tools, the tool holder to rotate on the rod, wherein the prongs fit
within the through-holes.
19. The peg board system of claim 18, wherein the tool holder is
height adjustable.
20. The peg board system of claim 18, further comprising: a
swing-arm coupler coupled to the hook and the rod, wherein the rod
is rotatably coupled to the swing-arm coupler.
21. The peg board system of claim 18, further comprising: at least
two swing-arm couplers coupled to the hook, wherein the rod is
rotatably coupled to one of the at least two swing-arm couplers,
and another rod is rotatably coupled to another of the at least two
swing-arm couplers.
22. A tool holding apparatus comprising: a hook having a first
swing-arm coupler and a second swing-arm coupler, the hook having a
plurality of prongs, a first rod rotatably coupled to the first
swing-arm coupler, a second rod rotatably coupled to the second
swing-arm coupler, a first tool organizer rotatably coupled to the
first rod, a second tool organizer rotatably coupled to the second
rod, wherein each tool organizer to hold a plurality of tools.
23. The tool holding apparatus of claim 22, wherein each tool
organizer is height adjustable.
24. The tool holding apparatus of claim 22, wherein the first tool
organizer and the second tool organizer each include a
carousel.
25. The tool holding apparatus of claim 24, wherein each carousel
includes a plurality of through-holes.
26. The tool holding apparatus of claim 24, wherein each carousel
includes a plurality of cylindrical tool holders.
27. The tool holding apparatus of claim 24, wherein each carousel
includes a plurality of tool holding hooks.
Description
BACKGROUND

[0002] The embodiments relate to tool organizers, and more
particularly to rotational peg board tool organizers.
[0003] 2. Description of the Related Art
[0004] Peg boards and tool organizers have existed for quite some
time. Peg boards use hooks to typically hang items on a board,
which has holes throughout the board. The hooks are placed into the
holes to support the hook and items to be held. One problem with
current peg board tool organizers is that the organizers still use
up a lot of space.
[0005] One example of a peg board tool organizer is U.S. Pat. No.
5,743,416. This patent organizes tools in a linear fashion. Another
example of a tool organizer is U.S. Pat. No. 5,173,999. This patent
can hold many tools with a looped end, such as wrenches, in a
linear fashion. Yet another example of a peg board tool organizer
can be seen at http://www.motorpeg.com. This web site shows a tool
organizer that is linearly connected to a peg board.
[0006] All of these tool organizers, by being linearly connected to
a board or wall mounted surface, consume a large footprint.
SUMMARY
[0007] One embodiment includes a hook having a first end and a
second end. The hook has prongs connected to the first end. A rod
is connected to the hook. A carousel is rotatably connected to the
rod. The carousel has holding portions and a center-hole. The hook
is such that it can connect to a peg board.
[0008] Another embodiment includes a tool organizer that includes a
peg board hook connected to a rod. The rod is perpendicular to the
peg board hook. A tool holder is connected to the rod. The tool
holder has tool holding portions to hold tools. The tool holder to
revolve in relation to the rod.
[0009] Yet another embodiment includes a peg board system including
a peg board having through-holes. At least one tool organizer is
removably connected to the peg board. The at least one tool
organizer includes a hook connected to a rod. The hook has prongs.
A tool organizer is connected to the rod. The tool organizer holds
a plurality of tools. The tool organizer rotates on the rod. The
prongs fit within the through-holes.
[0010] Still another embodiment includes a tool holding apparatus
including a hook having a first swing-arm coupler and a second
swing-arm coupler. The hook has prongs. A first rod is rotatably
connected to the first swing-arm coupler. A second rod is rotatably
connected to the second swing-arm coupler. A first tool organizer
is rotatably connected to the first rod. A second tool organizer is
rotatably connected to the second rod. Each tool organizer to hold
a plurality of tools.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0021] The embodiments generally relate to peg board rotational
tool or item organizers. Referring to the figures, exemplary
embodiments of the invention will now be described. The exemplary
embodiments are provided to illustrate the invention and should not
be construed as limiting the scope of the invention.
[0022] It should be noted that the tools illustrated in the figures
are not part of the invention and that those illustrated tools are
simply examples for illustration only. Therefore, other tools/items
that are suitable to be placed on tool holding portions can benefit
from the embodiments.
