Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates generally to plastic beverage cups but more particularly to a combined saucer and cover for beverage cups having provision for condiments and the like.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] Fast food restaurants generally serve condiments like catsup, mayonnaise, mustard, etc. in different separate trays or containers. Consumers in the meantime conveniently empty sachets of catsup, mayonnaise, and mustard on top of dirty food trays and inked paper mats, when separate condiment containers become cumbersome to obtain and use. When driving consumers generally empty their catsup randomly on top of their French fries holder, catsup is not well distributed among all French fries in the holder. Use of separate container food catsups is also cumbersome and prohibitive because of space, movement and dining conditions.

[0003] Accordingly, the primary object of this invention is to provide a cover for the beverage cup having compartments for condiment serving as a saucer at the same time therefore.

[0004] Another object of this invention is to provide a combined saucer and cover for beverage cup on to where condiments such as catsup, mayonnaise, mustard and the like can be placed so that the users can dip their French fries and the like thereto without the need of a separate saucer or cup.

[0005] Still an object of this invention is to provide a combined saucer and cover for beverage cup that is made of plastic and can be stack one on top of another.

[0006] Yet, an object of this invention is to provide a combined saucer and cover for beverage cup that is so simple is construction and can be manufactured by means of simple ordinary molding equipment.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0007] The present beverage cup lid is comprised of a flexible cap snugly wrapped around the top of a plastic cup. The top of the lid is comprised of a round disc, an opening for a straw, and a generally concave mold throughout the top portion of the lid. The concave mold serves as a compartment for condiments like catsup, mayonnaise, mustard and food in general. The bottom of the lid is generally convexed except for the opening intended for the straw. The beverage cup lid invention is preferably formed by, molding, heat extrusion, etc. In the second embodiment, the food compartment is divided into two chambers for variety.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWINGS

[0008] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the present invention for a combined saucer and cover positioned over a conventional plastic beverage cup and beverage straw shown in dotted lines;

[0009] FIG. 2 is a side view of said combined saucer and cover;

[0010] FIG. 3 is a sectional view taken along line 3-3 of FIG. 2; and

[0011] FIG. 4 is a perspective of another embodiment.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0012] FIGS. 1, 2, 3, show a combined saucer and cover for beverage cup generally designated as reference numeral 10.

[0013] Said cover 10, which is made of a molded plastic, comprises a disc 11 being provided with a downwardly projecting peripheral skirt 12. At least or approximately 75% percent of the top surface 13 is depressed or has a concave molded portion 14 on to which condiments such as catsup, mayonnaise, mustard and the like are placed. The raised portion 15, on the other hand, has a circular perforation 16. This circular perforation 16 provides a straw opening 17 when punctured.

[0014] As shown in FIG. 3, the concave mold portion 14 is prominently displayed. The skirt 12 surrounds the concave molded portion defining a hollow portion 18 in between on to which the rim of the portion 15 is elevated to prevent mixture of the beverage inside the beverage cup with the condiment on said saucer cover 10.

[0015] FIG. 4 shows another embodiment of the present invention whereby the concave molded portion 14 is divided into two compartments 19 and 20 in order to hold to kinds of condiment at the same time without mixing them.
