Small-size grease gun

Abstract

A small-size grease gun includes a hollow main body, a grease nipple connected to a front end of the main body, a push rod elastically movably disposed in the main body, and a cylindrical grease container screwed to a sleeve vertically extended from a top of the main body. A rear section of the push rod is projected from a rear open end of the main body to connect to a knob. The grease container has a hold-down disc positioned therein and being normally pushed downward by a spring fixed to a lower side of a top cover of the grease container. An amount of grease filled in the grease container is forced into the main body by the hold-down disc. By pushing the rear section of the push rod into the main body, the grease is compressed to inject into a small-size pneumatic tool via the grease nipple.

Claims

What is claimed is:

1. A small-size grease gun, comprising: a hollow main body having a conical grease nipple connected to a front end thereof, a sleeve vertically extended from a top of said main body, and a push rod movably associated with said main body; said push rod including a front section that is received in a hollow space defined by said main body with a first spring put thereon, and a rear section that is projected from a rear open end of said main body to connect at a rear end to a knob; and a cylindrical grease container having a locking neck portion provided at a lower end thereof for screwing onto said sleeve of said main body; a hold-down disc having an O-ring mounted around an outer peripheral edge thereof being positioned in said grease container, and a top cover having a second spring fixed to a lower side thereof being closed onto an upper open end of said grease container, such that said second spring normally pushes said hold-down disc downward; Whereby when said hold-down disc is positioned into and said top cover is closed onto said grease container after the latter is filled with an amount of grease, said second spring pushes said hold-down disc downward to force said grease into said main body via said sleeve; and when said rear section of said push rod is pushed into said main body, said grease in said main body is compressed to inject into a small-size pneumatic tool via said grease nipple.
Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a small-size grease gun, and more particularly to a grease gun specially designed for conveniently and quickly injecting grease into a small-size pneumatic tool.

[0002] Most of the currently commercially available grease guns are designed for greasing a large-scale machine table but not suitable for greasing small-size pneumatic tools. Therefore, operators of small-size pneumatic tools often have troubles in maintaining or repairing such small pneumatic tools due to lack of suitable grease guns.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0003] A primary object of the present invention is to provide a small-size grease gun suitable for injecting grease into small-size ball bearings of a pneumatic tool, so that the pneumatic tool could be maintained in a more convenient and quick manner.

[0004] To achieve the above and other objects, the small-size grease gun of the present invention mainly includes a hollow main body, a grease nipple connected to a front end of the main body with a conical spring and a steel ball disposed between them, a push rod elastically movably associated with the main body, and a cylindrical grease container screwed to a sleeve vertically extended from a top of the main body. A front section of the push rod is located inside the main body with a spring put thereon, and a rear section of the push rod is projected from a rear open end of the main body to connect to a knob. The grease container has a hold-down disc positioned therein and being normally pushed downward by a spring fixed to a lower side of a top cover of the grease container. An amount of grease filled in the grease container is forced into the main body by the hold-down disc. By pushing the rear section of the push rod into the main body, the grease in the main body is compressed to inject into a small-size pneumatic tool via the grease nipple.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0005] The structure and the technical means adopted by the present invention to achieve the above and other objects can be best understood by referring to the following detailed description of the preferred embodiments and the accompanying drawings, wherein

[0006] FIG. 1 is an assembled perspective view of a small-size grease gun according to the present invention;

[0007] FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of FIG. 1;

[0008] FIG. 3 is a sectional view of FIG. 1; and

[0009] FIG. 4 shows the manner of using the small-size grease gun of the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0010] Please refer to FIGS. 1, 2, and 3 at the same time, in which a small-size grease gun 100 according to the present invention is shown. The small-size grease gun 100, as shown, mainly includes a main body 1 in the form of a hollow tubular member, a grease nipple 2 connected to a front end of the main body 1 with a steel ball 11 and a conical spring 12 disposed between them, a push rod 3 movably associated with the main body 1, and a cylindrical grease container 7 connected to a sleeve 13 vertically extended from a top of the main body 1.

[0011] A front section of the push rod 3 is disposed inside the main body 1 with a spring 4 put thereon, and a rear section of the push rod 3 is projected from a rear open end of the main body 1 while a cap 5 is put around the push rod 3 to close the rear open end of the main body 1. A knob 6 is connected to a rear end of the push rod 3 to enable comfortable pushing and pulling of the push rod 3 at the knob 6.

[0012] The cylindrical grease container 7 is provided at a lower end with a locking neck 71 having external threads 711. And, the sleeve 13 on the top of the main body 1 is provided with internal threads 131 meshing with the external threads 711 to enable firm connection of the grease container 7 to the sleeve 13 of the main body 1 through engagement of the external threads 711 with the internal threads 131. A hold-down disc 8 having an O-ring 81 mounted around an outer peripheral edge thereof is fitly positioned in the cylindrical grease container 7. A top cover 9 is closed onto an upper open end of the grease container 7 with a spring 91 fixedly connected to a lower side of the top cover 9 to normally push the hold-down disc 8 downward in the grease container 7.

[0013] After the small-size grease gun 100 is assembled from the above-mentioned components with the locking neck 71 of the grease container 7 screwed to the sleeve 13 of the main body 1, an amount of grease may be filled into the grease container 7 before the hold-down disc 8 is disposed into the grease container 7 and the top cover 9 is closed onto the upper open end of the grease container 7. The spring 91 fixed to the lower side of the top cover 9 pushes the hold-down disc 8 downward, forcing the grease in the grease container 7 into the main body 1 for injection via the grease nipple 2.

[0014] Please refer to FIG. 4 that shows the manner of using the small-size grease gun 100 of the present invention. To use the grease gun 100, first fill the grease container 7 with an amount of grease. Allow the spring 91 and the hold-down disc 8 to apply a downward pressure on the grease and thereby forces the same into the hollow main body 1 via the sleeve 13. And then push the knob 6 toward the main body 1, so that the rear section of the push rod 3 is moved into the main body 1. At this point, the grease in the main body 1 is compressed to inject into a small-size pneumatic tool via the grease nipple 2.

[0015] Due to the small size of the grease gun of the present invention, it is particularly suitable for greasing small-size ball bearings in general pneumatic tools.