[0023] FIG. 1 illustrates an embodiment of a peg board rotatable
tool holder. Tool holder 100 includes hook 105 having a first end
and a second end. Hook 105 has at least two prongs located at the
first end. Rod 110 is coupled to the hook. In one embodiment hook
105 and rod 110 are formed in one piece by known techniques, such
as molding, welding the two together, bending, etc. In one
embodiment, hook 105 and rod 110 are made of a metal or metal
alloy. In another embodiment, hook 105 and rod 110 are made of
hardened plastic, or hardened plastic over a metal or metal alloy,
metal or metal alloy coated with a protective coating (e.g.,
rubber, vinyl, etc.), etc.
[0024] Tool holder 100 also includes carousel 125 that is rotatably
coupled to rod 110. Carousel 125 can rotate on rod 110 either in
clockwise or counterclockwise direction. Carousel 125 has many
tool/item holding portions 120 and a center-hole. Hook 105 is such
that it is easily connected to a peg board, such as peg board 140.
In one embodiment, holding portions 120 have a bent portion to make
it more difficult for a tool/item to dislodge from a holding
portion 120. Holding portions 120 have a length that is
proportional to the length of the rod portion that is perpendicular
to peg board 140. This allows carousel 125 room to rotate on the
second end of rod 110. As illustrated, holding portions 120 are
suitable to hold tools having a loop to fit over holding portion
120. As illustrated, carousel 125 is circular shaped.
[0025] Tool holder 100 further includes a carousel location
adjustment coupler (not illustrated in FIG. 1). The carousel
location adjustment coupler adjusts position of carousel 125 on rod
110. That is, the carousel location adjustment coupler can adjust
the height of carousel 125. In one embodiment, the lower portion of
rod 110 is threaded and the carousel location adjustment coupler is
a nut or a pair of nuts that thread onto the threaded portion. It
should be noted that other known adjustment means can be used to
adjust carousel 100 on rod 110, such as that illustrated in FIG.
9.
[0026] FIG. 2 illustrates another embodiment of a peg board tool
holder. Peg board tool holder 200 includes rod 210 connected to
hook 105. Rod 210 includes support portion 230 to support carousel
225. Tool holders 220 are coupled to carousel 225 and are distanced
from a center portion of carousel 225 by extensions. Holding
portions 220 have through holes. The diameter of the through holes
can be the same or different sizes. For example, a diameter of the
through hole can be_inch, _inch, 1 inch, etc. Depending on the
needed size, for example large or small screw drivers, the through
holes can be modified as desired. Tool holders 220 can have a body
length, such as 1 inch, 2 inches, 3 inches, etc. The body length
can be modified depending on the type of tool desired to be held.
Tool holder 220 can be made of a metal, a metal alloy, hardened
plastic, etc. Carousel 225 rotates on support portion 230 either in
clockwise or counterclockwise direction. Rod 210 is perpendicular
to hook 105.
[0027] FIG. 3 illustrates another embodiment of a peg board tool
holder. Tool holder 300 includes rod 305 coupled to hook 105. As
illustrated, rod 305 is perpendicular to hook 105. Rod 305 has
support portion 320 that distances carousel 310 from hook 105 and
peg board 140. Carousel 310 rotates on support portion 320. In one
embodiment, support portion 320 acts as an axle and carousel 310
acts as a wheel coupled to support portion 320. Any known means of
connecting support portion 320 to carousel 310 can be
implemented.
[0028] Carousel 310 includes a plurality of through holes 315. In
one embodiment, through holes 315 are the same diameter. In another
embodiment, through holes 315 are varying diameters. Tools, such as
allen wrenches of varying diameter are suitable to be placed into
through holes 315 on carousel 310. The number of through holes 315
can vary, depending on the size of through holes 315, such as 6, 8,
10, 12, etc. Carousel 310 can be made of a metal, a metal alloy,
wood, hardened plastic, metal or metal alloy coated with a
protective coating (e.g., rubber, vinyl, etc.), etc.
[0029] FIG. 4 illustrates yet another embodiment of a peg board
tool holder. Tool holder 400 includes rod 405 coupled to hook 105.
