Description

[0001] The present invention relates to an inset gripping device for doors, drawers, leaves and the like.

[0002] It is known in the product sector relating to handles for doors and the like that there exists the need to provide inset gripping means such as handles and the like able to produce opening/closing of a sliding leaf, door, drawer or the like.

[0003] It is also known that the inset handles of the known type have certain drawbacks arising from the structural complexity and the number of component parts which make both the production and the assembly thereof within the thickness of the door difficult.

[0004] In addition to this, the inset handles of the known type are standardized only to a limited degree in relation to the different types which must be manufactured, equipped with key, pommel, screw and the like for operating the latch of the leaf.

[0005] The technical problem which is posed, therefore, is that of providing an inset gripping device which can be inserted within the thickness of sliding walls, doors, drawers and the like and which is composed of a limited number of component parts which are highly standardized so as to realise all the different types of latch operating device.

[0006] In connection with this problem it is also required that this device should have small dimensions, be easy and inexpensive to realise and be able to be inserted with an optimum aesthetic effect in furnishing components.

[0007] These results are achieved according to the present invention by an inset gripping device in particular for sliding leaves, comprising a pair of frames extending in a longitudinal direction and provided with an associated opening extending inside them over a partial section of the longitudinal length of the said frame, the parallel longitudinal sides of said frame being connected by at least one cross-piece extending in the transverse direction, said cross-piece comprising at least one seat for receiving corresponding screws for relative fixing of the frames and at least one central seat for insertion of the means for joining a cover plate for frontal closing of the frame.

[0008] Further details may be obtained from the following description of a non-limiting example of embodiment of the subject of the present invention provided with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:

[0009] FIG. 1 shows a front view of the gripping device according to the present invention inserted within the thickness of a sliding leaf;

[0010] FIG. 2 is an exploded view of a first embodiment of the gripping device according to the present invention;

[0011] FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the piece for joining together the cover plate and the frame of the gripping device according to the invention;

[0012] FIG. 4 is a front view of the gripping device according to the present invention;

[0013] FIG. 5 is a cross-section along the plane indicated by V-V in FIG. 4; and

[0014] FIG. 6 is a front view of a further embodiment of the gripping device according to the present invention.

[0015] As shown, the inset gripping device according to the present invention substantially consists of a pair of frames 10 extending in a longitudinal direction X-X and provided with an associated opening 11 extending internally over a partial section of the longitudinal length of the said frame.

[0016] The two frames 10 form a mirror arrangement so as to allow joining together thereof by means of insertion inside the opposite sides 1a and 1b of a sliding leaf 1 against which they come into frontal contact with a perimetral rim 10a, as will emerge more clearly below. Said opening 11 has, passing through it, a pair of cross-pieces 20 extending in the transverse direction Y-Y and with the opposite ends integral with the two longitudinal parallel sides of the frame 10.

[0017] The cross-pieces 20 have two seats 21 and 22 provided with an associated flared zone 21a, 22a for receiving the head 23a of corresponding screws 23 for relative fixing of the frames 10.

[0018] According to a preferred embodiment, said seats 21, 22 are designed symmetrically so as to allow the insertion of the screws on the opposite sides of the gripping device and improve the centring and the relative alignment.

[0019] The seat for a finishing cover plate 30 of the gripping device is provided in the thickness of the frame 10; said cover plate 30 envisages a projection 31 extending outwards from one of the end sides so as to define in a unique manner the direction of mounting of the said plate on the frame 10 in turn provided with a corresponding seat 14 arranged on one of the two short sides of the opening 11.

[0020] The inner side of the cover plate 30 is provided with a relief 32 which extends in the longitudinal direction and which, in longitudinal positions corresponding to the positions of the cross-pieces 20, has an undercut seat 33 which is open laterally, for insertion and seating of the T-shaped head 41 of the piece 40 for joining the cover plate 30 to the cross-piece 20.

[0021] In greater detail, said joining piece has resilient lugs 42 with hook-shaped ends 42a suitable for insertion and engagement inside a corresponding central seat 25 of the associated cross-piece 20.

[0022] Assembly of the gripping device is performed in the following sequence: [0023] after providing the through-seat 1c in the thickness of the door 1 and [0024] a pair of frames 10; [0025] the two frames are frontally inserted inside the respective opening of the seat 1c; [0026] the screws 23 are inserted inside the respective seats 21, 22, said screws being screwed in so as to cause joining together of the two frames and the stable and precise inset arrangement of the latter against the door; [0027] the cover plate 30 is inserted inside the associated seat being pressed frontally so as to cause the engagement of the resilient lugs 42 in the cross-piece 20 via the central opening 25 thereof.

[0028] In the example of embodiment shown above, the frame 10 of the gripping device has a part 15 of its longitudinal extension provided with a seat 15a suitable for receiving the means 50 for operating the latch 52 incorporated inside the said gripping device. In the example shown said-operating means consist of a pommel 51 in the form of a parallelepiped with a part 51a for insertion in the gripping device, having a cylindrical shape; it is envisaged, however, that said operating means may be in the form of a key or the like and consequently the shape of the seat 15a for receiving them, which is cylindrical in FIG. 2, will be realized in a manner corresponding to the shape of the operating means.

[0029] As shown in FIG. 6, it is also possible to reduce the longitudinal extension of the frame 110 of the gripping device for those applications where the latch is not envisaged.

[0030] It can therefore be seen how the gripping device according to the invention is formed by a small number of parts which are highly standardized and are easy and inexpensive to produce and assemble, it being possible, however, to adapt with small modifications the gripping device to the various constructional forms of the latch operating means.
