Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] 1. Field of the Invention
[0002] The present invention relates to a backrest assembly. In
particular, the present invention relates to a backrest assembly
with a mesh for ventilation purposes.
[0003] 2. Description of the Related Art
[0004] FIG. 6 of the drawings illustrates a conventional chair
backrest including a substantially rectangular frame 1' and a mesh
2' wrapped around the frame 1'. The frame 1' is made of metal for
supporting the weight of the user lying in the chair. The mesh 2'
provides a ventilation effect for the back of the user lying in the
chair. However, the frame 1' can be viewed through the mesh 2' and
thus fails to provide an aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Further, the frame 1' and the mesh 2' are fixed and thus could not
provide assembling diversity.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0005] An object of the present invention is to provide a backrest
with improved assembling diversity.
[0006] Another object of the present invention is to provide a
backrest with improved aesthetically pleasing appearance.
[0007] A backrest in accordance with the present invention includes
an endless main frame having a groove defined in a side thereof and
extending along an entire length thereof. The groove is delimited
by a bottom wall and an inner peripheral wall having an endless end
face. A mesh is fixed to the endless end face of the inner
peripheral wall delimiting the groove. A decorative frame is
mounted to the side of the endless main frame and covers the groove
and the endless end face of the main frame. A covering member
covers the decorative frame. An aesthetically pleasing appearance
is thus provided. Further, the decoration effect can be improved by
the decorative frame and the covering member.
[0008] In an embodiment of the invention, the bottom wall
delimiting the groove has a plurality of fixing holes defined
therein. The decorative frame has a plurality of holes. A plurality
of fasteners respectively extend through the holes of the
decorative frame and the fixing holes of the bottom wall delimiting
the groove.
[0009] Other objects, advantages, and novel features of the
invention will become more apparent from the following detailed
description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying
drawings.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0010] FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a backrest in
accordance with the present invention.
[0011] FIG. 2 is an elevational view of a semi-product of the
backrest in accordance with the present invention.
[0012] FIG. 3 is a sectional view, in an enlarged scale, of a
portion of the backrest in accordance with the present
invention.
[0013] FIG. 4 is an elevational view of the backrest in accordance
with the present invention after assembly.
[0014] FIG. 5 is a sectional view of the backrest in FIG. 4.
[0015] FIG. 6 is a perspective view of a conventional backrest.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0016] FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a backrest in
accordance with the present invention. FIG. 2 is an elevational
view of a semi-product of the backrest in accordance with the
present invention. FIG. 3 is a sectional view, in an enlarged
scale, of a portion of the backrest in accordance with the present
invention. FIG. 4 is an elevational view of the backrest in
accordance with the present invention after assembly. FIG. 5 is a
sectional view of the backrest in FIG. 4.
[0017] The backrest in accordance with the present invention
generally comprises a main frame 1, a mesh 2, a decorative frame 3,
and a covering member 4. The main frame 1 is an endless frame
(e.g., rectangular, circular, etc.) of proper strength. The main
frame 1 includes a channel or groove 111 defined in a side thereof
and extending along the entire length of the endless frame. A
bottom wall delimiting the groove 111 has a plurality of fixing
holes 12 defined therein. The groove 111 is also delimited by an
inner peripheral wall having an endless end face 13. The endless
end face 13 is thick enough to receive a fastener such as a
nail.
[0018] Referring to FIG. 2, the mesh 2 is fixed by fasteners 21
(such as nails) to the endless end face 13 of the inner peripheral
wall delimiting the groove 11. The decorative frame 3 is mounted to
the side of the main frame 1 to cover the groove 11 and the endless
end face 13 of the main frame 1, as shown in FIG. 3. The decorative
frame 3 includes a plurality of holes 31, and fasteners 14 (such as
bolts) are extended through the holes 31 of the decorative frame 3
and the fixing holes 12 of the main frame 1. The covering member 4
covers or envelopes the decorative frame 3.
[0019] As illustrated in FIGS. 3 through 5, in assembly, the
covering member 4 and the decorative frame 3 are assembled
together, and the decorative frame 3 is then mounted to the main
frame 1 to cover the joint area between the main frame 1 and the
mesh 2. An aesthetically pleasing appearance is thus provided.
Further, the decoration effect can be improved by the decorative
frame 3 and the covering member 4.
[0020] The shape of the decorative frame 3 and the pattern on an
outer surface of the covering member 4 can be altered according to
need. Thus, the assembling diversity of the backrest is
improved.
[0021] Although the invention has been explained in relation to its
preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other
possible modifications and variations can be made without departing
from the scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
