Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] 1. Field of the Invention
[0002] The present invention relates to a compact device, and more
particularly to a compact device including a base receptacle and an
upper cover each having an inner member and an outer member for
forming a decorative structure.
[0003] 2. Description of the Prior Art
[0004] Typical compact devices or cosmetic casings or vanity cases
each comprises a base casing for receiving or carrying cosmetic
materials or loose powders therein, and an upper cover pivotally
attached to the base casing, for enclosing the base casing, and for
stably retaining the cosmetic materials or loose powders within the
base casing.
[0005] For example, U.S. Pat. No. 2,041,260 to Morrison, and U.S.
Pat. No. 2,468,161 to Beseke disclose two of the typical compact
devices or cosmetic casings each also comprising a base casing
having a number of compartments formed therein for receiving or
carrying cosmetic materials or loose powders therein, and an upper
cover pivotally attached to the base casing.
[0006] Normally, the base casing and the upper cover are made of a
single layer of plastic or metal or other materials, and may have a
single color formed or provided or applied on the outer peripheral
portion thereof, such that the base casing and the upper cover of
the typical compact devices or cosmetic casings may not have
beautiful and decorative structures or outer contours.
[0007] The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate
the afore-described disadvantages of the conventional compact
devices or cosmetic casings.

compact device 1 in accordance with the present invention comprises
a base receptacle 10 including a first housing member 11 having a
chamber 12 formed therein, and having a peripheral rib 13 extended
upwardly therefrom. The base receptacle 10 may further include a
second housing member 14 disposed or engaged onto the first housing
member 11 and also having a chamber 15 formed therein and aligned
with the chamber 12 of the first housing member 11.
[0023] It is preferable that the second housing member 14 also
includes a peripheral rib 16 extended upwardly therefrom, and
includes one or more engaging members 17 provided thereon, such as
lock notches 17 formed therein, or formed in the peripheral rib 16.
It is further preferable that the second housing member 14 includes
a peripheral recess 18 formed in bottom thereof, for receiving the
peripheral rib 13 of the first housing member 11, and thus for
anchoring and securing the first and the second housing members 11,
14 together.
[0024] The first and the second housing members 11, 14 may be
solidly secured together with welding processes, such as ultrasonic
welding processes, to allow the first and the second housing
members 11, 14 to be solidly secured together into one integral
piece, and to form an outer casing 19. The base receptacle 10
further includes an inner casing 20 having one or more compartments
21 formed therein for receiving or carrying cosmetic materials or
loose powders therein, and includes an peripheral flange 22
extended radially and outwardly from the upper portion thereof, for
engaging or seating on the peripheral rib 16 of the second housing
member 14.
[0025] The inner casing 20 and the first and the second housing
members 11, 14 of the outer casing 19 may also be solidly secured
together with welding processes, such as ultrasonic welding
processes, to allow the inner casing 20 and the first and the
second housing members 11, 14 to be solidly secured together into
one integral piece, and thus to form the base receptacle 10 that
includes a solid one integral piece. It is preferable that the
first housing member 11 is made of transparent or semi-transparent
materials, to allow the color and the shape of the inner casing 20
to be seen through the first housing member 11.
[0026] The inner casing 20 and the second housing member 14 may be
formed or applied with different colors or patterns thereon, for
allowing the different colors or patterns of the inner casing 20
and the second housing member 14 to be seen by people, and to form
a decorative structure or outer contour. The inner casing 20 and
the first and the second housing members 11, 14 of the outer casing
19 may be formed or shaped into various or different shapes or
contours.
[0027] The compact device 1 further includes an upper cover 30 for