Support portion 420 is coupled to carousel 125. Extension arms 425
are coupled to tool holders 220. Extension arms 425 can vary in
length as desired. For example, extension arms 425 can be 1 inch, 2
inches, etc. The diameter of extension arms 425 can also vary
depending on support and strength necessary, depending on the type
of tools desired to be held in tool holders 220.
[0030] Tool holders 220 have through holes. The diameter of the
through holes can be the same or different sizes. For example, a
diameter of the through hole can be_inch, _inch, 1 inch, etc.
Depending on the needed size, for example large or small screw
drivers, large or small pliers, etc., the through holes can be
modified as desired. Tool holders 220 can have a body length, such
as 1 inch, 2 inches, 3 inches, etc. The body length can be modified
depending on the type of tool/item desired to be held. Tool holder
220 can be made of a metal, a metal alloy, hardened plastic, metal
or metal alloy coated with a protective coating (e.g., rubber,
vinyl, etc.), etc. Carousel 125 rotates on support portion 420
either in clockwise or counterclockwise direction. Support portion
420 is perpendicular to hook 105. Carousel 125 rotates on support
portion 420 either in clockwise or counterclockwise direction.
[0031] Tool holder 400 further includes a carousel location
adjustment coupler (not illustrated in FIG. 4). The carousel
location adjustment coupler adjusts position of carousel 125 on
support portion 420 of rod 405. That is, the carousel location
adjustment coupler adjusts the height of carousel 125. In one
embodiment, support portion 420 is threaded and the carousel
location adjustment coupler is a nut or a pair of nuts that thread
onto the threaded portion. It should be noted that other known
adjustment means can be used to adjust carousel 125 on rod 405.
[0032] FIG. 5 illustrates yet another embodiment of a peg board
tool holder. Tool holder 500 includes rod 405 coupled to hook 105.
The bottom end of rod 405 is coupled to carousel 505. Carousel 505
includes a plurality of through holes 520. Coupled to the bottom of
carousel 505 and directly below each through hole 520 are holding
portions 510.
[0033] The diameter of through holes 520 can be the same or
different sizes. For example, a diameter of the through hole can
be_inch, _inch, 1 inch, etc. Depending on the needed size, for
example large or small screw drivers, large or small allen
wrenches, etc., the through holes can be modified as desired.
[0034] Holding portions 510 can have a length, such as 1 inch, 2
inches, 3 inches, etc. The length can be modified depending on the
type of tool/item desired to be held. Holding portions 510 include
a ring coupled to an end of each holding portion 510. In one
embodiment, the ring is the same diameter of through hole 520. In
another embodiment, the ring is a smaller diameter than through
holes 520.
[0035] Carousel 505 can be made of a metal, a metal alloy, hardened
plastic, metal or metal alloy coated with a protective coating
(e.g., rubber, vinyl, etc.), etc. Carousel 505 rotates on the lower
portion of rod 405 either in clockwise or counterclockwise
direction. The lower portion of rod 405 is perpendicular to hook
105. Carousel 505 rotates on rod 405 either in clockwise or
counterclockwise direction.
[0036] Tool holder 500 further includes a carousel location
adjustment coupler (not illustrated in FIG. 5). The carousel
location adjustment coupler adjusts position of carousel 505 on rod
405 by supporting carousel 505. That is, the carousel location
adjustment coupler can adjust the height of carousel 505. In one
embodiment, the lower portion of rod 405 is threaded and the
carousel location adjustment coupler is a nut or a pair of nuts
that thread onto the threaded portion. It should be noted that
other known adjustment means can be used to adjust carousel 505 on
rod 405.
[0037] FIG. 6 illustrates still another embodiment of a peg board
tool holder. Peg board tool holder 600 includes tool holder 610,
rod 210 and support portion 230. Tool holder 610 is oval shaped to
hold a tool inserted through the top of tool holder 610. As
illustrated, the carousel of peg board tool holder 600 includes
hooks on its outer circumference to hold other tools or objects. In
the center of the carousel of peg board tool holder 600 is a
cylindrical coupler having a diameter slightly larger than the
circumference of support portion 230. The cylindrical coupler
couples the carousel to support portion 230 allowing the carousel
to rotate in either clockwise or counterclockwise directions.
