Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] 1. Field of the Invention

[0002] The present invention relates to a table, and more particularly to a table having one or more peripheral frames attached to the front and/or the side portions thereof, for reinforcing or decorative purposes or the like.

[0003] 2. Description of the Prior Art

[0004] Typical tables, such as the tables for supporting computer facilities and the peripheral facilities thereof, comprise a planar table top for supporting the computer facilities and the peripheral facilities thereof.

[0005] No peripheral frames have been provided and attached to either the front or the side portions of the table, for reinforcing or for decorative purposes. Accordingly, when a pad is disposed on top of the table top of the typical tables, the pad may be moved relative to the table, and may not be suitably positioned to the table.

[0006] Similarly, the stationery goods, such as pens, pencils, or the like that are supported on the table top of the typical tables may also have a good chance to be moved relative to the table, and may be easily dropped from the table.

[0007] The present invention has arisen to mitigate and/or obviate the afore-described disadvantages of the conventional tables for computer facilities or the like.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0008] The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a table including one or more peripheral frames attached to the front and/or the side portions thereof, for reinforcing or decorative purposes, or for position the pads or the stationery goods on top of the table.

[0009] In accordance with one aspect of the invention, there is provided a table comprising a table top including a front portion and two side portions, a front frame including a rear portion having a channel formed therein and defined by a lower casing and an upper flap, to receive the front portion of the table top, and to position the front frame to the table top, and two side frames each including a channel formed therein and defined by a lower casing and an upper flap, to receive the side portions of the table top respectively, and to position the side frames to the table top respectively, and means for securing the side frames to the front frame.

[0010] Two couplers may further be provided and attached between the front frame and the side frames respectively. The couplers each include a depression formed therein and defined by a peripheral shoulder, the side frames each include a front portion engaged into the depressions of the couplers respectively.

[0011] The couplers each includes an orifice formed therein, the front portions of the side frames each include a recess formed therein and aligned with the orifices of the couplers respectively, and the securing means includes two fasteners engaged through the recesses of the side frames and the orifices of the couplers respectively, and engaged into the table top, to secure the side frames and the couplers to the table top.

[0012] The side frames each include a cap engaged into the recess thereof, to shield the fastener. The couplers each further include a swelling extended therefrom and engaged into the orifice of the coupler, to further position the coupler to the side frame.

[0013] The front frame includes a chamber formed therein and having two ends, the couplers each includes a projection extended therefrom, and engaged into the ends of the chamber of the front frame, to position and secure the couplers to the front frame.

[0014] Further objectives and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from a careful reading of the detailed description provided hereinbelow, with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0015] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a table in accordance with the present invention;

[0016] FIG. 2 is an exploded view of the table;

[0017] FIG. 3 is an enlarged partial exploded view of the table;

[0018] FIG. 4 is an enlarged partial perspective view of the table;

[0019] FIG. 5 is a partial cross sectional view taken along lines 5-5 of FIG. 1;

[0020] FIG. 6 is an enlarged partial cross sectional view taken along lines 6-6 of FIG. 5; and

[0021] FIG. 7 is a partial cross sectional view taken along lines 7-7 of FIG. 4, illustrating the operation of the table.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0022] Referring to the drawings, and initially to FIGS. 1-5 a table in accordance with the present invention comprises a table top 10 including a front portion 11 and two side portions 12, 13, and a front frame 20 to be attached to the front portion 11 of the table top 10, and two side frames 30 to be attached to the side portions 12, 13 of the table top 10 respectively.

[0023] The front frame 20 includes a curved or rounded front portion 21 having a chamber 25 formed therein, and includes a channel 22 formed in the rear portion thereof, and defined by a lower casing 23 and an upper flap 24, for receiving the front portion 11 of the table top 10, and for positioning the front frame 20 to the table top 10. The casing 23 of the front frame 20 includes one or more recesses or bent portions 27 formed in the bottom portion thereof for reinforcing purposes.

[0024] Two couplers 40 each may include a projection 41 extended therefrom, to engage into the chamber 25 or the ends of the front frame 20, and thus to position or secure the couplers 40 to the ends of the front frame 20. The couplers 40 each may include a depression 42 formed in the outer portion thereof and formed or defined by a peripheral shoulder 44, and each may include an orifice 43 formed therein and communicating with the depression 42 thereof to receive a fastener 47.

[0025] The side frames 30 each may include a front portion 31 received in the depression 42 of the respective coupler 40, and having a corresponding curvature or shape or contour for snugly engaging onto the peripheral shoulder 44 of the respective coupler 40, and thus for positioning the coupler 40 to the side frame 30. It is preferable that the front portions 31 of the side frames 30 each may include a swelling 32 extended therefrom (FIG. 6) and engaged into the corresponding orifice 43 of the coupler 40, for further positioning the coupler 40 to the side frame 30.

[0026] The side frames 30 each may include a channel 33 formed therein and defined by a lower casing 34 and an upper flap 37 (FIG. 7), for receiving the corresponding side portions 12 of the table top 10, and for positioning or securing the side frames 30 to the table top 10.

[0027] The front portions 31 of the side frames 30 are preferably flush with the outer surfaces of the couplers 40 respectively, and each may further include a recess 35 formed therein to receive a head 48 of the fastener 47. The fasteners 47 may be engaged through the recesses 35 of the respective side frames 30, and through the (FIG. 6) and engaged into the corresponding orifices 43 of the couplers 40, and engaged into the table top 10, to solidly secure the side frames 30 and thus the couplers 40 and the front frame 20 to the table top 10. Two caps 36 may be engaged into the recesses 35 of the respective side frames 30, in order to shield the fasteners 47.

[0028] In operation, as shown in FIG. 4, when the front frame 20 is secured onto the front portion 11 of the table top 10, the upper flap 24 of the front frame 20 may form or define a shoulder 26 between the upper flap 24 of the front frame 20 and the front portion 11 of the table top 10. The pad 50 that is supported on top of the table top 10 may thus be retained in the upper portion of the table top 10 by the upper flap 24 of the front frame 20.

[0029] As shown in FIG. 7, the stationery goods, such as the pen 90 that is supported on top of the table top 10, may be engaged with the upper flap 37 of the side frames 30, and may be prevented from being dropped from the table top 10.

[0030] Accordingly, the table in accordance with the present invention includes one or more peripheral frames attached to the front and/or the side portions thereof, for reinforcing or decorative purposes, or for position the pads or the stationery goods on top of the table.

[0031] Although this invention has been described with a certain degree of particularity, it is to be understood that the present disclosure has been made by way of example only and that numerous changes in the detailed construction and the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
