4. The prophylactic according to claim 3, wherein the depression or concavity has a width between about 8 cm and 14 cm, a length that begins in a rear portion of the preventive seat and extends toward a front portion through a center up to approximately 66% of a rear to front length of the preventive seat and a depth of about 3 cm or more.

5. In a method of protecting the prostate or ovaries of a person, the improvements comprising having the person sit on a preventive seat characterized by an empty space of a depression or concavity in the preventive seat for a perineal region of the sitting person to protect the prostate or ovaries during the sitting from risk of an inflammation.

6. The method according to claim 5, wherein the depression or concavity has a width between about 8 cm and 14 cm, a length that begins in a rear portion of the preventive seat and extends toward a front portion through a center up to approximately 66% of a rear to front length of the preventive seat and a depth of about 3 cm or more.
Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] Inflammations of the prostate in men and the ovaries in women that do not have infectious origins are afflictions that occasion many concerns and discomforts and cause frequent doctor visiting.

[0002] As regards inflammation of the prostate that does not have an infectious origin, also called non-infectious prostatitis, it appears that to date it has not been possible to establish the causes of the ailment and therefore not the treatment thereof, either. The reports that more than 90% of the cases of prostatitis are not of infectious origin and that this inflammation also occurs in a considerable percentage of young patients, are disturbing.

[0003] Inflammation of the prostate, relating only to the problem in the man, is said to be prevalent among taxi drivers. The taxi driver and anyone who, for reasons of his work or need to study or travel or for any other reason, remains seated for long working hours in a chair or armchair of the conventional types that are used, have in common a fact that while they are seated, the perineal region, together with the buttocks and thighs, long supports the weight of the body. Because of its location, it would seem that the only irritant of the perineal region that might cause an inflammation would be provided by the fact of supporting the weight of the body during the entire time that the person is seated.

[0004] For this reason, if the fact of supporting the weight of the body while we remain seated is the only irritant of the perineal region, it seems that we could conclude that we find the cause of inflammation of the prostate or of the ovaries, in a man or woman respectively, in the seat, always with the same features, of the conventional armchair or chair that we use every day, everywhere.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0005] What distinguishes and characterizes the preventive seat is an appropriate depression or concavity in the seat of the conventional armchair or chair that begins in the rear portion of the seat, extending toward the front portion, through the center, up to approximately 66% of the length of the seat of the corresponding armchair or chair. In this way, the length of the depression or concavity will be proportional to the length of the seat, which is different in the differing types of armchair or chair.

[0006] The depression or concavity may have in its area a width that may vary between about 8 cm and 14 cm, depending on the type of armchair or chair that is manufactured applying the invention that is being described. Thus, in a typist's chair, with its seat small in area, the depression or concavity might have a width of 8 cm, while an armchair large in area, such as one for an executive, might have a width of 14 cm.

[0007] As regards the depth of the depression or concavity, it depends on the height of the padding material that the manufacturer of the armchair or chair with the preventive seat is using. Thus, in the typist's chair, that normally is manufactured with little padding, the depth may be about 3 cm, while in those armchairs that are manufactured with a greater height of padding, the depth of the depression or concavity may be on the order of about 5 cm.

[0008] Any type of armchair or chair, whether for office, cinema, restaurant, vehicles, theater, airplane, school, etc., may be manufactured with the preventive seat that constitutes the object of the invention.

[0009] Finally, it is explicitly explained that what it is sought to protect is the described depression or concavity of the preventive seat with or independently and without any connection with the armchair or chair in which the invention is applied.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0010] The attached drawings have as their sole purpose showing the invention applied to differing types of armchair or chair for enhanced appreciation of the depression or concavity that characterizes the novelty of the invention, and not limiting the invention. In the drawings:

[0011] FIG. 1 is a front/top/right-side perspective view of an armless chair for a typist, for example, having a first embodiment of a preventive seat;

[0012] FIG. 2 is an enlarged front/top/right-side perspective view of a preventive seat portion of the chair of FIG. 1;

[0013] FIG. 3 is a front/top/right-side perspective view of an arm chair for an office, for example, having a second embodiment of a preventive seat;

[0014] FIG. 4 is a front/top/right-side perspective view of a third embodiment of a preventive seat;

[0015] FIG. 5 is a front/top/right-side perspective view of twin seats for a theatre, for example, having a fourth embodiment of a preventive seat;

[0016] FIG. 6 is a left-side sectional elevation of the preventive seat of FIG. 6; and

[0017] FIG. 7 is a front/top/right-side perspective view of the third embodiment of FIG. 5 with a head-rest back for an automobile, for example.

DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0018] FIG. 1 shows a an armless chair at 10 for a typist, for example, having a preventive seat 12. The preventive seat is mounted on a pedestal 14 and has the depression or concavity 16 that characterizes the invention.

[0019] As emphasized in the enlargements of the preventive seat portion of FIGS. 2 and 3, the depression or concavity 16 of the preventive seat 12 extends from the rear of the preventive seat more than half way toward the front.

[0020] In the embodiments of FIGS. 3, 4 and 7, and 5 and 6, the depression or concavity that characterizes the preventive seat of the invention is designated 16a, 16b and 16c, respectively.

[0021] The preventive seat invention, the features of which already were described, offers a solution to the problem that is posed.

[0022] The object or purpose of the depression or concavity of the preventive seat is to form an empty space (see attached drawings) in order that the perineal region of the person using it may rest on same, thus for the healthy person preventing the perineal region from supporting the pressure of the weight of the body when he is seated since, with the preventive seat, the weight of the body is supported solely on the buttocks and thighs.

[0023] The creation of the preventive seat contributes a preventive solution for the healthy man and woman. The use thereof protects the man as well as the woman who, for reasons of work or need to travel or for any other reason, remains seated for a long time, from the risk of an inflammation of the prostate or of the ovaries, respectively. It takes care of the prostate in the man and the ovaries in the woman.

[0024] The preventive seat constitutes a new and different use of the function that the seat of the conventional armchair and chair has been performing. An advantage is obtained in their use since, in addition to fulfilling the function for which they are intended, they now would contribute a usefulness of a prophylactic nature for the healthy man and woman.

[0025] Combinations, permutations, and variations of the preventive seat described as would occur to those of ordinary skill in its art are contemplated within the scopes of the following claims.