[0038] FIG. 7 illustrates rotational rod system 700 including
swing-arm coupler 710. Rod 705 can be any suitable length for use
in the aforementioned embodiments. Swing arm coupler 710 is
cylindrical shaped having a through-hole on the top portion. A
swing arm portion of rod 705 is inserted through the through hole
of swing arm coupler 710. The diameter of the through hole of swing
arm coupler 710 is larger than the circumference of rod 705
allowing rod 705 to rotate clockwise or counter-clockwise. By
rotating rod 705, any peg board tool holder embodiment having a
carousel with tool holders can be rotated for convenience. This
rotation of peg board tool holders improves organization of tools
and saves space allowing more tools to be placed on a peg board in
a smaller area.
[0039] FIG. 8 illustrates rotational rod system 800 including at
least two swing-arm couplers 710. Rod 705 can be any suitable
length for use in the aforementioned embodiments. Swing arm
couplers 710 are cylindrical shaped having a through-hole on their
top portion. A swing arm portion of rod 705 is inserted through the
through hole of swing arm couplers 710. The diameter of the through
hole of swing arm couplers 710 are larger than the circumference of
rod 705 allowing rod 705 to rotate clockwise or counter-clockwise
when inserted in either swing arm coupler 710. By rotating rod 705,
any peg board tool holder embodiment having a carousel with tool
holders can be rotated for convenience. With two peg board tool
holder embodiments inserted in each swing arm coupler 710, each peg
board tool holder can be rotated to and from one another. This
rotation of peg board tool holders improves organization of tools
and saves space allowing more tools to be placed on a peg board in
a smaller area. Also, this makes ease of tool retrieval and
replacement.
[0040] As illustrated rotational rod system 800 illustrates swing
arm couplers coupled side by side. It should be noted that other
embodiments can have a coupling arm that has a length and couples
to each swing arm holder 710. This coupling arm separates the two
swing arm couplers 710 by a distance of its length. The separation
of the rods 705 gives an increase of separation when each peg board
tool holder is rotated towards one another. It should also be noted
that other embodiments can have more than two swing arm couplers
710 each having a coupling arm separating adjacent pairs of peg
board tool holders.
[0041] FIG. 9 illustrates peg board tool holder system 900. Peg
board tool holder system 900 includes rod 905, height adjustment
through holes 915, at least two carousels 910 and one or more
height adjustment stops 920. In one embodiment height adjustment
stop is threaded and threads into height adjustment through holes
915. In other embodiments, height adjustment stop 920 is a threaded
bolt that is coupled with a nut. Other embodiments use known means
for coupling height adjustment stop 920 in height adjustment
through holes 915.
[0042] In one embodiment rod 905 has a flange at its lower end that
stops the lower carousel 910. Each carousel 910 has a center
through hole having a diameter slightly larger than the
circumference of rod 905 allowing each carousel 910 to rotate
around rod 905 in either clockwise or counter-clockwise
directions.
[0043] Each carousel 910 can have its height adjusted on rod 905
allowing for a desired separation of carousels 910. Each carousel
910 includes a plurality of tool holders similarly to any of the
aforementioned embodiments. It should be noted while two carousels
910 are illustrated, more than two carousels can be placed on rod
905. Rod 905 can vary in length depending on the number of tool
holding carousels desired to be placed together. In one embodiment,
rod 905 can be placed in swing arm coupler 710. In another
embodiment, multiple peg board tool holding systems 900 are placed
in multiple swing arm couplers 710. This allows for maximum use of
space on a peg board to hold a plurality of tools.
[0044] In another embodiment, the tool holding portions on a
carousel includes a stem to hold varying sized sockets (not
illustrated). In another embodiment tool holding portions have
adjacent stems forming a v-shaped tool holder. Tools are placed
between the adjacent stems.
[0045] It should be noted that any combination of the above
embodiments can be made allowing a desired configuration for
organizing tools on a peg board 140. The length, diameter, size,
etc. of the elements of the above embodiments can be made to suit
any of the above embodiments for different sized uses (e.g., larger
or smaller tools, thicker or thinner peg boards, peg boards made of
steel or press board, etc.). In other embodiments the carousels can
have cut outs on opposite sides creating two or more sectors (not
illustrated).

shown in the accompanying drawings, it is to be understood that
such embodiments are merely illustrative of and not restrictive on
the broad invention, and that this invention not be limited to the
specific constructions and arrangements shown and described, since
various other modifications may occur to those ordinarily skilled
