Description
CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
[0001] This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional
Patent Application Ser. No. 60/585,748, filed Jul. 6, 2004.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] 1. Field of the Invention
[0003] The present invention generally relates to storage cabinets.
More specifically, the present invention is drawn to a cabinet for
storage of cosmetics and makeup paraphernalia.
[0004] 2. Description of the Related Art
[0005] Over time, women collect a vast array of cosmetics and tools
for applying the same. There are many different types of cosmetics
adapted for use for different occasions. Often the cosmetics and
tools are stored in different areas. For example, lipsticks may be
housed in a dresser drawer. Eye makeup, skin creams and foundations
may be located in a second drawer. Hair gels are disposed in a
bathroom cabinet. Tweezers, eyelash curlers, curling irons, etc.
are who knows where?? Further, a lighted, non-magnifying,
conventional miror and magnifying mirror may be needed to properly
monitor the effects of cosmetic applications. Assembling the needed
cosmetics and associated accessories often proves to be a daunting,
frustrating task. It would be most convenient if all cosmetics,
associated accessories, conventional mirror and magnifying mirror
were housed and organized in a single unit for quick and easy
access.
[0006] The related art is replete with cabinet units for storing
cosmetics and associated accessories. Pertinent examples of such
cabinets are cited and identified in the accompanying IDS. However,
none of the above inventions and patents, taken either singly or in
combination, is seen to disclose a makeup cabinet as will be
subsequently described and claimed in the instant invention.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0007] The present invention is directed to a makeup cabinet having
an array of drawers and compartments, which drawers and
compartments are adapted to house various cosmetics and other
makeup paraphernalia. The cabinet is provided with two hinged
doors, each door supporting a mirror thereon. One mirror is
conventional and non-magnifying, the other is of the magnifying
type.
[0008] Accordingly, the invention provides a makeup cabinet having
improved elements in an arrangement for the purposes described that
are inexpensive, dependable and fully effective in accomplishing
their intended purposes.
[0009] A clear understanding of the present invention will become
readily apparent upon further review of the following specification
and drawings.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0010] FIG. 1 is an environmental, perspective view of a makeup
cabinet according to the present invention.
[0011] FIG. 2 is a front, perspective view of a makeup cabinet
according to the present invention.
[0012] FIG. 3 is a rear, perspective view of a makeup cabinet
according to the present invention.
[0013] Similar reference characters denote corresponding features
consistently throughout the attached drawings.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0014] Attention is now directed to FIGS. 1-3 wherein the makeup
cabinet of the instant invention is generally indicated at 10.
Cabinet 10 comprises sidewalls 12, 12a, top wall 14, rear wall 16
and bottom wall 18. Bottom wall 18 incorporates a rim 18a for
supporting cabinet 10 on a planar surface. The above described
walls are joined to define a box-like housing having an open front.
Doors 20 and 22 are respectively hinged to sidewalls 12, 12a to
optionally open or close the open front.
[0015] An array of drawers and/or compartments 24 is disposed in
the cabinet. The drawers are made in different sizes to better
accommodate the various cosmetics that are contained therein. For
example, drawers of particular sizes may contain lipsticks, wherein
drawers of other sizes may contain eyeliner and eye liner pencils.
The cosmetics and accessories may be arranged in the drawers at the
user's discretion.
[0016] An electrically operated light 26 is positioned at the top
of the cabinet to provide necessary illumination when applying
makeup. An opening 16a is disposed in rear wall 16 for an
electrical cord 28, which cord is connected to light 26. It should
be noted that the light could be designed as a self-contained
battery operated light if it is desired to enhance the portability
of the cabinet. As contemplated, the cabinet and drawers will be
fabricated from wood and/or plastic material.
[0017] A conventional, reflecting, non-magnifying mirror 30 is
disposed on the inner surface of door 20. A magnifying mirror 32 is
positioned on the inner surface of door 22.
[0018] The arrangement described above presents a cabinet
containing the essential and necessary components for a
self-contained cosmetic center. The dimensions of the cabinet may
be varied at manufacture according to intended use.
[0019] It is to be understood that the present invention is not
limited to the embodiment described above, but encompasses any and
all embodiments within the scope of the following claims.
